MOC: square gears
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Glad you like it, here is LDD file so that you know of the parts you will have to experiment slotting the gears onto the axles a bit to get the correct meshpoints so i would try each gear, but keeping one in the same position and meshing the other one tooth by tooth until that gear is in the rotational position in which the gears will not un-mesh or jam, I think the rotation of the gears in the image is about right). http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/finneykris/ge/go_cart_2_and_square_gears.lxf Please ignore the other thing beside that, it is a separate project. -
MOC: square gears
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sure, i am insane, we all are. -
hi, I was watching some YouTube videos and learned a bit about odd shapes and how they can still mesh fine when rotating this goes for things like gears, pulleys, etc and so i came up with the idea to make some square spur gears with LEGO: they should work fine because they are meshing in the picture although at some points of rotation the teeth may not completely go in to each other when they mesh but that's just because of how the corners are in the model in lego digital designer.

wheel rims (small)
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh my bad, I have another idea, it is to take the plastic rims out and use the tires with an old technic 1/1 bush (not 1/2 size). Here is the rim and tire assembly: I hope they are not too curved on one of the top edges however. because that's bad for grip. -
identical tires in LDD?

Ah, thanks for the tip! :) -
identical tires in LDD?
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Are you sure? i don't think LEGO would miss out such a detail, the tires you posted had rings on the sides of them and are slightly ballooned on the top where as the tires i highlighted in the image are flat on top and have flat sides. -
wheel rims (small)

DLuders, You can only order the parts from bricklink in bulk quantities ,so I don't need to have like 40 odd of the old style technic bushes. I am only using them as wheel rims for my go cart project so I would only need a small amount of them (2 wound be enough but maybe I would order a few more as spares). -
identical tires in LDD?

Here is the parts panel in Lego Digital Designer, the two wheel types are placed in the workspace as-well beside each other. -
identical tires in LDD?
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
ok, in the brick panel of lego digital desighner there is two tires that look identical, they are this in real life. what is the difference between the two identical looking tired in lego digital designer and is there two real bricks that are that of what it says in lego digital designer. -
wheel rims (small)
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
it fits the new bush fine but what about the old one, i want tw tires on the old wider one -
hi, do you think that these tires will fit on these bushes in the grooves or will they be off and not in the groove. i need two tires to fit on this bush as it is a replacment for using two modern technoc 1/2 bushes. here is the old bush and here is the new bush (the 1/2 size) or here is the tire now that i would still have to use another 1/2 bush with that for the 3rd tire since there is three tires in a row. also note that i chose the old bush because of the overhanging part that is on one side, it should therefore stop the tire from rubbing on the chassis.

