  1. My bad. I prefer that one but it’s memory is blighted by the later version.
  2. I have the first one. It’s weird. For a tracked vehicle with a folding battering ram, it’s too light. Marginally better than Killer Croc’s Killer Dentures that accompany it. *sigh* I remember when Lego used to throw money at DC but didn’t focus on the builds.
  3. I’m going to go with humour
  4. It did say character, but even that was pretty suggestive. Essentially they’ve removed it because it’s either false or a spoiler. Only time will tell now.
  5. I emailed Promobricks to ask if that list was set in stone or if there was any likelihood of change, but they didn’t reply. Either they’re ignoring me or haven’t seen it.
  6. It’s still on, but the Overwatch set is on the bench until the game’s developers sort themselves out, and the Horizon set has been announced. I don’t think there’s any grounds for it to be a full on wave, more one-offs as and when.
  7. they’re terrible! Having the comparative image just makes it worse. It reminds me of the nailed it meme. Forever Clever. They need a talking to from Trade Descriptions.
  8. Yeah that’s still coming LEGO DC Character Encyclopedia New Edition: With Exclusive LEGO DC Minifigure https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0241538033/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_1VVB0RPGHM1D4D4E2B7H
  9. Jonah Hex is an obscure character to most people, the director was better suited to family animated films and the lead actor disowned it. Green Lantern, while more known than Hex is still not a household name. The director was making progressively worse films on his way to GL, and the lead actor memorably killed himself off in another film because of it. Batman is the character keeping DC afloat, and not just in Lego. The director has gone from strength to strength, and the lead actor is proud of his role. A better comparison for The Batman would be Man of Steel, by Zack Snyder.
  10. Rather than blaming a man who made the films that he was asked to make - let’s face it, Warner knew what sort of visionary they were hiring through 300 and Watchmen - and who’s daughter’s death led to his departure from and Joss Whedon’s subsequent destruction of JL, your ire would be better suited aimed at Warner for their consistent mismanagement of DC property and the lack of coherent creative control. They are the ones who overreacted to the explosion of the MCU and fast tracked the big team up. This is the company that totally screwed the pooch with Jonah Hex and bodged Green Lantern way before Snyder turned up for work.
  11. Illogical? Very amusing. You didn’t posit it as a logical conclusion though, did you? You stated that she’s in it but in a limited capacity. Whether you like it or not that scans like you know this for a fact, which at this stage can only be through first hand or leaked information. If you had caveated what you said with context and your reasoning, the response would likely have been different. You’ve been asked to stop with the leak chatter myriad times yet persist, talk about illogical.
  12. The exact size of Tina’s role is not in the latest trailer. There’s nothing confirmed anywhere about the scale of her role, only speculation and presumably leaks. The mods have been emphatic on the subject of what is and what isn’t appropriate information to share, so the frustration - or lack of civility as you call it - is understandable.
  13. I saw it in the cinema, and while it was a 3-D spectacle it was also another glaring example of the white saviour trope that has been done to death. For example see The Last Samurai and Dances with Wolves, films I chose because they’re basically the same story in different settings. This will be joining the long line of sets which for various reasons I won’t be buying. As you say, you do you.
  14. That thing looks like someone drew the Samurai Jack villain Aku from an old, fuzzy memory. This curmudgeonly DC fan is not envious of this one.
  15. For fear of drifting too far off course I’ll be briefish. As someone who grew up with it, the whole idea to me was that it was very boy’s own, Saturday matinee, pulp adventure. By mostly being set in the 1930s it was kept warm and snuggly in the last age of adventure, before the Second World War and the pulling down of the veil of global mystery. Some of the older Lego themes were inspired by Indy, and we’re really popular. As soon as we knew that the next one was set in the 1950s it was bittersweet, because the design and architecture of the period were still iconic enough and a South American setting was new and still exotic. However when you get to the Fifties you get to the new postwar go to for pulp fiction, sci-fi. Indy is not sci-fi, especially aliens.
  16. It’s an odd one, because as you say externally it’s a brick tower with no windows or doors. Internally however it’s incredibly intricate. Creating an interior that works to minifigure scale and doesn’t just look dull when turned around or closed would be a real challenge, I think. Incidentally at this point it’s not a Tower of Fate I’m after, it’s any DC minifigure scale set that isn’t Batcentric.
  17. Spot on, thank you. I recognised it but couldn’t find it in modified bricks, now I know why.
  18. Great. Less than three weeks after the rumour got popped and now this. Way to kick us when we’re down, Lego. Do we need a disclaimer at the start of the thread to explain that any rumours are about a set’s existence? Perhaps it’s time to start filling in the gaps in the collection, see if I can finish before Lego release another non-Bat figure.
  19. There’s a piece that’s bugging me in the Atrociraptor set. The little trike skull or whatever it is build in the crate, left hand side of the box pic. What’s the head piece? Is it new?
  20. I’d say it’s more a violence thing rather than what version they depict, but conversely I’d say Peacemaker’s language would be a bigger barrier, unfortunately.
  21. I’d say that the inclusion of the Attack mode screens was a pretty significant update. The minifigure scale 1966 car was on back order for ages in loads of places, so I don’t necessarily believe it’s telling. They don’t know what to do with the DC line, that’s obvious.
  22. Here’s hoping those prices include something DC, otherwise the state of play seems to be along these lines: DC fans - a non Batman set would be cool. Pretty much anything. Lego response - we’ve made Thor’s hammer. Star Wars fans - we want Mando’s star fighter. Lego response - ok, we’ve included a new droid mould as a sweetener, and another new character.
  23. If true this would be a proper blast of nostalgia for me, as I had the Powermaster toy as a kid and it was one of my favourites for ages. I take it that the basis will be the Freightliner COE.
  24. The Helmet of Nabu holds the esteemed position of most magical artefact in the DCU, so without getting too nerdy about it I don’t think he needs to worry about eye holes WW84 got an absolutely gorgeous set, but it’s performance and questionable plotting may not have helped the cause. I was more suggesting that in the past we were lucky enough to not be in this position. As Exhibit A I shall bring out Gorilla Grodd, with Lightning Lad as Exhibit B. Now we’re staring down the likelihood of Adam, Fate, et al never coming to fruition.
  25. The silly thing is that were Black Adam and the others released 5-7 years ago, we would have had related sets hands down. It’s got to be a pretty big elephant in the room that the only sets coming out now are variations on a theme. It’s frustrating.
