  1. I purchased the Sopwith Camel when it first came out. I really don't like the large scale of these MOCs. They make great models, but are wortheless in terms of your Lego city (unless you piece them out which I think is a waste).
  2. The silver bricks (with regular grill-type grey bricks). I'm not sure why they're called silver. They're just soft gray to me. Pretty neat. I did something similar with a MOT around my western town (several years ago). I also added a song. I post my images on Maj.com; which I discovered, deletes non-image files automatically. I have no place to upload the .mov file to share. H&C: I went ahead an uploaded my .mpg to Brickshelf. I posted the message in the H&A forum. Here's the link if you wish to check it out: Wild West Town & Train Clip.
  3. Nice pic H&C. I forget which of the two/three sets I built when I first got this set. I really like the fact that Lego offered alternative models for the two Santa Fe cars. Yes, I had the same issue when I first got this set. The 2x2x1 bricks were my first real disappointment with Lego quality; so much so, that I complained to Lego about these inferior bricks. The manager that I spoke with agreed with me when the set first came out, and ordered replacements in standard bricks. I was very impressed with Lego's customer service when this happened. I do remember her stating that the bricks were intended to look like metal and that's why the different look. These pieces don't stick together well, and since then (it's been a few years), I've seen more and more pieces made with this softer, cheaper plastic. I hope Lego does not continue to make standard bricks with this inferior plastic. The set; however, is a great one, but it would have been nice to have a few figs with it.
  4. I've tried to build a water tower a few times myself, but never came up with something that I liked (not for Grave Stone, but just as an addition to a train depot). I'm interested in what you come up with. The base is what always gives me trouble. I've tried a few different techniques, but nothing that I've been fond of. I notice that it takes you several months to build one of your MOCs. Do you do a lot of re-design, or just have limited time to build - or is it the graphic work that takes you a long time?
  5. I'm not a big fan of purple, but I think that it really sets this castle apart from others. The purple is very unique and captures the eye. With black or red, it would look a lot like other large castles. Playmobil just came out with a new Barbarian Castle sub-theme (at least in the last year). The theme also uses purple:
  6. Good deal! Did you take any pictures of your WW MOCs? You can always rebuild down the road, if not. Brick Miner has done some really good MOCs and you can check out some of mine through my signature link. Nice to see another WW enthusiast on EB. *y*
  7. Great set Sne. I wanted this set back in the late 70s/early 80s when I was a kid, and regret not buying it when it was re-released. I just wish it was more along mini-fig scale. Thanks for sharing the great images. Very nice set!
  8. Have you done any WW MOCs Piranha? Perhaps you can share some of your creations. Watch out for POLLS, you might get nicknamed "Pollster Junior". - My title was "the Pollster" for a while.
  9. Good luck to all of you!
  10. Welcome to EB Piranha. I would suggest you take a look at this thread: Help Dusty Miller: What sets would you add to the WW theme?
  11. The mysterious Wizard of the Emerald Order is challenging you in this latest Eurobricks Building Contest. Unearth the arcana by building your best Spellcaster and sharing a photo to see which is the best Wizard. For an added challenge, you may also build a Wizard's Workshop for your Spellcaster. Contest Rules: Build a single Wizard/SpellCaster mini-fig sharing only one image of your creation. - No non-Lego pieces, no painted/colored pieces, and decals are NOT allowed. - Your image may contain a digitalalized background for presentation. - Images may be no larger than 640 x 480. As part of the ultimate challenge, you may also build a Wizard's Workshop (same rules apply). The workshop is an INTERIOR build only, not an exterior tower, castle, etc. Providing the Administrators endorse this contest, the contest starts with the first image posted and ends in one week. Each person may enter one wizard, and one wizard workshop (wizard workshop optional). Your wizard must have a name, but story is NOT required. Winning categories include: - Overall Best Wizard - Most Creative Wizard - Best Wizard's Workshop Does your Wizard have the magical power to win the Wizard's Challenge!
