  1. I thought dG built in Kali and some of the other realms from time to time (as a lot of folks here do), although I realize he is Avalonian (thank goodness, too, because I'm not sure we could keep up with his builds). And Mesozoic totally looks like Kali, although you are right, it was my mistake that I thought it was actually in Kali. Very cool nonetheless.
  2. One picture? Seriously? C'mon, that build is awesome! I want more! Seriously, it's a great build. I love the incorporation of the camper awnings, the terracotta roof, the great use of the flesh/dark orange combo for the ground level, and of course, the dinos. I think that you and Little John are really the epitome of the Kaliphlin builds, what I think of when I think of the Kaliphlin cities (although this is across the sea?). Great job! PS - I love the Kaliphlin Mesozoic Dumbledore.
  3. Welcome to the guilds! I think you have chosen your guild well--Varlyrio will definitely be the place for all your plotting! As Muakhah said, there are a few rough edges to the build, but you manage to hide a lot of that through closeups. I think if you were to clean up a lot of the edges, such as putting another layer of yellow bricks next to the large windows to make them flush with the wall, it would help. The dark grey plates are great for stone, but you can make something look like a cobblestone street with a bunch of grey tiles, things like that. Of course, all these things take bricks, so on a limited brick inventory, this is just fine. I really appreciate that you have taken what you have and built with it, even if you don't have 2.5M bricks. The story is awesome, and I look forward to reading more! Thanks for sharing!
  4. The cleared mountain pass looks awesome. I love this build--it's small, but very well done with high attention to detail. The vegetation looks natural as well. I think if you can get your first pic linked to the BB code as others have said, it will get you more views. Great job!
  5. Really outstanding tower. I love the blend of the various tan/browns, from the tan, to dark tan, to medium flesh to dark orange. Very well done. There's a lot of nice detail here, from the ornamental 1x1 bricks to the SNOTted tooth bricks and tiles. I like the sparse vegetation as well. I'm not entirely convinced by the rocky road, but it definitely serves its purpose. Does the tower have an interior? Very nice work!
  6. The trees are awesome! I like the irregular base, too. I like how the path the horse has trod is not only lower, but is also darker, I assume signifying mud. I like the blend of the greens, too. The only part I'm not 100% convinced by is the way the horse is hooked up to the mill. I know we're limited with what bricks we have, but something seems flimsy about it to me. Overall, excellent build!
  7. Thanks! Thank you! Thanks a bunch! Look for more returns as the castle gets built! Thanks a bunch! I tore down a bunch of other versions that I didn't like as well as the layered rock. Thanks! Stay tuned, and you'll see more! Thank you! I will have to look into adding things to the Flickr groups. I haven't used Flickr much so am not entirely sure how to do this, but I know a few folks on here have groups, so will probably look into it. Who knew that this little micro build would be so popular? I didn't think a whole lot of it when I built it, so it's kind of interesting to see how different things catch people's eye. Thanks all, for the feedback!
  8. Very well done. This build actually makes me think I may have enough pieces to do a Kali build someday. I love the various tans and browns, the nice tent pole structure on top of the flat roof, and the aquaduct. My favorite part of the build, though, has to be the use of the lime green in the garden. It's absolutely fabulous, especially in the desert land, and juxtaposes perfectly with the olive green. A darker green would really not have worked here, and it's perfect. Great job!
  9. Very nice! Can't even see the broken brown pieces! I like the choice of colors, the use of the printed cloth as a table covering, the varied buckets filled with colored flowers/plates, and the positioning of the guardsman. The lance use as a tentpole is also fantastic. I like that this is just a quick snapshot of Kaliphlin life. It adds a lot of color and depth to the desert lands.
  10. Uh oh! Here come the Qarkyr Kaliphlinites on a building frenzy! I love all the details that are in the gardens, including the use of the droid arm as a tool, and the SNOT tiles as flower boxes. Interestingly, the LBG wall syndrome here could have been repeated in tan, but you have enough texture to it that it looks just fine. The photography is very intimate, too, which is awesome. I would like to see a pulled back shot of the whole build, but I realize it's probably an open vig. Great job!
  11. You're really killing it with these micro builds! Great job! I love not only the build and creative use of pieces that others have commented on (sideways headlight bricks, the two grill pieces, the grill façade bricks for stairs, etc.), but I like that you have detailed the picture of your build pointing out each of the rooms in the fortress according to your story. By the way, what is that grey technic piece that you and Basilicus have used for the columns/towers? I can't seem to find it. Usually I am not a fan of the trans light blue, but because you have the bright green and pinks here (which are used to awesome effect), and your island is on the mystic isles, it seems to really bring out the brightness and compliment the highly magical feel of the build, and I think it works really well here. Great job!
