  1. The winning entries have also been posted on Brick Brothers at: www.Brothers-Brick.com Thanks to Andrew and Brick Brothers for publicizing. Congrats!
  2. I've never heard a one.
  3. Excellent article and I'm glad to see Lego doing better financially. I'm disappointed that Lego has shifted all manufacturing though. And I still dislike Bionicle. It's about time Lego gets back to the basics and focusses their efforts on their core products - bricks. They are now seeing what AFOL have been saying for years.
  4. I try not to bump old threads (unless by accident), but is it really wrong? - esp. if someone has an opinion or would like to add to an old discussion?
  5. The Green Wizard's spell book mysteriously opens as pictures and words begin to magically appear upon the tatered pages. The Eurobrick Mages have selected the winners of the Wizard's Challenge: Most Creative Wizard: TheBrickster submits to Sir Dillon for his entry, Larry of the Metal Arm. Best Overall Wizard: Master Aves Hawthorn by Sir Nadroj Best Wizard's Workshop: TheBrickster with The Snake Oil Wagon of Professor Snidley C. Rooked, Wizard of Curiosities. And an Honorable Mention to Alex54's Maponos the Druid. And to all the participants: an excellent job! Let it be known throughout the Eurobricks Kingdom and extended kingdoms of Legoland that the wizards mentioned above are the most powerful wizards within the realm. Until the next challenge, good luck!
  6. Excellent story. I can't wait to see pictures of the mansion and the spooks within. *skull*
  7. Yes. I saw this on Brick Brothers web site for Cindo de Mayo (May 5). I may duplicate the idea for the figs. They all look very Mexican. Thanks.
  8. 26 have voted so far. I'm going to announce the winners tomorrow evening. Last Call for Votes
  9. Gusmoore: War is very ugly and it brings out the worst in both sides. I know very little about Mexican history, but all countries have accomplishments and things to be proud of. It's very easy to focus on the bad, but we can learn a lot from other people and cultures - art, literature, music, food (to name just a few). Thanks for your comments. Yes, That is the look I was going for to fit in with the WW theme. The inspiration behind this MOC was a combination of the Alamo fort, a few Spanish missions that I was admiring, and old buildings from a few of the Westerns that I've seen over the years. It is more intended to be Southwestern in look and design.
  10. Many Playmobil collectors are in to Garden Wargaming. Take a look at the scale of this Alamo battle:
  11. No problem. Thanks for the vote.
  12. Thanks for sharing Hobbes. I've seen a lot of these over the years. There's even some better ones than this out there. I'll post a few when I locate.
  13. Hi MS. You may also want to send BrickMiner a PM. I'm not sure what he has, but he's another big fan of the WW collection.
  14. What I like most about this particular video is the combination of the music and the Lego minifigs. I love how the drummers are in sync with the music. The alligator scene is pretty good as well.
  15. I was searching YouTube for some old classic songs/videos, and stumbled upon this great Lego video of the Battle of New Orleans. The song is sung by Johnny Horton and it's perfect for the Lego battle. Take a look: This is something I would have made if I were talended in the video arena. It's nicely done and a bit funny.
  16. Watch it! That's Brickster NOT BrickMiner!
  17. Widdi: welcome to Eurobricks. I'm very impressed with your rendering of a Victorian Haunted House. I'm very fond of haunted houses for one, and secondly, you've done an excellent job at designing one. Excellent baseplate to use. I have it from the Sphinx's Surprise and never thought of using it for a Haunted House base (being desert and all). Nice fence and gates, plus the trees remind me of something Lego would use in one of their Studio Monster sets. I like the entry to the house and the roof/fence pieces on the roof the best. The style is perfect for a haunted house. I'm a little surprised you used red though. I would think a color like lt. green would really make this look more realistic - but surprisingly, the red doesn't look bad at all. I would love to see a shot of the entire back side as well. Overall, very nice. Do you plan to actually build or do you just render? The real thing would look terrific!
  18. Thanks SD. I was very pleased with the way this MOC came out. It probablt took me about four hours to design, trying different pieces and colors. It's amazing how long one can spend on a single little build like this. In regard to the horses, I probably will not add another, but I see what you and the others mean. I'm honestly OK with one horse pulling the wagon, although a little large. The decal is my only complaint; because I did not print it on photo-paper. It lost the high gloss look, and I want to work on the border which I had to cut off a bit. Overall, I'm please with it and it seems to be doing pretty good in the Wizard's Challenge. PS. I used a better image of the wagon redoing the original photo. Here it is:
  19. Thanks for your vote Athos. Here's my picks: Most Creative: My own. I think it was completely different than all the other entries (with the exception of Phes's Peg-Legged Pirate Wizard with Wand. Best Overall Wizard: ImperialShadows' Aluzar. Not real fond of the entire name (a bit too long), but i just like the wizard. Black tunics, beard, this is my kinda guy. Best Wizard's Workshop: Alex54's Maponos the Druid's Outdoor Workshop. It just looks really nice with the green and brown. The background image even blends in wonderfully. And the wizard cutting some herbs was a great touch. And let me just add that they are all very good.
  20. This contest is now closed for entries. Please vote for your favorites wizards here: Wizard's Challenge - Poll
  21. Wizard's Challenge 14 powerful wizards have come from far away lands to do battle with one another as part of the ultimate challenge of magic. Some draw upon the forces of the Dark Realm *skull* , while other use ancient scrolls, potions, and magical talismans to cast their spells. Some bring with them the magics of mythical kingdoms, while another hops along with a wooden peg leg. Peg leg? :-| Who among them is the most Creative Wizard? The Best Overall Wizard? and which has the Best Wizard's Workshop. I call upon the magical powers of the Eurobrick Mages to cast their votes now. Who among them will win the Wizard's Challenge? You may review the entries here: Wizard's Challenge: Entries
  22. The rules should apply to all (including me). I shared a picture of the entire wagon so that members can see exactly what the workshop is. What I was getting at in terms of an "interior build", is the INSIDE or WORKSHOP of the MOC vs. an entire castle/tower. Does that make sense? I was trying to prevent people from building huge castles and fortresses, but rather just building the workshop component (otherwise this would be a castle contest). My workshop is the wagon, just as some of the other MOCs are a bit different, like Alex's exterior druid workshop and Phes's island tree being the workshop. These entries are a bit creative and don't fit the traditional "castle theme", so I ask for a little flexibility in judging them. I think they're all very good and meet the intended rules of the contest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In regard to your entry SD, I love your wizard. Over the past few days, I've been trying to think of ways to build a sombrero for some of the citizens of my Old Mexico WW sub-theme. You gave me an excellent idea. I have to see what colors I might have available.
  23. Thanks BM and others who responded. I appreciate your comments. I considered placing the wheels on the outside as Athos suggested. I really liked the height which I think adds character to the wagon. I'm picturing this large, over-sized cartoon-like wagon pulled by a scrawny little horse (perhaps something out of Dr. Seus book). I did not consider the use of the larger Elephant Caravan wheels. That's not a bad idea- but I must admit that I'm very pleased with the overall look of this MOC. I don't always say this, but I really like it. I may redo the decal though on photo paper vs. what I used. BM: you should still build your Doc's Snake Oil MOC. I would love to see it.