  12. Yes; but actually, it seems to be an issue with the yellow ink in my printer. It's not dispensing and causing all the colors to be off. It's not an ink cartridge issue as I have replaced cartridges. It's a great printer, but it is getting old. Sometimes it's fine, but other times, the colors just aren't working (plus it's streaking on occasion). -------------------------------------------------- Not exactly. I did stock up on brown pieces during my recent visit to Legoland. I do plan on making some more WW MOCs. As you know, I like to bounce between themes - and there is no escape from Grave Stone... I've got a vision in the back of my head for what I might be doing next, and a few new design techniques. How's your Train Station coming along? Magic and sorcery is flowing in the air right now with the new Castle theme coming soon. Let's see were it takes us. -------------------------------------------------- Thanks for your positive feedback Mat. I appreciate your comments. - And welcome to Eurobricks.
  13. Just came across this very nice castle on Brickshelf. The actual name appears to be Purple Hills, but I'll call it the Castle of the Purple Wizards. This is very well done, and I have not seen this much purple used in a castle before. Take a look: Entire gallery: Purple Castle
  14. Thanks for your comments BM. A constructive MOC review would not be complete without your feedback (at least in regard to the WW theme). In regard to the signage, yes, I just added digitally. I've been having trouble with my old color printer (color issue), and couldn't get the sticker to come out. I got frustrated and added the letters digitally. Since I have already destroyed this MOC, I'm not planning on modifying. Perhaps my next one.
  15. Nice job Steve. Does it have some detail on the back-side? I like your story as well. Reminds me a little of HP Lovecraft.
  16. *wub* Now you're talking!
  17. I may blame the language, but I really couldn't get into it. The overall film and characters just didn't keep my interest long. I have heard good things about it, but I didn't care much for it. I'd rather watch an old Spaghetti Western with Clint Eastwood that I've seen a hundred times, and I'd me much more happy.
  18. Nice job SD. I love these castle MOCs. The little doc jumps out at me. It really looks good with the arches to the door. And the back looks pretty neat too. The red roofs work well with the dark colors. Have you considered using grey as opposed to black? (just curious). Nice detail and the greenery around the structure looks great. I esp. like the wizard. Nice fig. Overall, a nice addition to your collection. Makes me want to build one myself with this and other recent wizard castles. *y*
  19. You asked for it, you got it.
  20. Nice review Alex. Thanks for taking the time to post these images. I really like this train, but passed on it because it's not 9V.
  21. Wow, I did miss this. I actually saw the name and thought it was an old post, so didn't bother checking it out. Since you've called it "Brickster-ish", I must comment. First and foremost, it's a nice battle scene with a lot of action. I enjoy any MOC that includes Confederate troops; not because I'm a fan of the South, but rather because Lego did not provide any Confederate troops in their sets. These troops spark my interest. Interesting to have combined the tan desert baseplate with the grass baseplate. It actually works pretty well. I like the tan baseplate from the Indian sets - but green is definately needed for this famous battle scene. I like the variety of the Union troops. Not all the torsos appear to be traditional WW Union soldiers. If I'm incorrect; however, it's hard to see from the image. In regard to the Confederate troops, I prefer grey hats, but I can see why brown was used probably due to a shortage of grey caps. I think the MOC is missing some flags. All the images of the Battle of Gettysburg that I can recall had troops carrying flags. In addition, I'm not real fond of the structure on the hill (I'm guessing this is Meade's HQ but perhaps it may be something else). In any case, it looks a bit square. The hill; however, looks nice. Other items that catch my interest is the Union soldier in the river (neat), the dividing line fences, and the soldiers loading the cannons - all nicely done. Overall, I think this is a nicely done MOC with a lot of action depicted in this scene. Great job!
  22. Sorry... I was getting excited thinking about the ride. :'-)
  23. Yes I did. It was excellent! I can't wait for the sets to hit.
  24. Har Har Har Har Har!!! As the lights go dark!
  25. Excellent Steve! I love it. You make some really good adventurer MOCs. Have you been working on this long? The design of the structure/tomb is excellent. I like the detail within as well. Great job. Can you perhaps post a larger image of the entire MOC? Excuse me, I missed your last link.