  12. Love it! I like the incorporation of the light blue, too--that's really going to tie all your creations together and make them stand out. I think it's absolutely a great creation, although if you wanted to add another color of brown (dark tan, for instance), it might add more texture to the dirt. Probably not necessary since it's a small vig and looks great as is. Look forward to reading more about the Laelarielian troops!
  13. Once again, a gorgeous build. I have no idea how you had so much patience to line up all the bricks on the wall. That would drive me nuts! The dormers look awesome (I actually linked your thread to someone asking about dormer windows in the general discussion forum a few days ago), and the color choices are great, as always. The interior is pretty awesome, too. Is it a permanent cutaway on the back or do you have a back wall and remaining part of the roof as well? I'm impressed with the cleanliness of the tiled roof, and love the tudor style. Great job!
  14. Great little vig! I really like the use of the books and the printed piece on the wall. I think the level of detail here is really high, with the white paper on the desk, the scone and teapot on the small cabinet, the candles, etc., but at the same time this still appears to have the desert setting with clean square lines, and a simple interior floor and walls. It strikes a great balance between too much and too little detail. Very cool story, too, to help collaboratively establish the story with the desert king. Great job!
  15. Really outstanding work. Love the thatched roof. I considered using that technique (or something similar with the droid arms) for my last building, but didn't have the pieces, so went with technic pins. Looks great here, though. I think my favorite parts of your builds, though, are the different species of foliage. You do a great job making everything look natural, from the varied flowering bushes and evergreen trees to the small potted plant on the windowsill. Great job!
  16. soccerkid6 uses a lot of nice techniques for these windows:
  17. Thanks for the explanation! That makes sense and satisfies my curiosity.
  18. I have always been curious how gold is earned... is it X number of coins per entry, or is it on a 1-10 scale or something? I don't really care what my entries (or those of others) earned, just curious how these numbers are calculated, as the opacity seems to lend itself to the suggestion of randomness.
  19. This is a great example of not having to have massive builds to make them interesting. Your story is great, and it really holds together the various vignettes that you have put together. I like the flashbacks and the high level of detail that you are putting into the tale. I love that this is a role-building part of the forums, and you have really put the story into it. Great job!
  20. Awesome job! I would not have expected the sand blue (or whatever the official name is) to work well in the castle wall, but it does. The tudor is great, the nice design of the quarter circular tower on the wall is nice, and I like the small trees. I think you did a great job with the landscaping, since it's flat dirt with stones and some contour, but it makes me wince again at TLG's choice of reddish brown. I strongly preferred the old brown, as it seemed more natural to me. The prominence of the reddish brown in your build calls attention to it, and I wish they had never changed it. Don't really care as much about the light grey and the dark grey, but such is life. Anyway, well done!
  21. Very cool! I like the build, and the idea of showing a brothel that crops up in the aftermath of the civil war is probably on the nose. I'm not crazy about the base, unless it is meant to be a low stone wall blocking this property off from the rest of the city, but I think if you removed the lip it would help. I really like the vegetation. It's well manicured, but the color choices are great, and I love the use of the olive plant on top of the olive stalks--it really looks good. The whole scene gives me a very oriental vibe, and this could easily fit with some of the Ninjago stuff TLG is putting out right now. I think it's interesting that you incorporate it into Nocturnus, but it seems that the asian culture enters in small ways into many of the lands here. I think my favorite part is the merchant stall on the side. Well done!
  22. Super excited to have you with us Full Plate! I've seen your stuff on Flickr for a couple of years now, completely awesome!
  23. It is! I stacked 3 black 2x4 technic plates to get the shaft of the trident to sink down into the main block. Thanks! I had a great time with the anachronistic model. I figured I might as well use the crappy little setup I had and amuse myself. You'll see the shrine appear again in my next build, but now you know how it was really made! lol
  24. Very nice! I think it's amazing you got to take pictures of it in a real castle! I wish that TLG would release a tribute castle to the old 375. It was always one of my favorites growing up.
  25. I didn't post this originally because I thought the build was so poor that it didn't even deserve to be here, but now I've added a humorous picture at the end of the thread, so enjoy!
