Jack Skellington House for my Halloween Village
theycallmemrdarko replied to theycallmemrdarko's topic in LEGO Town
It's pretty sturdy, I fixed my imgur link which shows it spinning in one of the images. I built it in 4 main sections that all connect with a technic axle from the base of the house to the roof section. Being able to pull it apart makes it easy to transport. -
Based off Stephen Gofer's Jack and Sally MOC, figuring out how to build this behemoth was quite the challenge. In the end it just barely was taller than the new Haunted House. Using only the few pictures available, I had to guess how a lot of the house was constructed while making sure it was stable enough to live with my 2 younger daughters. I constructed the whole thing as 4 separate sections that all come apart and slide in together using a large technic axle. Here's a few more images: Jack Skellington Album with a video of it spinning 360 degrees.

Thank you! I'm hoping to add the High School to next year's village, just waiting for it to go on sale at some point. Hopefully they continue that line as it's the only thing we have that's close to a Halloween theme. Now I just need to get started on my Christmas Village which takes quite a bit more time as everything will be brick-built for that.

I used mostly existing Halloween themed sets and added a few spooky elements to others such as the Great Hall and Hagrid's Hut. Hoping to add a few more sets next year and create a more standard village-like layout. Full album found here: https://imgur.com/a/LYhOdXl

Best And Worst Of 2017

That is the part I'm struggling with at the moment. One on hand I want it to have that authentic NYC feel to it but on the other hand it definitely needs some color. I'll keep toying with it and see if I can find a good middle ground. Thanks for comments, really appreciate them.

Just a quick update to the exterior: 20170822_002314 by David Kerkes, on Flickr 20170822_002413 by David Kerkes, on Flickr 20170822_002533 by David Kerkes, on Flickr

I really just tried to mimic a few of the things I've seen in bars I've been to for mine. For a sci-fi bar I really don't know, I just immediately think of the bar from Star Wars. Maybe try Google searching some images of sci-fi bars, I'd bet there's a decent amount of fan-created artwork to give you some ideas.

Thank you very much! Thank you, the entrance was definitely a chore to get right but ended up very happy with the result. Hoping to have an update early next week with the finished 2nd floor and 3rd floor exterior.

Thank you! As far as the barstools I've seen it both ways but maybe I'll try some more variations for traditional backless stools. The mirror is from the Detective's Office but I believe can also be found in Assembly Square. Thank you very much! Yeah I plan on swapping it for dark tan which will match the picture wall. Should make it feel a bit more bar-like.

[MOC] Amsterdam Canal Houses

Fantastic as usual! Really enjoy the color palette you used on this one. Your interiors are just amazing looking, especially the music store. Great job :)- 25 replies

This looks fantastic! Top to bottom all the details are superb! Love the section with minifig statues.
-
Wow! What a fantastic build. Love all the details even though some are a bit tough to see. Just absolutely gorgeous. Nice touch with the guy riding a Segway :)
-
Thank you very much and will do! Thank you! Yeah I'm really liking the new arch piece, makes the ability to tuck the windows inside a little better than having them sit behind. Hoping for 3 full stories and a short roofline when it's all done. Man your stuff is just awesome btw, hope I can get there someday, only been at it for about a year so far.

Thank you very much! Thank you! Still tinkering away at the inside a little but I should be starting on the 2nd floor this week.

Thank you very much! The jukebox was a bit trickier than I was expecting but in the end came out how I imagined. I'm still getting used to using SNOT techniques in builds, not really my forte yet. Thank you! I'm hoping to have it done in the next few weeks and will post an update with some better photography. Thank you very much! Yeah I love that lion head piece, made it a bit harder to get everything to fit with the arches above it but it all worked out.
-
Thank you very much! Yeah the stairs will be separate much like the Pet Shop modular. Still trying to decide if I want apartments or little office upstairs but just trying to nail down the 1st floor first.
-
Here's a modular that is currently a work in progress. Still a lot of work to do on floor 2 and 3 but just looking for any finishing touches people could recommend for the bar portion. I do plan on swapping out my breakaway wall to be dark tan so it won't feel so industrial. Great job! Really love the use of the containers as the front pillars and the atms. I would agree with the others on the drainage pipe, maybe do something like the Parisian Restaurant has on the backside. Overall a really good job especially since you weren't really planning on making a full building.
-
Very nice work! I had planned to do an all black version of my modded Arctic Roller in the near future and I think seeing yours just makes me want to start on it asap.

This is really fantastic. I'd tell you what parts I like most but I like just about everything you did. The use of windows for railings, just damn, looks awesome. -
Looks like the car came out great and fits the style of your building quite well. Good job!

I think both of these setups are really great but I find myself way too brick/plates/tile poor to implement either of them. My solution is to use road plates but build all my modulars 4 studs closer to the edge of their baseplate than the standard. This way the sidewalk blends into the tile covered road plates without being extremely large but big enough to feature planters, benches, bus stops and still having at least 4-6 studs of walking/bicycling room.

(Completed) XL Detective's Office 10246
theycallmemrdarko replied to theycallmemrdarko's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you very much! The outdoor patio is definitely my favorite part of it. Thank you! Thank you! My daughter absolutely loves the Disney minifigures so I try to use them whenever I can.
