LEGO Star Wars Landspeeder Comparison (2017 vs 2014)
RogueTwo replied to QwikBricks's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think one's local price of this set determines whether it's worth an upgrade from 75052. 15 British pounds does seem really cheap, and the 2017 version is clearly superior (to my mind), but it's not superior enough to warrant a repurchase. I mean, the model has undergone very few cosmetic changes since the one in the Mos Eisley Cantina from 2003. They've just about perfected the design. For those who have yet to buy a Landspeeder, this is a great chance, but I still think that Obi-Wan figure looks lazy and awful (and the box art doesn't do it any favors). Thanks for the comparison! -
Yes, PLEASE, that could just be my favorite set in years! I've could harp on about a future Red Leader minifigure forever, but this would also be an awesome opportunity to throw in Mon Mothma, General Dodonna, Bail Organa, or any other elusive Rebel higher command. I just hope such a set wouldn't be unaffordable, say, as part of a hypothetical UCS Trench run or something Assault on Hoth-ish...

The U-Wing and Y-Wing Microfighters are indeed excellent! i just got them in the mail today and built them right away. Is there a reason why you don't want the TIE Striker Microfighter, or do you already have it/hoping to buy it later?

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh so hard. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but the Y-Wing price seems to be surprisingly good in most regions! And I'm sure Amazon.com and other places will eventually have a sale on it, but even at $60, it's a bargain based on standard LEGO pricing (Price/Piece, Minifigures, unique parts, size of build, etc.). It seems like a phenomenal set, and I really have no idea why they would price it so (relatively) low in the United States. Then again, I also have no idea why they used the exact same pilot as 75155...

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
RogueTwo replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes, I remember that. It's sketchy for sure (and disappointing for the creator of the Ideas set, although I think I read that they got a free copy of the official set--small comfort). We may never know the exact circumstances of that situation, however. At this point, a UCS Landspeeder seems highly unlikely for 2017, but now LEGO knows that there's a demand for it, just like the Sandcrawler and AT-AT that got rejected. And I think the official "UCS" Sandcrawler was released after the Ideas submission failed to pass review, but my memory could be failing me here. -
Amazon.com has some of them available for pre-order (either February 17 or March 1). Only three days ago the Microfighters and one of the Battle Packs were available. I couldn't believe my eyes, and I ordered them with Amazon Prime. The next day, the listings had switched to pre-orders. Anyway, the sets arrived today, and I am tremendously thankful and happy. That said, at least half the wave should be available this Friday, so all will be soon be well (personally, I really want 75172)! Well, I got lucky because the wait sort of ended five days early for me, but I thank you for the empathy all the same. To be fair, though, I understand that the United States has the lowest LEGO prices in general, which is also an unequal situation. I guess we have no control over these things for the most part. I'm gonna get that Y-Wing soon!

Breaking news for all FOLs in the United States...I just bought the Series 4 Microfighters and the new Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (75161-75164), which are all FINALLY available early from Amazon.com. It's not immediately obvious, though; the "scalper" third-party listings still pop up first. No sign of the Imperial Trooper Battle Pack, which is kind of weird. The only other listing (that I've found) is Battle on Scarif (75171), available for pre-order (March 1), but I didn't bother, because there's no release-date delivery. I guess I'll just have to wait patiently for the rest of the sets. I'm pretty stoked to build my Rebel army, though. :)

A bit off topic, but I didn't realize that Saw Guerrera had his own X-Wings. Are your referring to the ones crashed in Jedha City? Either way, we do need a new T-65. 9493 looks dated at this point. The cockpit is an easy fix (just use the one from Poe's X-Wing or the U-Wing), but the wing placement and engines are very wrong. I'm a terrible MOCer, but even I've tried to modify it, just because it looks so woebegone next to the newer Rebel ships.

"Red Leader [should be] standing by." Seriously, that guy was such a hero, and I think he's earned a minifigure at this point. Especially after his posthumous, archival cameo in Rogue One!

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
RogueTwo replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You're absolutely right. I have no idea what i was thinking when I wrote my post. Based on the two parameters you highlighted, I do think it might be a play-set, and the only 40th Anniversary tie-in idea that comes to mind is a Yavin IV Rebel Base. I guess we'll have to wait and see. -
So...I'm guessing it's a play-set of some kind? I guess I'll just have to keep my head down and be patient and be surprised, for better or for worse.

Thank you for the additional confirmation! Do you know (or are you allowed to say) whether it will be early April for the Snowspeeder, or an end-of-April "May the Fourth" kind of thing? Also, time for me to sign up for a VIP membership.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
RogueTwo replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
From the 2017 rumors thread, Sir von Lego wrote that there may be three UCS sets this year. If the Snowspeeder is a cert and the Falcon is a maybe, what could the third be? Sorry if this has already been talked into the ground, but I would guess a Tantive IV or Imperial Star Destroyer. Or a two-in-one "Opening Sequence" UCS with both for $600 (shudder...)? Also, it may be worth noting that the UCS Landspeeder is still "In Review" on LEGO Ideas. I wouldn't expect it to pass, but if it ever had a chance, this would be the year. If it DOESN'T pass, I think it would be poor form of TLG to release their own version this fall, but...if an original Landspeeder was already in production, I suppose it might happen. You never know. -
I would love to see ONE LAST (yeah, right...) System-scale Snowspeeder with a proper molded canopy and some more creative design for the laser cannons, rather than those cruddy pre-fabricated-looking pieces that have been around since 1999 at least. I feel that this vehicle has been done to death, but never done justice (MOCs not withstanding). I don't even really care which minifigures would be included. I suppose it's inevitable that pretty soon TLG will start remaking all the OT Rebel pilot helmets with built-in transparent visors like the TFA minifigures. At the very least, I have high hopes for the UCS Snowspeeder. Also, an AT-AT/AT-ACT combo pack would be pretty cool (includes the orange cargo container or some grey panels to fill in the cargo hold--wouldn't be that difficult to do). Minifigures: 2x Imperial pilot, 2x Rebel Trooper, 2x Shore Trooper, and...well, if Moroff came with the Y-Wing and Pao came with Krennic's Shuttle, could we please get Galen and Saw with an AT-ACT?

First post, even though I created my account in September. Thank you Sir von Lego for all the information. Actually, the Snowspeeder is what's most important to me, since I've been waiting impatiently for nearly two years. But I'm not really surprised that TLG is making three UCS sets this year. Somehow they fell behind in 2015, and they have to catch up at some point, so when better do so than the 40th Anniversary? The summer sets don't really interest me too much, except for the Bounty Hunter Battle Pack, which seems like a steal (and I don't even like those characters!). Still waiting for the January/March wave here in North America...
