Well, I may not a fan of modernistic "City" archetypes in the Collectable Minifigure theme for particular reasons, but at least they fill some kind of occupational purpose, whereas "costumed" archetypes on the other hand just seem no better than as a throwaway gag.
-
Huh, like an overhead view of the ship or one from the same angled perspective as the set's box art?
-
Well, I think that can be said for nearly all "costumed" CMF entries... I think you contradict yourself here. How's it hard for Lego to cook-up fresh ideas for further CMF archetypes when @Robert8's work alone proves otherwise?
-
From the looks of it, I'm guessing the Green Brick Suit guy is this Series' commemorative CMF honoring the theme's tenth anniversary? Having mulled over the offerings for a little while now, I suppose it's not all that bad? I'll likely be reserving final judgment for when the first images hit the web, but to me it just doesn't sound like much over an improvement over Series 19 looking at it as a whole. As for the individual CMF though, that Viking and Pirate Woman do sound kinda cool, and I suppose the "Red Ranger" and "Rocket Girl" will be of some degree of interest to Sci-Fi fans. Come to think of it, the "Red Ranger" could be thought of as the theme's first-ever instance of Manga/Anime representation, something I've always wanted to see from a future Series, ideally envisioned in the form of a Mecha Pilot CMF as a homage to Lego's Exo-Force theme. I likewise had the same thought when I read "Red Space Baseball Cap"...

We've finally got our first publicly disclosed descriptions for Series 20's offerings this year via @promobricks, and there are definitely more figures than Series 19 had that'll be of interest to Historical/Castle/Pirate fans here... Themes LEGO should discontinue
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
While I too wouldn't wish to see that "imperialist ubermensch" trope carry on over, I personally still wish to see a Space theme that fully embraces most of those old-fashioned Space Opera clichés even more so than Space Police III had done, especially in its overall tone and aesthetic style. I mean, would anyone here strongly object to an honest-to-goodness Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers inspired Space theme that's not Star Wars? -
Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I know I'm being nitpicky here, but I personally wouldn't consider subthemes of City to be reboots unless they're adopting from another playtheme outside of City. So by that standard, 2015's Deep Sea Exploration subtheme could be considered a reboot of Town's 1997 subtheme Divers, while a "reboot" of 2016's Prison Island should instead be thought of as a revisitation.- 438 replies

Why? Why can't even the Collectable Minifigure theme get over giving modernistic "City" archetypes such prevalence given the potential it has?

Themes LEGO should discontinue
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well then, what would be a better "system" that they could go by as an alternative? How else could they distribute CMF in a less frustrating manner? -

I was hoping for the exact same thing. But even with bad movies, there are still shows like the Clone Wars or Mandalorian... And as long as those exist, Star Wars isn't going anywhere unfortunately. Perhaps it's too early to say if the same holds true for Disney Plus' live-action shows, but during the heyday of The Clone Wars, TV shows just didn't seem to affect the coexistence of in-house Space themes alongside Star Wars in the same way cinematic features have. I get that. I don’t mind it so much, as they’re easy enough to figure out who’s in there, despite being a bit time consuming. There was quite a few of these types of toys when I growing up as well, plus I was big on trading cards of all sorts, so definitely used to the blind bag concept. Not knowing what you’re buying, in a sort, is off putting a bit. I personally wouldn't want the CMS "blind-bag system" to go anywhere, as it has afforded us many archetypes from themes and genres that otherwise could've never been viably represented in any other context. Very well said @meliander, especially on that last paragraph... -

Yes. We got one with the 10th series with an exclusive Toy Soldier. Now that we are getting the 20th series maybe we could get another one? Having saw this on @StoneWarsDE, I almost wonder if we aren't given that this will be releasing in September... StoneWars.de - New LEGO Minifigures Manual will be Released in September

DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, it's not so much whether I can see his ears or not as much as it's that the shape of the cowl just seems odd to me, as if there's something different going on than what we've previously seen, hence my suggestion. Also, good point @MisterBatfleck regarding the insignia, as I hadn't thought of that... That's another pretty good point, because to me, what we've seen so far just doesn't look that far off from the Nolan Batsuit. -

DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

What are you talking about? Oh you meant the 2021 movie. The Bat-Suit looks darn tootin’ good. I wanna see if those ears are short or long on the cowl now. Great design choices so far I say. https://screenrant.com/batman-robert-pattinson-costume-bat-suit-reveal-video/ Is it just me, or does he actually have First Appearance-style "Wolverine" ears? -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's quite possible, and likewise regarding The Dwarves' Cottage, as Lego could've already had such a set in the works for the Disney Princesses line, though of course as a moderately-priced retail set rather than a larger D2C. On the other hand, Lego may be cooking-up D2Cs based upon both the Mansion and the Cottage in anticipation of their rejection in review. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, as I just contemplated over on another topic, there's always that chance Lego could revisit the project in the same manner that they did for 2015's UCS Helicarrier and the following year's Ghostbusters HQ, considering that those sets and a few other coincidental examples had very similar LEGO Ideas projects preceding them.
