That's actually the best theory I've heard yet! Kingnono is Marco Bessa, confirmed.
-
So if Kingnono is wrong or lying, has any reputable source actually listed a Harry Potter D2C for this year? Did JediJacPenguin get the info from Kingnono or somewhere else?

Not so much a question as a public service announcement: apparently the LEGO factory in Mexico will be re-opening on June 1, which means that stock in several countries including the United States, should be replenished within a month or so (including the UCS Millennium Falcon). At least that's what LEGO employees are being told. -
Last year wasn't the Clock Tower design revised between when you gave the hints and when it was released? Personally, I believe Kingnono. My guess is that LEGO had a ready-made excuse to save some money and reuse old Yule Ball figures, thus scrapping/revising the original Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar at the last minute. Maybe we'll get that one next year.

I think there was a window of exclusivity that Barnes and Noble shared with LEGO Shop (except Expecto Patronum, which was Walmart), but it was all released on the same day, July 1. The year before, maybe Target got the sets a month early? I don't even remember. I think it's gross that big super-retailers have way too much influence over LEGO's release schedule in this country...but I will stop before I become too political. Long story short, @Guyon2002 you may be right that a store/stores will release the sets early. Nothing can beat the winter of 2017, when the Star Wars sets were supposed to be released three months later in the US, but then Toys R Us put them out a month early and LEGO said, "Why not?" and just started selling the sets, because they were already sitting in the warehouses.
-
Jedi Jac Penguin still seems to think that July 1 will be the release date in the United States and Canada, except for The Burrow, which is August 1 (though still a Target exclusive, so who knows?). This sounds legit to me, but then why would the official LEGO Shop website be trolling us by changing the release date to August?

I just don't know what to do about the AT-AT. $160 is pretty terrible, but still a better deal than trying to buy a used, less well-designed version on eBay. Ah, well...first I need to track down the 20th Anniversary Slave I, because it's on its way out the revolving door, and I waited too long on May the Fourth... I'm very curious about the retailer exclusive, which of course means it will be a massive disappointment! -
I agree with you, but I wonder how well sets like the "Hoth Medical Chamber" sold? Surely "Luke in a diaper" isn't the most exciting thing for children either? But maybe that set flopped as hard as Cloud City, I have no idea.

When do we get a Yavin Base playset? While I would like to see a Master Builder Series (or equivalent) at some point, here is a cheaper option that would be less of a financial risk for LEGO: $40 retailer exclusive--Rebel Base Command Center: Includes computer screens, war room area, and minifigures of Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, and General Draven
-
I ordered the UCS A-Wing on the first day of the May the Fourth promotion. It should be arriving with the Death Star Battle GWP either today or tomorrow! I also Bricklinked the hologram Leia and the training remote droid from Ben's Hut, along with the printed pieces from 75010, which wasn't released in the United States.

I've been wondering whether the mystery retailer exclusive could be a TIE Bomber for the 40th Anniversary of ESB. It was the anniversary label on the AT-AT box that gave me the idea. The part count seems borderline-low for a TIE Bomber, but the price is right on point. -

Thank you so much for sharing your take on this set! I'm still on the fence, but that doesn't mean I don't want it. I'll let you all know tomorrow morning! -

Aww, sweet, thank you! (unless, of course, I'm completely misunderstanding you and it's actually higher ). -

I personally think the price of $160 in the US is quite steep, and I'm sure the price is bad in other territories, too. But...I've grown immune to "Star Wars tax," and I'll definitely buy one if I can afford it! EDIT: I'm sure it will be listed as "Coming Soon" tomorrow...too bad it can't be a pre-order included in the May the Fourth promotion. That would have been a nice gesture from LEGO and Disney toward the fans. -
HOLY KENOBI, that's beautiful! The only thing that could possibly be improved is the shaping of the grille tiles around the front curves, but I certainly couldn't come up with a better solution. I love how you went all out and included a (very nice) moisture vaporator and a couple of scavenging Jawas, too. But why is 3PO's head lying out the ground?

Really quickly, I have 13 hours (or less if it sells out, which is probable) to decide whether I should buy the 20th Anniversary Slave I. It looks wonderful, but I've already bought so much LEGO this year. I have been very privileged with my job situation, but that could change On the other hand, double VIP points and more promotional goodies are tempting, plus that set is likely to retire this year, and this may be my last chance to get it. Does anyone have the set? Is it worth $120 USD? Thanks so much, folks! -

This might be my first-ever AT-AT. I like the plethora of printed pieces from the original 2003 edition, but this one appears to be structurally superior. I'm impressed! -

You may be correct. I wasn't trying to foment conspiracy theories, it's just what I thought. -

Same, this is the worst May the Fourth ever. Pathetic, but I suspect Disney is mandating the "no sales in certain territories." I bought the A-Wing because my birthday is on Sunday, and I had $10 VIP rewards. That plus the GWP and double VIP points makes it worth it to me...I think. I do truly like the A-Wing, and I can't foresee an Amazon sale for it, so I sprang for it. I suspect I'll really enjoy it, and I'm thankful to be able to expand my Rebel Fleet. Otherwise, I agree, if you don't want that set, this is an absolute joke of a promotion. The only good thing I can say is that the website didn't crash for me. -
Technically it said that pre-orders are only for some territories. So I guess we're getting laughed at a second time. Oh, well. At least the May the Fourth promotion was so disappointing that I didn't waste any money on Star Wars.
-
LEGO press releases have been known to be inaccurate from time to time. Still, I'm trying to keep an open mind toward their employees (and everyone else) since this is the year from hell. My guess: the sets will go on pre-order in Europe and not the United States, and it will happen just before the May the Fourth promotion starts at midnight. But who knows?
-
I think it's very possible, but there's no way of knowing at the moment. This Harry Potter theme is LEGO's best license in years, but the regional distribution is arbitrary at best, dysfunctional at worst. Granted, the economic and pandemic status of our country could also be affecting LEGO's decision, who knows? Not just you, and I'm almost 26. EDIT: I never particularly wanted that Skeleton Tower set, but the Dwarves Mine....that was a different story!
-
I've been wondering this, as well, actually. Jedi JAC Penguin says July 1 for the worldwide release of these sets, but they may update that in a few days, who knows? Also, I'm not entirely sure that we'll be able to pre-order the sets in the United States. Guess we'll find out in just under seven hours!! As for Target product listings, probably not until release day, unless they are taking pre-orders as well.... Welcome to Eurobricks! I think the only way we'd get that particular outfit is if we get a Horcrux cave set, which I'd say is medium-likely within the next year or two. Agreed, I love the Astronomy Tower, in some ways I even like it more than The Burrow!