hi, i just finished making a robot, it was originally meant to just crawl along on the three motors and there was no detectible wheel when i got into it a bit more i made it stronger and added weapons/sensors and armor i started building this robot at around 2:45PM the features are: when the robot is in the standing up position: can move forward or backwards , can transform into the other position by using the motors the robot is controlled by RF wireless communication (IR or BT) the colour sensor is supposed to be a missile tracker, the touch sensor is meant to be a altomiter and a plasma ray (the if the wheel is attached then that is meant to split the beam into 8 weaker beams. the ultrasonic sensor is a radar and keeps track of the other enemy and of the earth around it., the two yellow balls in the storage bricks are means to be remote controlled explosives (C4). the motor that has the grey striped blade can also be used as a ram, or since it pivots, a shield for missiles and other things. when in the low down position: all weapons/sensors are still functional like in the upright model. it can move using the wheel or just the motors/legs i am trying to add each of these links to an album where each actual photo is on one page, then i can post the link of that page here. i did not put each image on here because that takes up even more space. (dont know if thats what pepole would want). http://img204.images...10802at2304.jpg http://img18.imagesh...0802at23042.jpg http://img36.imagesh...0802at23043.jpg http://img685.images...10802at2305.jpg http://img585.images...10802at2306.jpg http://img840.images...0802at23062.jpg http://img43.imagesh...0802at23063.jpg http://img97.imagesh...10802at2307.jpg http://img508.images...10802at2308.jpg http://img231.images...10802at2309.jpg http://img10.imagesh...0802at23092.jpg http://img4.imagesha...0802at23093.jpg http://img9.imagesha...0802at23094.jpg http://img153.images...0802at23095.jpg http://img535.images...10802at2310.jpg http://img9.imagesha...0802at23102.jpg http://img829.images...0802at23103.jpg http://img17.imagesh...10802at2311.jpg http://img854.images...10802at2313.jpg http://img811.images...0802at23132.jpg http://img268.images...0802at23133.jpg http://img855.images...10802at2314.jpg http://img35.imagesh...0802at23142.jpg http://img814.images...10802at2315.jpg http://img692.images...10802at2316.jpg http://img88.imagesh...0802at23162.jpg http://img844.images...10802at2317.jpg http://img853.images...10802at2318.jpg http://img824.images...0802at23182.jpg http://img818.images...10802at2319.jpg http://img844.images...10802at2320.jpg http://img694.images...10802at2321.jpg http://img10.imagesh...10802at2323.jpg http://img718.images...0802at23232.jpg http://img143.images...0802at23233.jpg http://img42.imagesh...0802at23234.jpg http://img26.imagesh...0802at23235.jpg http://img810.images...10802at2324.jpg http://img847.images...0802at23242.jpg http://img84.imagesh...0802at23243.jpg http://img40.imagesh...10802at2325.jpg http://img853.images...0802at23252.jpg http://img12.imagesh...0802at23253.jpg http://img5.imagesha...0802at23254.jpg http://img687.images...0802at23255.jpg http://img193.images...10802at2326.jpg http://img231.images...0802at23262.jpg http://img688.images...0802at23263.jpg http://img718.images...0802at23264.jpg http://img98.imagesh...10802at2327.jpg http://img713.images...0802at23272.jpg http://img691.images...0802at23273.jpg http://img64.imagesh...0802at23274.jpg http://img828.images...10802at2328.jpg http://img717.images...0802at23282.jpg http://img842.images...0802at23283.jpg

gah, i have had to put that on hold because: it has issues still, the thing needs more gears and now it is kind of getting pointless because the gearbox in the 8448 is just as good for its size but isn't as well equipped. because the technic challenge finishes on either the 21st of 23rd of august, the car will take around a year to make if i focus on it and not put it aside for a week or something. maybe was being too realistic for LEGO. anyhow, my entry for the challenge is 'fastest 4 wheeled vehicle.
-
yes, i started this model on July 31 and i have nothing built yet so id better get a move on , i had the rear wheels almost done but then i had another idea on an assembly of some rear wheels , i have to order the parts for that, i have to order the motor as-well and that's about it . i will probably be working day and night like the good old days
-
hi, are you allowed to send more than one photo of your creation, and can you print the technic challenge logo on paper and put it in the same photograph of your creation do you have to have the logo in every photo is the deadline the 23rd or august or the 21st of august is it ok to use some lego system parts as long as thr model is mainly technic

are you sure, the outer and inner diamiter of the top of the rounded brick is only worth the height of a flat plate or 0.1L of an axle (tha'ts half of a 1L axle or quarter of the 2L axle that is attached to the rod as part of the metal axle assembly im not too bothered about the rim coming off the axle for now just as long as it enables the wheel to spin with the axle. oh i have just ran into another blimmin' problem the metal axle has a stupid end cap so i wont be able to put an axle to axle connector to the end of it. it looks like i will have to be using the second assembly after all

Fixing old cybermaster unit
SNIPE replied to Wytse Talsma's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
if you were wanting to fix the one that is not working id suggest going into the Electro Tech Online chat-room and asking somebody, adding a post in the forum and they should be able to help with that. (back on topic) yes it is easier to buy a new unit but f you fix one you save money and you learn something. maybe it is not worth the hassle. it might not be the tower that's the problem or the brick so id make sure you know which one is faulty before buying a replacement. -
can you post an image of the 1x1 round plate thanks i could also use a 4L axlle with stop or a threaded 4L axle and have nuts on either side of the rim

ah. well i tried another type of tire on a bush like that before and it worked fine but the tire was not what i was looking for but now i just took a look in LEGO digital designer and i put three bushes together and three tires on each bush, it was good because it was wider than the default tire and still a slick tire: the default tires are attached to the assembly. i will have to text both the default and the new assembly out in real life.
