I'm not super familiar with the Arkham games in depth, and I didn't realize they had a Batwing. But your rendition of it is pretty spot on! Dieselpunk! Its funny you mentioned that, because the Batwing reminds me of this fighter plane by Flickr user Jonhall18 with its long nose.

Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Why do you say that? I think Lego could be looking into the theme again since various film studios are producing films based on the genre. We have Indy 5 slated for 2020, the Tomb Raider reboot origin story to be released in March next year, and MCU Spidey Tom Holland has been cast as a young Nathan Drake in an Uncharted origin story film. And like I proposed in this thread above, a Dieselpunk take on Adventurers with wilder interpretations on period set vehicles may attract kids to the sets. Other than aircraft, there are some cool possibilities for Dieselpunk land vehicles for such a theme. Here are some great MOC examples from Flickr user Beau Donnan to give a rough idea. -
This is perhaps the largest CS styled rover I have ever seen! The brick built wheels are what make it for me!

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I could see the storyline revolving around a "putting gender differences aside" concept instead, since it looks like Finn's sister has perhaps kept her collection of Lego separate from the basement setup. Also, I guess this explains the detail given back in Nov. 2014 regarding the sequel featuring many more female characters. Also, in this below Entertainment Weekly interview with Chris McKay, he talks about the events of TLBM resulting in repercussions for TLM2. http://ew.com/movies/2017/02/13/lego-batman-director-burning-questions-ending/ "There’s definitely a part for Batman in LEGO 2. Everyone loves Will Arnett and the Batman character. There are going to be the repercussions of what’s happened in [LEGO Batman]. If you agree that he went through some change, there’s more stuff in store for Batman in LEGO 2. I should say, that above linked interview has some interesting tidbits regarding TLBM and the broader Lego Cinematic Universe, so its worth a read if you haven't seen it already. -
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Interesting, so Finn's sister has her own Lego setup in her own room, not the basement. So I guess the "space" factor described by Chris McKay must be emblematic of traveling "upstairs" (a.k.a. upwards into space ). Batman would DEFINITELY not enjoy being amongst a girl's Lego collection. Perhaps some members of the Justice League (if not the whole gang) will join Emmet in his rescue mission. -
Future Action and Adventure Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've shared this idea vaguely on another action theme idea thread and a theme idea thread on the General Lego Discussion forum, but have never elaborated upon it, so this would be the best thread to share it. I think a mid-1940s set, aviator centric successor/sequel to Adventurers with Dieselpunk, Sky-fi inspirations would fly quite well (pun intended ) with kids. The theme would be helmed by an elder Johnny Thunder leading a group of ragtag aviators racing to find and dismantle an ancient Mayan doomsday device/relic in an uncharted Central American jungle before a mad German industrialist baron acquires it for nefarious purposes. Johnny and his comrades would be going up against both the baron's flying mechanical men ( inspired by the robot attackers of 2004's Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow), undead relic/doomsday machine guardians with large bird like glider craft to engage in dogfights with, and a brick built depiction of the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl, a large feathered snake like beast guarding the relic who engages in aerial combat with our heroes. Here I have some great Sky-fi fighter planes from Flickr users Jonhall18 and Fredoichi pictured below to serve as design ideas for the planes this theme would feature. Here also are some pictorial examples of the above mentioned mechanical flying monsters from Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. -
I'd love to see the concept art, along with details regarding the many inspirations behind the theme! Regarding what you said about more sets being made in mind for adults, I think that whatever products are made for an older age range should stay within a kid friendly context and avoid being something that would be of no interest to Lego's core target customer base (6 to 11 year olds). Perhaps these concerns of mine are unfounded, but I feel that if Lego increased their focus on specifically adult targeted products, that some people would demand or expect Lego to acquire or make more products based upon questionable IPs or material that would not be at all suitable for Lego's core audience. Lego probably gets enough demand or harassment currently for such products, but I'm just concerned that this would uptick if Lego were to cater to specifically fan interests irrespective to their core audience.

Lego Inside Tour 2017

Here is the exclusive set for 2017's Inside Tour, a minifigure scale model of the Lego House Tree of Creativity. https://brickset.com/article/28654/this-year-s-inside-tour-set-has-been-revealed -
This video is number 28 on YouTube trending currently, which is pretty cool. Very 101 information for most of us here, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
You mentioned Finn's sister and it reminded me of a detail tidbit about the sequel given by PL and CM back in February 2015, regarding the dystopian element of the plot and the introduction of Emmet's sister. I wonder if these elements have survived the script rewrite in July last year? Back in Nov. 2014, they also said in a interview regarding the sequel that there will be more female characters introduced; so unless this has also changed with the rewrite, maybe we may see some minidoll characters. The only thing is, minidolls have hardly any animatable poseablity, unless they adopt a jointless movement style like TLBM or TLNM. Now I'm definitely expecting characters introduced in the two above mentioned films to make at least minor returning appearances, particularly Robin, and at least one of the ninjas. As far as Bionicle goes, the theme has to have some more significant reference or cameo since it plays such a large role in the Lego Group's history. Maybe their darker tone could play nicely with the dystopian element in the film. -
I know this is an old topic, but there is some great info and links here, and it would be nice to see what others may contribute. For me, The Brick Fan is my choice as far as news goes, especially when I don't have as much time to wander around here. I do prefer Brickset over Bricklink for research of parts and sets since I find it more navigatable. But I will use Bricklink when Brickset's inventory may be incomplete. If I'm not searching Flickr, The Brothers Brick highlights some great MOCs on a daily basis, and may bring to my attention a builder who I might not be familiar with. One of the most interesting Lego Blogs I frequent is New Elementary, mentioned by a few posters here already. The blog hosts many contributors for new part contests, which showcase some amazing results, especially from the recent Lego Font and "Nexogon" contests. New part geometry posts there also make for some interesting reads.

