  1. BatmobileHistory.com its really good, and covers lots of obscure versions like merchandising, but it stops before 2017. To be honest it left me surprised at quite how many there have been.
  2. I wouldn’t worry about it going that far, there have been years when there’s been more than one Batmobile. I can think of about thirty without going to the books. If they did go through the back catalogue I’d rather it was in small scale, though. I reckon it’ll be screen versions, assuming it becomes an actual subtheme.
  3. You’ve gone from not popular to not the most popular, to Lego should keep selling Joker based sets because he’s clearly popular. Either this rollercoaster is broken, or you’re not convinced by your own argument. Either way this is the Marvel thread, full of peeps eagerly awaiting the release of the Bugle.
  4. I went to play it for my son, but being lacking in patience and social skills, he talked right over the top of Mario and we missed what he said. So my input here is that there was indeed an update, and Mario did say something. I just don’t know what it was.
  5. ‘66 would tie in with the just revealed set, but BR would follow the ’89 model. Aside from the breakdown into the shuttle rocket and the armour plating function, is there anything outwardly different from the ‘89? BvS would be pretty slick. I’m leaning towards the ‘66, primarily for the reason given above, the fact that it’s an anniversary year, but also because that’s my longstanding prediction and I’m sticking by it Forever not Returns! I don’t like that one, it’s such a gimpy look. Riddler and Two Face would be pretty bold though.
  6. Thank you both for the insight. It’s something that always interests me, how these markets work. I mainly deal with comic books, and a lot of that market right now is built on speculation, novices with lots of money and no interest in the content, and greed. This market appears to be driven by the value of the set, the perceived scarcity of the set, the popularity of the character, and whether it’s a variant or first appearance of the character. One can only assume that the initial perceived value is set by the first person who sells that particular minifigure, and the ball rolls. There’s the long standing statement that something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, but if they really want it but can’t afford it or won’t pay X, and the vendor won’t sell for less, then that theory falls apart. When I said harvest I worded that wrong, I meant I possibly want one of each torso, as there’s a couple of characters outside of Marvel that I would like to make, and current torsos don’t match what I want to do.
  7. Given that these figures will end up on the secondary market, it’s their first appearance in Lego, and it’s a big old set, how much are Punisher and Daredevil likely to be worth? I’ve never understood where the aftermarket value comes from, and I’m interested in harvesting those torsos.
  8. Technically the sky’s the limit so you could go nuts and make him supersized like in the DCSV game, but he would be huge and so costly. The same size as these builds but in big fig style would be interesting. Trigon at this size but with the fawn/Gremlin legs would be of interest. It’s shame that there aren’t enough various flesh coloured parts to MOC a Giganta, even Atom Smasher would need plenty for the arms. But yeah, it’s about time Doris got her some Lego loving.
  9. Those Harry Potter maxi figs makes me think of Atom Smasher, Giganta, Trigon, and the Anti-Monitor. I suppose you could include Spectre in that as well, given his spiritual form.
  10. I like the new wave, a good mix of the old and new styles and some new features. I really like the idea of the built figures, and might have to get them to use as template for other, non HP characters.
  11. It’s rather difficult to quantify such a demand, to be honest. My 3 year old daughter likes to pit Joker and Harley against Batman and Batgirl, because she knows that heroes have to stop the villains and she’s all about girl power. Without measure, it would be folly for Lego to crowbar him needlessly into sets if kids didn’t like him. Same with every other toy company that has a DC license. The world is a big place, just because you don’t experience something does not mean that it doesn’t exist.
  12. That would be ultimate trolling on Lego’s part. “What do you want?” ”Daredevil! We’ve been begging you for him forever!” ”Here he comes... “ I just went onto the site you got yours from and it’s the exact same photo! Not just the same figure, but the same photo. What a doughnut.
  13. It was established a while back that Lego would only be making humans with standard heads, something started with the Disney CMF. While Yosemite Sam could be done this way, Elmer would require a new mould. It works with Marvin on account of him not being human, but to have a mix of both would be a strange inconsistency. While it’s a bind to miss them, I can see the dilemma.
  14. You’ll find us in the DC thread.
  15. Very nice! I hope to do something similar at some point. Food for thought. Good use of colour, and a good scale.
  16. No worries. You’re on point about the satire though. The whole thing is a satire of different characters, but we’ve morphed into a world where you’re not allowed to take the mick out of deserving subjects because you might be perpetuating the bad part of the stereotype
  17. Not seen Shazam yet, that’s next. I quite liked it, for an Aquaman film I’m not sure what people were expecting but there was a lot of good water effects, a lot of mental sea creatures, Orm being a tool with a cause, the birth of Black Manta done in a pretty decent way that gives scope for a return. It’s not without its faults, but I’ve seen worse. A big, solid tank, not the weird folding battering ram thing from a few years back.
  18. We finally got round to watching Aquaman because it’s free on Amazon Prime and I’m a tightwad, and we got so far through thinking that our young son would enjoy it, right up to the desert scene when Aquaman drops 3/4 s**ts. Now about that Bat tank...
  19. An element of collectability, a sense of nostalgia, a reward for fan loyalty. I feel that they add nothing to you, but they do to others. You not liking something doesn’t make it irrelevant. It could be argued that by having a Harry Potter theme at all, Lego are cashing in.
  20. If there’s a second series then I would suspect that they would go more for variants than new. Granted there are plenty of missing characters, but with some of the omissions being on a hit list they would have to reconsider. As cowboys have been in the CMF before, I can see Sam being made, and with a standard head. A holster belt mould would be a good addition. Duck Dodgers would be an obvious one, as much as the Loontern is on my list. Porky as Space Cadet is the only alternative I can think of for him. Granny with a standard head would work. Bugs in a dress would be a good callback, but I reckon that would be a bit of a hot potato. Elmer would really require a head mould and a hat mould, as would Hazel. Foghorn is a possibility. Gossamer would need a pretty big mould, and as has been seen from this series the moulds have come at the expense of everything else. Additional characters and any other alternates would be a stretch, so I’m not sure another series would happen.
  21. Like when we were told that the 4+ set was 1966 based, or the guesswork surrounding the D2C. I’ve never second guessed the legitimacy of the D2C, in fact a few pages back you’ll see that I said that I went all in on it being the ’66 Batmobile, something I still stand by. If the last twelve months have taught me anything, it’s not to be surprised by anything Lego is prepared to do.
  22. Given the misinformation that has been circulating this year with various themes, I’m not entirely convinced. Anyway if it proves a popular and successful film then there is hope.
  23. We don’t, but we could use the cartoon as a good example of no means no, that women are actually worthy of respect not sleaze. Pepe is unaware of his stink, but he’s also unaware of the continued rejection he receives. We learn from that, not emulate it.
  24. We got Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Croc, and Katana in n tie-in sets. There is a teeny bit of hope. Is that right? I’ve not seen that. Bummer if it is.
  25. Really? Petunia was in very few animations and did pretty much nothing for the best part of thirty years because she was a secondary character to Porky, and his popularity waned in the Forties. And even then she didn’t become a recurring character until another thirty years had passed. She’s had more attention in the last twenty years than in the previous sixty, by a significant margin. I don’t think you’d have to look too far to find people who could recognise Daisy before Petunia.
