LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
thorin replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Fins look okay... they don’t look bad, but I agree with some of the other comments that it still is just a snowspeeder with tan bricks... ”the speeders are having trouble adapting to the sand” ? -
Does anyone know when people who purchased the MF will start getting their black mf vip Cards?

Ah!!! I hope this means a free Last Jedi movie poster will be coming out alongside the film! -

The SSD was the whole reason I got back into Lego, but by the time I saved up to get it, it was gone. I’d love to have another shot at it, but I’m not sure how many others feel the same way. The first SSD was not all that long ago... -

I’d go for the U wing or Tie Fighter... just because they are the most likely to go retired this next year. They’re both great sets too. The snowspeeder and resistance bomber are also great sets, but they are likely to be around for 12 months or more... -

I thought that I caught a glimpse of Dagobah (or a similar looking planet) in the trailer... -
Yes!!! It could be an add-on to the back of the bunker set from earlier this year... I'd pay $150 for a set like this. I imagine something slightly smaller than the Tower of Orthanc.

It's a crappy way to run a business. It gets harder to defend brand loyalty when they jerk you around. I saw this happen last year with the Nintendo nes classic and literally swore off Nintendo after it happened. I had one of those but I actually gave it away at Christmas to my brother in law. I'll never buy Nintendo brand products again. I have to believe that Lego honestly underanticipated the set. If they really did sell over 10,000 units... that's a lot of MF to have on release day. If they pull a "Nintendo" and "cancel" the MFs production while it is still sold out... then I'll re-evaluate my stance. For now... give them time and breathe. I'm sure they'll be in stock again. Maybe not in the next few weeks (I'm sure it takes time to produce them)... but sometime soon.

As an update. I called Lego and told them. He checked my orders and agreed I should have received two different posters. He said they would mail me the one I was missing... -
$5.2 million in revenue in 1 hour... That's incredible.

Wow. The falcon showed up on my front step this morning at 9am local time... that's a 25 hour turn around. Points for TLG!!! Happy Weekend! Falcon came with two thick outer cardboard boxes... no dents or damage this time!
-
Lego said that the cards were going to be given to anyone who bought a falcon between September 14th and December 31st of this year... so even if they printed up 20,000 initially, I wouldn't be surprised if they just made more as they need.

I did. Sat on hold for 45 minutes and finally talked to a lady who told me that their whole system was down and that they couldn't see anything or look at anyone's accounts. I asked if she could make a note, or if they would cancel just one, both, etc... all she said was that she had "no idea".... :-(

Hey guys - question. The website was glitchy and I spent 2 hours trying to buy the set. I only wanted one and didn't think any transactions went through... Now I'm looking at my "order status" and it says that I have 2 transactions with different numbers ran through this morning. Prior to it going up for sale it said "limit 2" and now it says "limit 1"... so is my second order a glitch? will they automatically cancel it? And can someone confirm that they will only cancel the "extra" order and not both!!! ... ugh... I'm a true fan that isn't trying to scalp, so hopefully they don't cancel both.
-
Yeah... still nothing.

It seems that the US is set to the same time as the UK tho! :-) Still no Falcon!

Love each of these suggestions, especially the imperial cargo shuttle. I could totally see Lego doing this set with those exact characters. I do agree that we need a Galen Erso, but he doesn't really fit well in any scenes. Yes please! This could be a really cool set. Rocky "hideaway" exterior that looks like the side of a cliff or pile of rocks. It could have prison cells, interogation room, saw's main chamber, etc. Jyn, Saw, Bohdi, Cassian, and two of Saw's men... It would probably have to be a $150+ set to do well though.

There was an internal marketing snippet that I saw months ago which seemed to indicate a 14 month production period. That would be a little short... but not relative to the set type. It seems like a reasonably long window considering that not every collector will want to buy (or can buy) this set. I would guess that by late 2018/early 2019 they will have sold a vast majority of what they could sell it for if they left it on the shelves for longer... makov is right in that the shelf space is too valuable for a 3-5 year production run. Having said all that, it seems that TLG will make this available to everyone who wants to buy one in the next year + ... I just don't know that for sure.

Stash - are you hinting that this will be an underproduced set with limited quantities?

I know. I staggered my purchases and even waited and got one that was back ordered in order to get the posters... the back ordered one hasn't arrived, but the purchase it was paired with did arrive with the wrong poster... maybe it was a freebie and the other one is in the other one..? US. And I've never had an issue before. I've bought LOTS of sets through shop at home and this is the first time I've had an issue. Hopefully it is an isolated one. -

Did anyone else's shipments arrive damaged? I'm just getting my Force Friday 2 purchases from shop at home and they all seem to be pretty banged up. Also, I bought Star Wars sets on separate days to get the different posters and yet every box arrived with the same poster in it... I've never had these issues with shop at home before... -

I own and have built both. Personally I like 75055 more. However, make sure you take a peek at 6211 as well. It is not only bigger than these two, but still surprisingly affordable. It has a less interesting exterior, but the playability is pretty good. -
The UCS BB8 is already on back-order at S@H in the US. I wasn't interested in it, but at the stores I went to on Force Friday, there were people grabbing them up. Both stores sold out.

I'm pretty sure (~90%) that the designer (Hans Burkhard) did all of the models that are displayed behind him in the video. 100% sure on Slave 1 and Krennic's shuttle... so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Ordered through S@H. Came up in the us as a pre-order. Excited for this one. I think even my wife is glad I bought this one!
