Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation
RedHoodPug replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I see elements of both, to be honest. The shoulder straps, cut of the jacket, and boot tops, possibly even the hair, are definitely Rebirth style. But the grey sleeves and highlights reflect JBs suit, and the face says John Barrowman more than it does juiced Vincent Price. -
Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation

@TheBrickBuilder14 definite shades of John Barrowman, but I can forgive that for a new character. -
That’s your assumption, though. Unless you know exactly how much the license was for Aston Martin and another one for Bond. As for the shape, it’s not that drastic. Going by the profile comparison you can see it’s the same shape. It’s not like the resulting model has six wheels or bears an uncanny resemblance to a Series 1 Landrover. It looks like a DB5, it’s just not identical. Aston Martin are so protective of their brand, they would not have signed off on something that they were not happy with representing their most famous product. The right people at Lego and Aston are happy with the final product, probably delighted. There it is. It’s Lego, which means that if you don’t like it or think you can improve it, then you have the chance to modify it. Or you you have the choice not to buy it.

3 Thor movies in and only two sets from one of them, but then one of them was Dark World. BvS didn’t give us Doomsday either. I’ve not got my hopes up at all, more surprised at the (potentially) missed opportunity for fantastic figures.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Going by the article the Harley is Margot Robbie inspired. That would be cruel if she is a throwaway character. I’m hoping that mech is something along the lines of Emmett’s from the first movie. -
That SDCC set has a much better sea creature and scenery ratio than the movie set, but I really like them both. Aquaman starting to claw back a reputation outside of the comics finally. Did anyone else watch the Shazam trailer and think that Lego would have to fork out for printed arms and printed or dual moulded legs?

This Aquaman movie looks like it could give Lego the ok to dig out the Atlantis figures. Some of the characters revealed really lend themselves to a minifigure. I do like the sub, even if they went with a generic shark to match the one in the poster. @retrotaco nice Raven. Looks good.

You will, when they deem it to be the right time. The fact that we have any information is a gift. You can’t do anything until the day it hits the shelves anyway.

@RNRS001 I’m not quoting that, it’s massive. Surely saying that effort is wasted is a reason not to buy? I’m not coming up with reasons why you should like it, I’m saying if you don’t then you’ve been spoilt by Lego’s past glories. That’s fine, not liking it and not buying it. That is how buying what you like generally works. But ripping it to shreds serves no purpose, especially as some people have no intention of buying it anyway. Lego as a company is aware of this site and will take comments into consideration. It’s market research. It isn’t as good in your opinion. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t that good. A lot of people will buy it and love it. A lot won’t, but they don’t have to slag off the set so much that it looks like Lego made a personal slight because the set doesn’t meet their expectations. Pretty much stated in my OP that I am not going to buy one because it’s not what I collect. I would understand why someone would, though. It’s Lego and why we are having this discussion.
-
There’s a difference in criticisms. Saying it misses the mark is one thing - going in most people were anticipating whether Lego could pull off the curves - such as yourself. Others completely tearing it apart are hampered by their own expectations. There are Creator Expert car collectors here who won’t buy because they don’t like how it looks. Surely part of collecting is the completion. If this proves to be a set that gains value in time then anyone who has a change of heart is going to have a bitter pill later on. I collect DC, and I get annoyed when a character comes along with subpar printing. I still get it, because ultimately Lego have made it and I don’t want to go down the customs road. You can criticise something and appreciate it at the same time. The ones here purely slating the set are only helping to an extent: Lego might only have one Bond set in mind, they might have more. They might think, “huh, the bunch of ingrates! We won’t bother with the rest of the line”. It’s scarcely twisted to consider an extreme reaction just that.

Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation

That seahorse/dragon is awesome. -
Makes perfect sense, to be honest. Not really an attack, more stating that no matter how much Lego up their game, some people will never be satisfied with the build because their own expectations are through the roof. Ergo spoilt. The fact that they made it is a great thing. If you can’t possibly consider the possibility that this is an impressive build, then you come across as ungrateful and/or spoilt. There was a time when we got what we were given, said thank you and moved on. Now everyone is a critic, nothing is good enough anymore. Lego don’t have to match the exceedingly high level of expectation, but they certainly try.

Does seem an odd set choice when you put it that way. On the one hand they could have done Orm (still might) with some big megablocks fish build and other undersea races, etc. On the other they have preemptively made a set for the sequel. -
I don’t care that it doesn’t look exactly like a DB5. I don’t like James Bond. But that built is dynamite and anyone who says it’s not good enough is, quite frankly, spoilt.

Certainly looks that way. Is that a new piece in red next to Spidey’s stud shooter, or have I missed something?- 3,962 replies

DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
The set details are out, citing a Black Manta sub, scenery, Manta, Mera, and Aquaman. No Ocean Master, but we can always hope he will turn up eventually. -

While I am 100% behind a Shazam figure - because that brings a Black Adam figure one step closer to me - his cape is similar in form to the CMF Highwayman’s, with the short cape over the top, so he would need an extra bit as well. Still rooting for a Batson/Shazam transformation set. -
The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion

Loving the Apocalypseburg vibe of the sets, and the worn look of Emmett. -
I concur with the OP predominantly because my DC collection will always be short of a growing number of figures, and characters that I like, too.
-
I like the suit but the beard-mask ratio is all off.

@rome00150 that’s the one. I don’t know how available it is, it was originally made as limited edition prints and they fetch good money.

The dino, coin, and Joker card are the mainstays of any good trophy room. There are some really good images from the comics, and something like a DK book will list a few other things. The Bill Finger poster, although Golden/Silver Age, is extensive in its contents. Villain masks and weapons are an easy way to make an impression. Kryptonite stashed somewhere. Oh, and Jason Todd’s costume in a glass case.

Fair dos. To be honest I’ve only seen it low resolution. I guess that gives another Sinestro Corps suit to provide variety.
