Thanks a lot jfbat & TheLazyChicken, bet there is a high hitrate at brickset now... Anyhow, the review just confirmed my will to get it, and not just one...

Dear JJ. As PMed the other day, you definitely have the skills to be an expert creator designer Dear Jamie, I believe that taking the time to respond and elaborate about your creation process to help JJ feel better about his concern also delivers a positive message to the AFOL community. Thanks for taking care!

Dear JJ, I understand you had to bring this up, you are right, the feather technique is similar to the one you made with the Police HQ Restaurant_Feathers par SwissBrick, sur Flickr Munstraat_Police_HQ par SwissBrick, sur Flickr The inspiration might really come from your building, but it is not IMO a bad thing, if Jamie and his team were inspired by the very best MOCs that are out there and combine techniques to deliver the customer the ever best building experience without "stealing" an entire concept, then I am more than happy with it. As I don't have the skills, time and so on to do so, I am glad that TLG does it for me. I'd personally feel very proud if I were you (you can always send an email and ask if they could not send you a free 10243 for the inspiration, I would try...) Back on topic, yes, Olive Green is definitely not a colour you see that much in Paris, more in Germany for instance, but gee, it looks so good! Someone also mentioned the Eiffel Tower in the Chez Albert's sign (in the A), that's very often used in France, like you can see in the galleries lafayette logo (in the tt) (famous store):

THANK YOU TLG and Jamie!!! Since the CC & GG came out, I have never been that impressed by a set, I always had something to complain about, but here, I just have to say BRAVO. Also have not noticed the community beeing so unanimously agreeing since a while (but do not read everything ). Ok, dec. 16th, should be able to survive until then (also think it's the first time I'll buy more than one at release date) Here is a very fast attempt to include the Restaurant with others side to side: Modular_Steet_Palace_Cinema_Restaurant_modifié-6 par SwissBrick, sur Flickr Longue vie Lego!

Hi castor-troy, "Sometimes, a building looks good alone but it's not in accordance with the others in the layout : so I make some modifications... I think, there was too much dark red" You're definitely right, I think the changes, even if sometime minor, really add a lot, like the pub with CC, a great addition!!! I also love your theater, it looks "grandiose", just love it! Thanks for sharing.and inspiring! @+

What kind of AFOL are you? Are you a member of a LUG? No, lack of time plus events of the closest LUG held far away. Would you consider supporting more actively the online AFOL community (e.g. Eurobricks) as moderator, regulator (indexing, ...), making set reviews, etc.? If the answer is yes, where do you possibly see yourself contributing? Yes, set reviews would be great! Unfortunately most of the times I just can't get the hand on a set before someone else has already made a review (eventhough I get them a soon as available in my country). TLG, if you send me a set that has not yet been released, I'll make you a very objective, attractive and fun review Give it a chance and see your sales growing by let's say 2% in switzerand! ( = me buying the most sets I can after the review, even if I have to ask my bank for little kindness this month (but hey, it's a review on EB, my contact at the bank will love the idea, I am sure), + me spamming all my friends on FB, twitter, etc., + writing an article in the local newspaper + putting huge posters at the bus stations and spraying THESE BRICKS DON'T DESERVE TO STAY IN A BOX, GET THEM AND FREE THEM on the posters + Nooooooo, I don't need to do any of this, I am sure the quality, design, playability of the set will just be self-speaking (And as the set is not yet released, you cannot benchmark and therefore not even tell if there is a sales increase, so you just have to trust me, it will!

Hi The jersey Brick Guy, the "thing" is 7997 Train Station: http://www.brickset....ail/?set=7997-1 Good idea with the 4X4 baseplate blocks, how would you manage it, it is easy with 4 corner buildings, what's your idea? Thanks I believe this is the most "packed" city I've seen Hi lostrdriveway, yeah a big basement was important to choose the new house... I only have 3 proper tables yet but the plan is also to grow and being able to stand in the middle to reach every part of the layout Post some pics when you move, or if you already have some, I'd be curious to see a layout that fits on 6 to 8 tables..!!!

Hi Lasse, excellent work!!! I am not fond of modern architecure churches usually, but I must admit, yours looks fantastic!!! Even better than the real building in my opinion. The landscaping is perfect as well! Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

Hi Lostdriveway, sorry, it's probably about the third time you have to ask... The tables are 8mm plywood and the dimensions are 180 cm X 100 cm. They stand on 3 sawhorses each and are not tied one to another. I bought the sawhorses and the plywood separately, I just gave the dimensions. If I had to redo it, I'd go for 10mm thick wood. Plywood is not expansive. Here is a picture: IMAG0086 par SwissBrick, sur Flickr Hope it helps Cheers, Swissbrick

i am not that convinced by the price argument, if TLG would make one again, not for 400 USD but for 199, it'd sure be a best-seller.. Then an upper-floor mid-station...

I definitely need both Excellent, thanks for sharing!

Hi alois, amazing building there! The colors fit so well together! I also like the stairs and the arches on top of the windows! Excellent, thanks for sharing!

