Officially not a toy anymore
koalayummies replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
"But we bought it at the toy store" "Yes, but the way I'm using it makes it an adult thing." "The box for this one said ages 8 to 14" "That's a suggestion. They have to put that on there." Wouldn't a therapist be a better choice than repetitively posting on an internet forum how :insert company: needs to bring back a childhood comfort blankey? Right now is the golden age of Lego. Look at the colors and pieces we have now. All those old sets were like building a Piet Mondrian composition. -

LOL to all this. My only question not yet answered is: are they going to check ID? I want to feel young again. -
Officially not a toy anymore
koalayummies replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed. And its doubtful that "18+" means what some are thinking it means. It's not an ESRB or MPA rating. For those hoping to see war/sex/substance abuse and other mature themes; don't hold breath. -
Fantastic build. Its very visually pleasing. I especially like the build style for the people, very unique. Most excellent work!

Seeking advice for building structure of MOC
koalayummies replied to jedisquidward's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes that is a bit of a problem. If you have patience you could use the hide-bricks and check-connections in the LDD program (hiding everything connected to show what might be floating/unconnected), but I think it would be easier with actual bricks in-hand and the ability to more easily see inside by carefully removing connected sections of pieces. The nature of LDD building makes this type of covered/hidden connections difficult along with the inability to really feel the strength of a build in your hands. However it can be done by careful scrutiny of the build/overlapping pieces/checking connected pieces. Its just a bit more tedious doing it digitally. -
Need opinions about design of window labels for a house
koalayummies replied to SearchFunction's topic in LEGO Town
When I'm unsure I always make an effort to test out the concept. If it's not to expectations you can always revert back. Try it out and see. There are stickered windows in plenty of official sets which diversifies the somewhat limited window size/frame options (thus dictating what can be built). I think trying it on all will help you decide and give your build a unique aesthetic. -

How to store pieces with clips (and the like)?
koalayummies replied to Teeka's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I store them loose and also frequently connect them things to them other than the corresponding/opposite hinge plate so there's no point to keeping them stored and connected together. Don't think its a concern for wear unless you're connecting and disconnecting them each thousands of times a day. Don't think they have much pressure when connected, its the momentary pressure increase while connecting them and they should be good for many tens of thousands of connections/disconnections otherwise Lego wouldn't make them. Don't overthink this, its a plastic toy that's meant to be played with and built/disassembled many times. -
Why is microscale so underrated?
koalayummies replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That is a good point. It can be more difficult to build at the smaller scale managing the accompanying sacrifices in detail while still capturing the essence. -
Avast hearty scallywag! Pursued this coffer on the 11th and she still be backordered, but unlike some of these carousers I don't hang the jib. Will just pick me ocean spray boogers, sharpen me cutlass, have a clap of thunder in the crows nest or stare at the sun from poop to kill time. Argh I be under stay at home orders, anchored offshore and will not venture to a mall with scurvy dogs. Run a shot across the bow and hang em from the yardarms I say. They be flying the yellow jack soon.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
koalayummies replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting that just a few weeks ago there was sensible talk about how Lego should probably postpone the release of these due to the gropey nature of the customer-product interaction and not wanting to touch things that have been felt up by an unknown number of hands and now its all about touching them and feeling the desired figures. Anyway they're available on Shop @ Home but the order limit is 3. -

Toilet paper is meant for the butt, stop wasting this precious and hard to obtain commodity. -
Why is microscale so underrated?
koalayummies replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A large chunk of Lego fans are just minifigure-centric. If it isn't minifigure based then many don't have interest. I agree a lot of some of the greatest builds are mini/microscale or even larger than minifigure scale (scale modeling, special themes, figures, robotics) but you'll see they generate far fewer "likes", comments and general interest. Those are some excellent examples though. -
What are the characteristics of a Modular Building?
koalayummies replied to darkhorse00's topic in LEGO Town
A word about height: you will invariably get people telling you how to build Your Own Creation (MOC) their way. Despite the fact that the various modular buildings have different floor to ceiling heights you will still have people telling you to change it to their liking usually by making it taller. Just ignore those people and have fun building what you like. -
We have been contact tracing these for a few weeks. One person posted one of these on reddit and now all the top Lego posts are these things. It is spreading rapidly. In order to protect as many Lego builders as possible from Tensegrity-20 we are issuing tensegrity-distancing measures.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
koalayummies replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That seems like the smartest thing to do now, no feeling just go. However with many still believing its all just a 'fake news 5g harmless flu' conspiracy then there's a good chance that any opened box of these will have already been heavily groped by those not likely to be practicing hygiene and sanitation. Could also wait until they're available on shop at home and just order a bunch crossing [washed] fingers. -

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
koalayummies replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
They're unrelated services from which they can't shift employees back and forth. USA Shop@Home ships from Illinois (distribution warehouse), some members in Europe report that their S@H orders originate out of Belgium, while Pick A Brick comes from Stykow, Poland and B&P we know comes from Billund, Denmark. The shutdown of B&P is as others have noted most likely to adhere to social/physical distancing. B&P is all done by human beings. Official sets are largely packaged by machine. -
Can't wait to see what the creative regulars of NewElementary come up with for the green pipe piece.
