  1. It's not wholly a personal reason of mine alone, because as a DC fan myself, I am in fact interested to see where Lego will take a DC-based CMS. Quite simply though, I still feel such a move is unfair to those whom Lego hasn't anything else to offer otherwise, because sometimes a CMS may be all they have to look forwards to. And besides, I don't think Lego is as hindered by budget with the DC SuperHeroes theme as you figure it may be, as Lego may have other reasons for excluding certain characters from playsets.
  2. Pssst, I have already started a topic for Creator's offerings for next year back on the 17th...
  3. Practically speaking, I'm hoping this Series will be keeping its horizons broad as so to establish itself as part of a new long-running subtheme for the Collectable Minifigure line, much like Disney's own two Series. However, putting that aside, it would be kinda fun if it were more specific to a particular facet of DC's publication/media history; like, I'd love to see a Series made up of Darwyn Cooke's own signature renditions of DC's Golden Age/Silver Age characters...
  4. Besides his ever-enduring popularity, Batman is the "boy-with-the-most-toys" amongst superheroes. He's just not as hard of a character to contrive vehicular builds for compared to everyone else. Having said that though, I'm still not thrilled with this year's change in branding for the DC SuperHeroes theme.
  5. Nah.... i dont see how it would affect to give him a map or the red gem. They dont have troubles with overlaps like that. On Series 8 they included an Alien Villainess to go with the Alien Conquest theme Well, though we have yet to learn of this particular CMF's name, I'm pretty certain he won't be branded either an Adventurer nor an Archaeologist. But why? Is it quite simply that Lego wishes to reserve either archetype for future Series?
  6. Well, seriously, how could it?
  7. By pointless, I mean besides the primary ulterior point of the Collectable Minifigure theme, and that is to provide supplementary material for themes, genres, and licenses that never had, currently aren't, and may never be represented by a playset-based line of products. Sure, the theme has been utilized to provide higher-quality figures of characters and archetypes previously represented in past and present products, but I appreciate the theme best when it doesn't overlap with other product lines that exist at the same time, making it up to fans who Lego would otherwise have absolutely nothing to offer to.
  8. This is highly wishful thinking, but in my continued fretting over the Johnny Thunder homage's seeming change in occupation, I had a thought... What if this CMF was recontextualized from an Archaeologist/Adventurer to an Explorer/Biologist to avoid overlap with an upcoming in-house playtheme to be released next year within the vein of Adventurers?
  9. I feel that once Lego takes advantage of this rumored CMS for such, they'd have no qualms about shoehorning those characters into playsets right after the fact now that they're equipped with those needed molds, hence making their introduction within that Series pointless.
  10. But, what's to stop them from shoehorning those characters into playsets after the fact, right after a CMS arms them with those necessary molds? Like I'd said, the Collectable Minifigure theme is valued best for archetypes, genres, IPs, and characters that could've never been possibly viable within playsets, both before and after the fact. Alright, I'll admit, both a Red Son Superman and Gotham by Gaslight Batman would be pretty sweet to see from such a Series.

  13. As I've just lamented elsewhere, I feel a DC Universe CMS would be redundant more due to the fact that any characters/variants such a Series would offer could be just as easily shoehorned into playsets. Sure, I may love everything DC Comics has to offer, but the Collectable Minifigure theme is better reserved for archetypes, genres, IPs, and characters that could never be viably represented within playsets.
  14. Yeah, I dunno why everybody started out calling it an ice zombie or frozen knight or white walker or whatnot… Heh, we probably all had Ninjago's Frozen Samurai in the back of our heads, hence it being our first thought.
  15. Eh, really? To me, the suggestion of such does sound just as promising as the long-term potential Disney can offer, all the while being just as pointless as the Wizarding World CMS. Seriously, unless this DC Universe CMS is more particular than I'm presuming it is, what could it offer that couldn't just be shoehorned into a playset? You see, in terms of only their comic-based offers, I admire the creative freedom both the DC and Marvel SuperHeroes themes have over their source material compared to other licensed themes, as they're at liberty to shoehorn any character they want into whatever contrived playset they cook up, hence there being no pressing need for a complementary Collectable Minifigure Series.
  16. Neither did I, and that's because I've decided to reserve my final judgement for the official images. Based on what we have now though, I'm thinking the "Blacktron Bounty Hunter" might come in First Place for me, with "Johnny Thunder" in Second Place. The latter would've come in First Place if they hadn't seemingly changed this intended homage's occupation from Adventurer/Archaeologist to that of a Naturalist/Herpetologist(?)
  17. Well, that's technically what the unthemed, non-licensed Series already are, except that they have to share space alongside City-themed and costumed archetypes. But sure, just one otherwise "normal" Series uninhibited by CMFs that complement currently-existing playthemes would be undoubtedly appreciated.
  18. Last night, that's what I'd thought too, but I see @Peppermint_M had come by and edited this topic without doing so.

  21. For me, I'm certain that Series 20 will end-up being released in either April or May next year, much like Series 10 and 18 had been; whereas for the January/February and August/September release slots, they're more likely than not to be licensed in some form, perhaps with the January/February slot lent towards a newcomer IP to the Collectable Minifigures theme, while the August/September slot will be hopefully reserved for Disney Series 3. Yeah, that's how I approach much nowadays myself. Where can I find these designers’ quotes? New Elementary - LEGO® MINIFIGURES: TARA WIKE & AUSTIN CARLSON INTERVIEW I'd dream of an ADVENTURERS-themed Series myself...
  22. You do know Lego isn't an American company, right? Exactly; and besides, a Pilgrim/Mayflower Colonist can also be thought of as a historical archetype rather than just a seasonal archetype.