It looks like the smaller X Wing canopy utilized a lot in TLBM sets, but just in unprinted Trans-white. I can't really tell if it has been scaled down from the cinematic version, but nonetheless it's not that bad. -
http://screenrant.com/danny-elfman-compose-justice-league-score/ Just a bit of Justice League news, Danny Elfman has replaced Junkie XL as the film's score composer. As much as I liked Hans Zimmers' work on MOS and the Nolan trilogy, its pretty cool to see Elfman doing JL since he did the score to Burton's Batman.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Perhaps this should be a separate topic, so please make it one if so, but I would like to ask for speculative/wishful discussion... What themes would you like to see represented, make a presence, or made more prevalent The Lego Movie sequel? If we were take their statements at face value, we can presume the sequel will have a heavy space presence, after Chris McKay described TLM2 as a "action space musical". So what are your thoughts, opinions, and hopes for this subject? -
Many castles have been made by Lego though the years with large premade parts for easy modular construction and low set cost, something Creator lacks, which is definitely a good thing. An Expert castle would be a most grebbled build filled with many advanced construction techniques, while normal sets could be small medieval village houses like the many Creator house sets introduced each year that are so popular. I would be most surprised if they didn't, no special edition sets were done for 2008 for either space or castle since they already themes at the time (2007-2009 Castle and Mars Mission). Currently we don't have either. Well, City revolves around concepts and situations kids see and interact with on a daily basis, while many other fictionally based themes may need more storyline and character backup for kids nowadays, verses maybe back then. So much of popular media is composed of excess hyper stimulation that traditional storylines look dull and flat to many kids nowadays. But having said all that, City does remain pretty " boring". Playmobil may not be a construction toy, but as a play set model, yes, I do envy them for that. That's the thing about so many of these "big bang" themes, they fall victim to becoming relics of their era, instead of becoming potential classics based upon timeless material. But hey, who's to say that just because they aren't based on tried and true material that they have no potential to become classics for the generations that grew up with them? The kids that grew up with these themes may grow up to be legendary AFOLs. Or not.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well at least the Vintage Tram successfully made it to 10K, but other than that, it's really a shame there haven't been any 10K train projects for Ideas/CUUSOO this whole time. I figured perhaps that a licensed train project would have some success on Ideas, such as Thomas the Tank Engine. But I eventually learned that intellectual property is actually OWNED by Mattel. So much for that idea. -
http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-creator-double-decker-bus-10258-rumored-for-july-vip-release/ Is there another discussion on this forum about 10258? I'm surprised at the lack of response or discussion over this rumor! I just read about this when I got home on The Brick Fan, and no one is talking about it?

The X Wing canopy would work better with a more rigid, angular styled craft, while the other would need plenty of curved slope bricks for the build to complement the canopy. Also, if it is available in LDD, use the printed X Wing canopy from TLBM Batwing, since its black frame prints would work great with the rest of the color scheme. Its funny, but I just remember back in 2014 seeing a TLM poster with Benny (pictured below) that had a starfighter in the backdrop with the other canopy you mentioned in Trans-yellow. This I remember was discussed a bit at the time, with hopes of the craft becoming a set, but instead we got the SPACESHIP!

I like the modular concept also, I'm surprised Lego hasn't adopted it for many current themes, especially big bang themes. I guess it's sort of is a Voltron, Power Rangers Zord concept, perhaps for that reason Lego has avoided it to keep from looking copycat-ish. By the way, I like how you used the Y-Wing canopy in Trans-yellow for this Blacktron I build, since I've always thought it would be perfect for the theme in that color. The canopy sort of takes after the look of the front of many Blacktron I sets, such as set no. 6894 Invader (pictured below).

This is most definitely a concern to me, considering that the last non "big bang" action theme we had was Ultra Agents in its second and last year in 2015. It was also the only theme fitting that bill for 2015, and now we haven't had another such theme since then. Like I said though, I do like Nexo Knights, and Ninjago and Chima have given us some nice sets and parts, but they don't really fill a more generalized genre. That's what was great about themes such as space, castle, pirates, Adventures, agents, and others; they had a basis in familiar storyline archetypes, not needing to lean on a tie in TV show or books. Perhaps there is hope for these subthemes in the Creator theme, something both @danth and @LegoMonorailFan have proposed in topics recently, but Creator couldn't fulfill everything a theme would have to offer, such as new parts or heavy amounts of minifigures. But Creator may change along the line hopefully.

DC Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
If Lego was going to do new arm mold, they should have just done something that resembles a normal minifigure arm, just with an antistud. Otherwise it makes the whole figure look off kilter, and also makes the piece limited for repurposing. I mean, both Cyborg's arms look symmetrically alike.- 3,020 replies
