Excellent review! Thanks for taking the time to share the images. I've got mine on order and should get it this week. I love these AT-STs. The 1st one was one of my favorite SW sets. What I like most about sets like this is the size. You can set up a small scene with a few figs (maybe a Snowspeeder), and you've got a small battle between the forces. The pilot is excellent too. In any case, this looks like a great set!

Definately old news. It's been out for some time.

The train sub-theme has been my favorite. Neat additions to the train theme. They would make a great small or poly-bag set.

That's definately a boathouse! Nice job. Does it have a removable roof? In regard to this image: I would say it's a computer graphic design. What both images inpired were a simple "shack-like" boathouse almost like an old log cabin in shape (real simple). Phes: you're definately "nit-picking". But that's OK. You have a good critical eye. I'm still not real crazy about the overall MOC, but it is my 1st (or 2nd) pirate-theme MOC, so I don't think it came out too bad.

What I like most about this scene is that dioramas like this are complete. They include multiple ships/transportation, figs, a keep/fortress/or other structure to sack, and lots of "playability". Lego really has gotten away from offering sets of this variety. I love these scenes!

Welcome to Eurobricks DS. The yellow castle was my 1st Lego castle, so I like the classic yellow. You design a great MOC. Nice to see you join EB.

I actually like the look of a draped flag much better for a tower of this kind (even though this flag was meant to fly).
-
I would stick to a shipyard rather than a boathouse for that nicely crafted schooner. I don't think a building that size would look all that spectacular. A shipyard scene launching the boat would do it justice though.

Just spotted this classic yellow-style castle on Brickshelf. I really like the round design. It also has a nice touch of the red and white flags that blend in nicely with the classic crusader fig. Whole Gallery: Hilltop Tower

No problem. Think about what might be used in a nautical scene? A fishing village or port? I think Dock 13 in the Spiderman set 7045 Hovercraft Hideout could almost be considered a boat house. Historically, some were pretty simple so for Lego builders like me, not so hard to replicate. Here's a few inspiration images:

OK, I destroyed my initial MOC to create a 2nd design. This one I like much better, and it actually has the boathouse I was looking to create. Phes had mentioned that the port looks more like an Imperial Navy Port but the image says "TheBrickster's Pirates". This is meant to refer to the theme, not the MOC itself. It is actually a Naval Port (no story yet as I'm still working on my pirate design techniques. Thank you all for your feedback on the 1st design.

I for one enjoy seeing one item per day. Not having the set, it's fun to see what's next.

Thanks for the comments. To be honest with all of you, I can't wait to destroy and try building it again from scratch. I like the overall placement of buildings, but I'm not crazy about the building design. The tower is a little too large. The middle building (boat shop), I may leave open, and for the white/yellow building to the right, I was trying to achieve a classic house design with pirate parts, but it didn't work so well. I'm going to try again. This MOC uses some very old pieces (that I had to dig out of the old classic collection). The blue base plate is from the old Coast Guard set (575). The yellow door and fences comes from the old Police Station (381), and most of the pirate pieces from the Carribean Clipper (6274). In regard to the brown, it's the old brown that comes from the bulk brown plate set (10150). Someone had commented that it looks like both. They should all be the same -it's probably the lighting or my camera. Thanks for the feedback. I need to go back to the "drawing board" and put on my pirate hat.

I'm just being sarcastic -don't take me seriously.

I really like the design of the ship. Very original.

Alas: I've joined the ranks in the Stockade to share my first Pirate MOC, Port Mead. It does not have a story or characters at this time, but rather is just my modest attempt tp build a small Pirate port. With photo background: Another angle:

It's at least running Windows! I was just looking at the doctor. He reminds me of Clark Kent on his way to put on his Superman Costume.

Check this MOC out that I just saw on maj.com. It's a neat little diorama.

Have any of you purchased this set yet or are planning to do so? The more and more I look at it, it just has too many colors for me. lego could have offered a much better Christmas train.

First Aqua Raiders and City pics on Amazon.de

I think you're right. Appreciate those of you trying to find such a set. I must have been dreaming again. -
I'd recommend that if you're considering buying additional 9V track, you do it soon. I know what's been said about the future of 9V, but I can see Lego phasing this out. I don't trust Lego to keep offering both RC and 9V.
-
Sure, I could do that, but I'd rather go to Lego SAH and order the set (now that it's available again). :-D
-
I really think we'll just see more KK - sorry. But in regard to the question at hand, I would love to see forestmen again and Medieval village sets.

What licensed themes would you like to see?
WesternOutlaw replied to BearHeart's topic in LEGO Licensed
Interesting choice. I'm a big fan, but seriously doubt Lego would ever consider a minifig of Paul Atreides. I wanted to see Lego offer King Kong adventure sets. -
I've been looking at this set for some time thinking I wanted it for a Ghost Ship. Stores are just about out and Lego SAH (US) just sold out of it after placing on sale.
