  1. Anyone know yet when/if the u.s. will get one?... I'm worried we'll miss out.
  2. This is torture. 3 hours in... I'll be humming the theme song from The Right Stuff and performing a splashdown with the command module in my whisky glass...
  3. I still have not seen a video review of set 75191... only the written one with pictures, as described above. Anyone know if there is a video of this yet?
  4. I still don't understand why they can't make the clear handles easily removable as part of the build so that you can either "swoosh it" or display it...
  5. I like the rainbow inside. It makes assembly so much easier and more enjoyable. I tend to sip whisky as I build, and a million white bricks would end in tears...
  6. Honestly, I thought the same thing... until TLG went and changed it so it wouldn't return any results. Ha! The fact it stopped working is more of a confirmation than it working at the start...
  7. But this is in the EU only, correct? I'm not seeing anything in the US... Also, the R2-D2 finally sold out on the US shop at home site and it has been replaced by the Marvel "The Milano" microbuild... The R2 lasted a lot longer than I thought it would, which means either low demand or Lego had a lot of them made.
  8. Yeah... I grabbed these two sets right away since they were effectively 3x VIP points... I still can't find anything from Lego about this in the United States. Do you or anyone else know if this will apply to everyone? I already have the buildable R2-D2, and I'm debating getting the snowspeeder... if I buy that now, I'll get an extra R2, but I won't have anything else to get if the R3 promotion happens Today is my last day to decide. Any help is appreciated!!!
  9. You never know. My nephew is 5 going on 6 and he is putting things together like you wouldn't believe... Good idea holding onto it for x-mas. I already bought a couple batman sets for the nephew. My son is only 2.5, so I'm stuck playing duplos with him! You better order soon... almost all of the sets are on backorder or out of stock in the western hemisphere shop at home site.
  10. Sorry. I didn't mean it that way. Another thought based on your comment... I wonder how many people who were kids during the atomic era (50s-60s) will be into this set. I know they are 60-70 now, but a lot of them used to collect space toys as kids...
  11. Funny you say this. When the Mars Rover sold out I was really bummed that I didn't get one. Our family visited Kennedy Space Center that next spring. In the gift shop were two rovers. I grabbed both... Then decided not to be a greedy b@$t@rd and put the other one back. I can easily see this on sale at science centers all over the country...
  12. Nice Work DAD! - I think that you'll really love this set! You waited until May the 4th to buy a set at full price??? About 30 min ago, the snowspeeder went on sale, the R2-D2 polybag started, double VIP points went into effect, and all of the sales began in the United States. It appears that the only "main" (non-keychain, dvd, etc.) sets on sale are the combat frigate, spider droid, Krennic's Shuttle, U-wing, Poe's X-wing, Y-wing, Battle on Scarif, AT-ST walker, Rey's Speeder, Duel on Naboo, the Carbon Freezing Chamber, and a battle pack. All are 20% off. Y-wing and Battle on Scarif are two that I didn't have and they were an additional +50 points, which effectively made them 20% off with 3x VIP points. I grabbed both and got my free R2-D2. I'm going to wait until my VIP points come through to buy the snowspeeder...
  13. This thread started on May 24th of last year, so I'd guess sometime around the June 1st summer release window... But that's a pure guess.
  14. I hope you are right! I'm really digging the R2-D2... I hope everyone in the Eurobricks community gets one. I might give mine to my Nephew who is 5 and really into smaller sets (stuff that will only take him 10 minutes to build).
  15. If they pack 4 astronauts in there (1 extra), I'm going to burn the extra guy with some lighter fluid and matches. 4 astronauts in an Apollo mission... heathens! FYI: I don't actually burn Legos.
  16. Personally I think that the UCS Slave 1 is the single best UCS produced to-date (Yes, I'm not forgetting the older MF, the Super Star Destroyer, Star Destroyer, or Imperial Shuttle). The Slave 1 is the perfect balance. It is detailed, has great mini-figures, doesn't price itself too high, has the right amount of "play features" and just looks amazing. The Boba Fett that comes with it is phenomenal (probably one of the best SW mini-figures ever made). The ship was designed to be 1:1 scale when compared to the mini-figures. It's literally almost perfect. I'd recommend watching the designer video, as it will give you a good idea of what you get. This video is what finally sold me on it. Having said all that, with the exception of the Insult on Hoth, the UCS "playsets" have been really great in recent years. If you are looking for "dad's display sets", stick to the ones above. If you are looking for playability, read below. LOBOT-OMY beat me to it, but I'd keep an eye on the UCS Sandcrawler. It's a personal favorite of mine and is only one of two sets that I've purchased on day one. I'm still amazed by how many people overlook that set. It was awesome! The UCS Ewok Village and Death Star are also quite good. I'm hoping that the failure of the Hoth set doesn't discourage Lego from pursuing these in the future.
  17. I'm in the US. Not seeing 2x VIP points, the snowspeeder is not available, and the FREE helicopter is still the item added to the bag in lieu of the R2-D2. I'm a little concerned since I was hoping to jump on the R2-D2 before they sold out... If it's available everywhere except US, it might be sold out by the time it goes on sale here in 5 days. As one of the people who was excited about this promo (didn't care if it was a mini-figure or not), I'll be very bummed out if I can't get my hands on one.
  18. I thought that the polybag was only available from the 4th-7th... Is this in UK? An August release doesn't seem to pair up with any of the other rumors. Most of them have insinuated a late September / early October release...
  19. Dates show a 14 month range, but nothing about a limited quantity. I would hope that they'd increase production during those 14 months if demand was high... Any idea as to whether they'll be super limited or not??
  20. My cousin works at Nasa... He's in! I can see a lot of non-Lego people getting into this set, just due to the subject matter...
  21. I picked up the UCS Bwing recently. I didn't get a very good deal on it at $250 us). But... I felt that I needed to get it now while the prices weren't astronomical. I don't resell, just collect. The UCS Bwing is just too critical of a ship to not have in the collection... Now if only I could find a UCS imperial shuttle!
  22. Either way, they are probably going to announce very very soon. They won't want to wait until mid to late May (too close to release) and they won't want to compete with May the 4th promotions... So I feel like the announcement has to happen this next week.
  23. Not sure if anyone saw this, but brickfanatics is saying that select sets will be 40% off each day of the May the 4th promotion period... http://www.brickfanatics.co.uk/lego-star-wars-may-the-fourth-promotions-announced/ I don't think I saw that previously on the Shop@Home May Calendar... but I may be wrong! It probably will be the slow-selling sets, but maybe there will be a good one scattered in there.
  24. I would agree. Looks printed to me. There appears to be a stripe around the base of the piece that overlaps the stud cavities... I'm doubting they'd even consider a decal for that. Is it just me or is it missing a rounded piece on the bottom to give it that "bell" look of the real thing...
