  1. I was trying to capture the rest of the buildings and keep the people out of the image.
  2. I can't wait until the new theme hits. I'm very much looking forward to buying the entire collection.
  3. There are other dioramas like the New York skyline, downtown New Orleans, San Fransisco, and other displays. This is just the newest collection.
  4. Thanks Hobbes. Do you have any of the WW sets? And are you a fan of the theme?
  5. I just came back from a trip to Legoland, California, and wanted to share some pictures of the new Las Vegas miniland display. The pictures are very large, so I'll just share the best (in my opinion): The Excalibur - bright and colorful, made to look like a castle: The New York - a nice collection of different buildings with lots of color: The Venecian and Paris (this one is for you Jipay): Set your sails for the Treasure Island (I thought of you Phes, when I snapped this one). It included a sea battle with cannon ball fire (water spashes), and when the white ship gets hit, the mast falls down. And my favorite, the Luxor. I just love the sphinx: The Las Vegas display was really impressive. The buildings were very vivid and colorful, and the design outstanding. Overall, Legoland was a lot of fun, but I was disappointed to not find any of the newer sets. I think I would have bought the Cafe Corner had I seen it there. The sets that they had in the stores were nothing more than what you could find in your local toy stores. I did pick up an exclusive Las Vegas Miniland collectors brick that I will be auctioning off later :-D . Hope you enjoy the images.
  6. What an awesome MOC. That's really nice.
  7. For the WW fans out there, I recently came across these Deadwood inpired MOCs: Deadwood I'm not real fond of the saloon/hotel, but the general store is pretty nice as well as the figs: The interior detailing is pretty nice as well.
  8. Excellent idea. Instead of a single superhero, a group of them to battle evil villains.
  9. I prefer quality over price, but price must remain somewhat reasonable. Lego has always been expensive. Prices can always be adjusted, but quality and reputation for quality takes years to build. As Lego slips, they are affecting their reputation adversely. I'm really having second thoughts about buying Cafe Corner now. I love the set, but I don't know if it's worth $140 (USD). - I'm thinking twice now.
  10. As I was reading the review of the Cafe Corner, I was really surprised that Lego would include bricks of the same color, but in different shades. This is REALLY POOR quality. In addition, I'm looking at the Jan-Feb Lego magazine that has a centerfold of the 7945 Fire Station (Page 11 for those of you who get this). I'm looking at pieces which support the garage noticing that the plastic is visibly lesser quality than that of bricks I'm use to. They have a brighter shine which makes them look softer. This topic has been discussed before, but Lego quality really is slipping and this alarms me. I see Megabloks and other brands improving quality as Lego seems to be getting worse. Lego seems to be making pieces with this cheaper plastic more and more. These pieces don't line up as well as older bricks, and they also don't stick quite the same making them more moveable after assembly. Have others noticed this? This is really unfortunate. Lego should watch themselves as they try to save money on cheaper quality plastic.
  11. No offense taken Steve. Not a problem at all. I'd rather you be honest. I like the 2nd one better. It has more of a haunted house look which I was looking for. The first one didn't capture that very well - perhaps it's more Western though. In any case, I appreciate the feedback, and if I didn't value your comments, I wouldn't share the MOC.
  12. Absolutely horrible. I hope Lego never creates such a thing.
  13. Duck Dodger! - not a big fan. I never really cared for Donald Duck or the other ducklings. Is Batman the best superhero? I don't know. What about Superman? or perhaps others? I use to like Green Lantern as a kid, and Aquaman too.
  14. I'm not a real big fan of these monuments, but a set like this would really include a lot of good pieces. I'm thinking train bridges...
  15. That's too bad. I really did put much more effort into building the second MOC.
  16. I was just thinking about Batman and Spiderman Lego themes thinking how much better Batman was over Spiderman. I think that it would be fair to say that Batman theme far exceeded the popularity of Spiderman. The Batman sets were much better in addition to including some great villain figs. But what other superhero theme could out do Batman? Any thoughts? Just something to ponder about.
  17. Wow! Now I regret rebuilding. I really wasn't too fond of the first design for the reasons mentioned in some of the first few responses - but thanks. Appreciate your feedback.
  18. I think the bar is a little too bright and modern looking - perhaps it's the yellow. - but thanks.
  19. Interesting... Definately worth investigating further. I'll let you know what I find.
  20. I'd hate to think of the hours/days it took to put this together. I have mixed views of the overall look.
  21. With the choice of sand green, I was trying to capture a combination of both an old western hotel and something along the line of a haunted house. I'm not real fond of the grey fencing, but I didn't have enought of the orange brown - my first choice. I'm a little surprised that some of you are saying that you like the first model better (perhaps it's the more squarish design). The 2nd is more symmetric and has more detail. I didn't spend much time on the furnishings, but one can get an idea of the intent to have a few rooms and a saloon as part of the hotel. The skeletons are just there to add a little fun.
  22. Athos: you are the Vignette King. Once again, an excellent MOC, and a very tasteful one. I also like how you did the baby. You're very creative at these.
  23. Here are some shots of the rooms within the Shady Inn: The bar as you enter the saloon (right side of the first floor): A better shot of the bar: A skeleton plays the piano (left side of the first floor): The red room (right side, 2nd floor): Chamber on the left side of the 2nd floor: Canopy bed (3rd floor): To the left of the canopy bed, the closet: Hidden exit from the closet to the roof: A shot of the entire backside: Enjoy!
  24. Thanks. Believe it or not, the 2nd one is just 2 studs wider in length and actually two studs less in width. It must be the third floor and the additional columns and design that gives it a much bigger appearance.
  25. Thanks for the feedback. I've taken some time to redesign this MOC. Here's the outcome: And some close-up shots of a treacherous band of looters being attacked by the undead:
