Yeah, I've seen a couple of C+ full RC mods on rebrickable but oh well, its only single motor and theres 1L extra space behind it, which means that the C+ motor (which is 1L loner) should fit in fine. Trouble is I don't want to start building big red until ive made the 42070 instructions first so that I can dismantle 42070. I could just use the 42070 C+ LDR file which is already competed, as the guide for the instructions.
-
72070 DONE, access to the hub button is done thru the gap in the seats Here is the LDRAW model, since @Philo did most of it, I'll leave his name as the author as per the CCBY2 licence code PU app Controls are here, I still need to program it. It uses one C+ XL motor, one PU M motor, And one C+ smart hub You can use a PU remote, or a smart device to control it Not sure how the instructions will be made, perhaps someone else can help with that as it sounds too tedious for me. For my next set conversion I chose one of the smaller technic sets, So therefore I chose Big Red 🙂

42170 Kawasaki Ninja H2R
SNIPE replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I wanted to buy it because I thought it had more than 2 speeds and used the new gearbox parts, then i noticed today that it uses the older gearbox parts and only has 2 speeds. So now, since I have a million projects on the go already, I doubt ill even MOD it and sure won't buy it, im not a motorbike aficionado anyhow. -

Reduculous, no new gearbox parts. I now have 1 minus 1 reasons to buy this set. I don't even think its worth my time building it from parts I own (which I could do). -
So, since the designer video confirmed that they are jet engines and not rockets, I can't see a way for all 4 of them to spin up in sync unfortunatley. So thats one thing I gotta do to MOD it, which means moving the axle for the VTOL outside of the mini turntables (unless I use a clever trick by putting a small linear actuator thru the mini turntable, giving 2 degrees of rotatonal freedom, but this is tricky and cumbersome to implement so Ill probably just drive the turntable via gears from an external axle much like on the bell ospray. (RIP) Also kinda wished the rear engines could VTOL too but oh well. edit: yes, I know that jet engines don't work in outer space, now idk what to say... Maybe its meant for "inner space" where a jet engine would work, since its now as far away as outer space but is technically classed as space..however im fairly sure these nasa space vehicles were designed for mars , which DEFINITELY qualifies as outer space. Maybe the designer said jet instead of rocket..

Ah, I see what you did, nice solution. I also tried the bottom solution before but no luck, and i don't think I thought to use those axle pins. Thx. Yes under "high" high load it won't be very reliable I guess- 5,465 replies

I doub't it breaks, I very rarley break parts, sometimes the ends on thin liftarms get cracked but other than that, nothing. The idea is simply to have a selector clutch that allows an axle to pass all the way thru, rathern than having an axle joiner which does not. The weird spacing thing is a different story, thats to besically have 2 independant axles inside of the clutch ring that can still slide to engage the gears. (sounds useless, but people have no imagination until in like 10 years where theyll want it all of a sudden)- 5,465 replies

Yes, it doesnt mesh all the way, but it still meshes. I don't get why people are so afraid to try stuff like this, thats what LEGO is all about and even LEGO do it themselves in official sets I'll try and find a better way soon but it might involve using retired/legacy parts!.- 5,465 replies

Took a break from building the Orient express and decided to start with 42070 chassis, I tried converting 8275 first but that one will be much harder. This chassis is almost done, will upload the digital file soon, not sure how I will make instructions. I used a C+ M motor (white) and a C+ XL motor. The only major change was that the steering rack is now in front of the wheels rather than behind. you'll need aound 10 common parts extra like axles and axle jointers. I'll use a C+ dumb batttery box in place of the PF battery box. I could upload the entire converted ldr model but it is based on @Philo's model, so idk if i'm allowed to share it or not. I'll leave the file author as philo since he did the hard work of making the model (I don't have anywhere near that much parience!) so as long as its OK with philo, Ill share the LDR file. Update 8/1/2024 Model amost finished, all functions working fine, This model can be driven via a phone running a suitable app, or via a powered up remote. The code for the powered up app I will need to make and then upload.

you use 2 bushes but with the notched sides (where they can connect between a 2x2 array of studs) facing each other and towards the middle. now you have a thru axle hole but the clutch ring can still slide along and mesh with gears on either side.- 5,465 replies