Hi Hoexbroe, thanks for the comment, yes I will try the backdrop, do you think that blue clothe/tissue would do it or should I go for painted wood? And does it have to be really close to the tables or can I leave room between tables and backdrop, allowing to move around the table? Thanks again and kind regards Hi, thanks laka! As I have a second railroad crossing, I will just need to wait for payday to get some straight roadplates to go through the countryside.. Kind regards! Hi Kristel, thanks for the comment! I aslo do prefer the townhall by itself but needed a 32 wide building to make the city block and really wanted to try it as block. You're right about the log cabin, will move it! Thanks again and kind regards Hi Wodanis, thanks for the comments! Yes you're right, initial plan was to have the town hall down the road and the other modulars on each side of the street. But the thig is that I wanted to try the block layout and also as Kristel was mentionning to have the sense of a bustling city, which I think is reached. I think I will not add a 3rd station until my tables grow bigger ... as for the trees, the leave color is neither painted nor an original lego product, the leaves come from: http://www.altbricks.com/cart/index.php?main_page=products_all Thanks again and kind regards! Hi lightningtiger, you definitely have an eagle eye I didn't even notice that it looked weird with the cinema's top section compared to the Café corner... Will see if I can fix that For the gas station, I really think I should try to build one like I saw in this forum that you guys master so well... but I think it'll wait until I get one more table...since as you say, it should be accessible from each side and I think 32 X 32 baseblate on a side of the street would really add something to the city! Thanks again and kind regards! Hi timmyc1983, thanks for the comments As I live in switzerland we are used to cold, therefore no open back building here... maybe I should add mountains on the backdrop that hoexbroe suggested thanks again and kind regards!

Modular Building 10243 Parisian Restaurant (2014 Modular Building)
SwissBrick replied to GRogall's topic in LEGO Town
Pictures might come sooner, if the new Lego store in Paris is to open this summer, a new exclusive modular would nicely enhance the openning... of course if the new ratatouille restaurant is built at the same time... Let's never give up hope..- 198 replies

Modular Building 10243 Parisian Restaurant (2014 Modular Building)
SwissBrick replied to GRogall's topic in LEGO Town
I think i will already thank you for a hundred times in advance GRogall, since I believe you'll keep spreading the news before anyone else again and again..! Parisian restaurant, sounds great to me! First thing I thought was like: Umh, it'll probably be in line with CC and GG... BUT if I think like that and already "expect" something in terms of design, it might surprise me like with the Palace Cinema that I did not much like at first sight... So I will not make up my mind this time. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to follow the discussion- 198 replies

Hi Mifody, brilliant work! i especially love the first module, lhe water tower & pump, the toilet, the container, the brick brick gas station and inside, the roof,, there are beautiful details everywhere... the plants are great too, and it goes very well with the brick road Also like the signs! A lot of details that are all harmonious with each other, you definitely see how much work it is! Thanks a lot for sharing and inspiring!!! I always want to make "big" cities, but I think I should consider having smaller surfaces packed with details like you and grow slower...That's my take away, again, thank you!

Hi LT & The Jersey Brick Guy, again, spot on... I was just looking at bricklink to see if I could get a large amount of grey tiles to cover the sidewalks and comparing the price with Pick a brick... So yes I will try to have a lot of tiles and have the front of the Town Hall + sidewalks tiled And yes, i also have the feeling that the city looks much bigger even if I had to remove some smaller buildings... Here is also the 2nd train station that cei had suggested. The train station office reminds me of the buildings you make LT, much less detailed but the scale is comparable (pictures from before latest update) IMG_4494 par SwissBrick, sur Flickr IMG_4493 par SwissBrick, sur Flickr IMG_4500 par SwissBrick, sur Flickr Thanks for the comments!

Hi BrickyBoy, as you, I am new to "mocing" and I think your first attempt is more than I would excpect from a begginer Very nice work indeed, I would like it in my city! The things I like is the facade and the different level of the staircase, also the towerish top that contrastst withe the flat roof. The tiled floor and "library" are really nice too. The camera and the "sculpture" inside add nice details to the building, very well done! One comment, I don't particularly like the big windows that look too much like the usual police sets windows, but in the meantime, i have no alternative solution and the building lookks great anyway! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your future builds!

Hi legobox01, welcome on EB! Love the BrickPirate 2013 torso minifig! Bienvenue, je me répète mais le torse mentionné plus haut et le reste (sourire inclus) sont super, well done! @+, SwissBrick

Hi Jersey Brick Guy, same here, kind of same prof. situation, beware... Once you get all of them and have to wait an entire year for a new modular, take into consideration that you have already bought the BrickCityDepot models instructions, you end up bricklinking trees... But hey, we now have Kristel making instructions, youhou, safe for the next couple of months... Anyhow, welcome on EB! KR, SwissBrick

Very Nice!!! Love the Camera Obscura concept: a small hole to the outside in a big dark (very dark) room and here is the scene you see outside in the small little hole in big upside down projected on the wall opposite to the hole. There you are, in a camera!
-
Hi Thanks for the response! Yes, I can understand that making instructions is not the easiest and funniest thing in the world... no problem, I can leave without, and maybe try models on my own, anyhow thanks for already having made one!! A lot of people disagree with the Cusooo project, personnaly, I was upset since models with 10'000+ votes did not make it through. Also, I disagree with your perception, LEGO does not always make set aimed at playability, just think of the Architecture line.... look at the modular line, the first one was not very palyable, furthermore I think that TLG would add some playable features to a set like this, thus loosing some detail features. Again, thanks for sharing and inspiring!
