  1. And the old traditional pirate SPLASH! as the Disney ship falls into the underground realm of the pirates! X-O
  2. Pretty nice. It sure is tall.
  3. Oh: you need to enter IS. You've got that outstanding avatar. You couldn't pass up a chance to build a neat MOC and share it, could you?
  4. I think it's having your favorite Top 5 that might be throwing some. But if that's just your pics and no vote on them, it's not an issue. - I understand what your wanting to do. I doubt I'll do better than you. My pirate bricks/sets are very limited. In addition, you're a much bigger fan of the theme than I. DARN: somewhere in my garage in one of numerous unpacked boxes, I have an old Pirates of the Carribean book that I picked up in Disneyland many years ago. I was just looking for it a few weeks ago, and could not find. It would really help for visuals.
  5. It's interesting to see these old messages/polls pop up again. Interestingly enough, I've been seriously considering the purchase of 10176. I own Vladek's Castle. I like 10176 because it's another Castle Legend and I want to keep my Legend collection going. I just don't want to spend $100 (USD) on this set with the new Castle theme coming out soon (which I plan to buy). Plus one of the new sets is another King's Castle. With the Cafe Corner and Hobby Train out, I just don't know which to buy??? Oh - the dilemma.
  6. Thanks, why don't you share some images Z.
  7. I just saw this awesome Wizard's Tower MOC on Brickshelf. I don't recall seeing it before, so thought I would share: Gallery of three images: Wizard's Tower Gallery Pretty nice, isn't it?
  8. Yes, - Spellcaster 4D. I just saw it last weekend at Legoland. It was very good. I've got some building ideas from the film as well. I would have thought the theme would be out before the film, but it appears that it's the complete opposite in this case. I really like the King's Castle and the Skull Fortress. The evil wizard is awesome! Here's a close-up:
  9. Mr. H: I've got a few transformers as a big fan of Lego trains. They definately transfer power at incrementals rates as you've indicated, rather than gradual power like traditional HO train transformers (or a light dimmer switch). I have not tried rewiring the inner-workings to change this, and not sure if you can. I'm a bit of a purist and careful with my Lego, so I would probably never try. But I understand what your asking, just haven't tried it.
  10. Norrington: why don't you just include all entries in a single poll. It makes it fair for everyone. What you might be running up against is those individuals who are not familiar with the ride - but I like the contest. I might even enter. There's no reason Nor. should NOT be able to participate. His vote counts the same as everyone else.
  11. Actually, SW can be considered fantasy. SW might be better classified as Science Fiction, but based on the literary definition of the word Fantasy, SW does have elements of the supernatural and/or magic. I would point out the power of the "force" that constitutes these elements. A book, movie, film, etc. does not have to have wizards, dragons, and sorcery to be considered fantasy. Science Fiction can contain fantasy elements. SW is a good example. I've also heard science fiction called "modern fantasy". This is debatable depending on ones point of view.
  12. Phes, this is a really nice GUI. I don't have much to offer in terms of suggestions for improvment, but wanted to say "nice job". I really like the overall look of the main page with the water in the background and the parchment look of the menus. And you got my review of the CC in, so I'm happy. If I think of something constructive, I'll respond again. One suggestion: have a NEWS or Hot Topics link. You could post things like the main page of EB. The Pirates of the Carribean Contest comes to mind.
  13. Perhaps, but FBTB does not have the diversity/variety of topics and forums that EB has.
  14. A question like this would be better asked through a poll. That way, the stats can be collected as well as some privacy for those of us not wanting to share our age.
  15. BM- where have you been? Haven't read much from you lately.
  16. Neat little house, but it needs furniture.
  17. On a side note, this will always be my favorite ride at Disney. Those are great picture too. Sounds like a neat contest.
  18. If you answer YES to this question, you might want to consider dating... Just my two cents.
  19. That is one HUGE ship!
  20. You should definately go, esp. if you have not been there before. It is neat place to visit and your girlfriend's little brother would really enjoy it.
  21. Adventurers, Castle, Wild West, and Pirates are among my favorite all-time Lego themes. All of these themes can be history or fantasy. In my opinion, the fantasy aspects make them more playable and more interesting (esp Castle). The new Lego Castle theme is a great one for it really combines aspects of both classic castle with fantasy. I love swords and sorcery and unlike Fright Knights, the theme is much better designed.
  22. A small group of us (perhaps the 50 that you mention) probably account for about 50% of the posts (or greater). Just an educated guess, but as an old member, I think the important thing is the quality of the discussions vs. the # of members.
  23. Unfair? The villains are diabolic killers. Fairness a question? I think not. The Asylum is simply a way to capture some of the Batman villains with their weapons/unique characteristics. This is fiction.
  24. As many of you are aware, I'm a big Western fan; but after renting Deadwood which was a made for HBO/Cable mini-series, I was very disappointed. After watching the film for just a 1/2 hour or so, the language was F this and F that, I'm going to kill the M..F..., etc. It was truly a big distraction to the storyline which may have been good or bad. I didn't watch much, and really couldn't get into the film. It's been a long time since I've seen a really good western in the movies (but that's a completely different topic). As far as the MOC, I really like the general store.
  25. Thanks. I've always been a big fan of spell casters.