42154 Ford GT MODs and improvements
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah I hated how the doors were done in the original set so a mod for that would be good. -
Hey all, Since we have a thread already regarding the unofficial conversions of C+ sets to PF, I thought I would create the opposite, - a thread to convert PF to the newer C+. The reason for doing this is because while PF will always have a big place in my heart, most of my PF components have seen better days, so I thought it woudl be useful for "modernize" the old sets such as 42043, 42042,42054, 52055, 42082, etc etc, and there's a lpt to do but thats OK. I will start by listing the PF sets from 2007 all the way to 2019 but first a little bit of executive info: The goal is to keep the sets as simular to the original as possible, incorperating these conversions into a MOD is probably best left for the sets dedicated "MODs thread". The use of WeDo, NXT, EV3, BOOST, Powered Up Spike Prime, Robot Inventor is OK as long as it has demonstrated exaustion , where there is no possible analogue to a given PF component. There must be a balance between keeping the set as original as possible, but where needed, certain PF parts will need to have "creative" solutions to get the same behaviour, and I think those should be mechanism oriented rather than software oriented as long as it does not change the set too much, but software based solutions can be used in more extreme circumstances. This thread is only for Technic sets that contain power functions, no other themes. This thread also covers technic sets with optional motorization. This thread also coveres B models that had official motorization Some examples of such parts may be IR recievers and remotes, the PF switch, the PF battery boxes where the switch is conneceted to technic beams to create an external on/off switch, etc. Now onto the set list: 8292 A model 8292 B model 8294 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 8295 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 8297 A model 8297 B model 8258 A model 8258 B model 8264 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 8264 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') B model 8265 A model 8264 A model 8043 A model 8043 B model 8049 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 8052 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 8052 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') B model 8053 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 8070 A model 8109 A model 8110 A model 8110 B model 9395 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 9396 A model 9397 A model 9397 B model 9398 A model 9398 B model 41999 A model 42000 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42006 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42008 A model 42008 B model 42009 A model 42009 B model 42024 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42025 A model 42025 B model 42029 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42030 A model 42030 B model 42038 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42039 (with '8293- PF addon kit') A model 42042 A model 42042 B model 42043 A model 42043 B model 42050 A model 42052 A model 42052 B model 42053 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42054 A model 42054 B model 42055 A model 42055 B model 42065 A model 42065 B model 42066 A model 42066 B model 42068 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42070 A model 42070 B model 42080 (with '8293 - PF addon kit') A model 42080 (with '8293- PF addon kit') B model 42082 A model 42082 B model 42095 A model 42095 B model Links to the replies which contain a digital model can be accessed by clicking 'A model' or 'B model' Replies can also just be to discuss stuff related to this threads topic. I'll start working on some of the models soon, when the LDRAW OMR is back online. I also need testers to build some of the real converted models to make sure they work.

I just discovered that if you put two 1L bushes inside of the yamaha gear selector clutch, you can use any axles now, where as if you used an axle joiner you can't always do that. For example lets say if I wanted x.5L on one side and just y on the other side Where x and y are whole numbers. But that doesnt always mean using a 5.5L axle, you could put 1.5L of a normal axle inside of the two bushes (which equals 2L) and then just 0.5L of the other axle in the other side. But even cooler that that is you can have two indepentant axles insisde of one clutch ring where as before they had to be meshed. You can still selecet the gears in the same way as before but only one axle is meshed with the clutch ring. only trouble is that the way I figured out to do it has a little friction when rotating indepentantly. Perhaps someone will figure out another way in future, but on the other hand maybe it acting like a linear clutch is more useful anyhow. LDR file- 5,465 replies

I don't see a new worm gear element, but I hope its a new helical gear indeed. I'm not happy that you cant adjust the 6x6 rovers elongation using a gear knob on the side of the model, but rather you have to take the yellow pieces off and push the model closed, then lock it off again with the yellow parts. WHY can't we just make it whatever we want, which is good for off roading too!!. But at least it has suspention on all 3 axles which is a first for LEGO (without springs I mean). There is usually at least 1 solid axle and that always bugs me, for example the john deere tractor, of 42114, or 42070. I will add shock absorbers, differentials and steering on every axle and will add a HOG dial to adjust the elongation PROPERLY :) I like how the aircraft has the handle where you can operate all 3 functions with one hand, but I thought those gears inside were part of some sort of complex mechanism, and were not simple HOG dials - oh well. I wish the engines could be spun up too, where they are synchronized on both sides. even without motorization
