  1. I remember hearing that the new Mario sets have an app that means they can be built virtually and used in different combinations. Maybe Diagon Alley is the same? So maybe when you have the set or the square codes you can access Diagon Alley and explore a bigger virtual version which includes more shops, Leaky Cauldron, the brick wall and Gringotts?
  2. Thanks, that’s very helpful! I found a link to the baseplate on bricklink, it does seem that the piece in light bluish grey is the same as in there set and Diagon Alley comes with four of them! I can’t wait for a video to get a proper idea of scale in real life (my entire Hogwarts build from 2010-2020 is the same length but only when it’s spread out in one line!)
  3. Sorry if this has already been said but what plates are used for Diagon Alley? I wasn’t sure if they were baseplates or not and as I’m thinking of trying to mod some of the other shops I would like them all to have the same baseplate as the official set
  4. That is great! Best picture of the film-accurate QQS I’ve seen, it’s even got that pink colour at the top. Thanks for posting it
  5. Oh wow I hadn’t even noticed how 1 window in quality quidditch supplies is much wider than the other. It seems Lego got that idea from the film as the windows there look uneven. Its Interesting because the shop is different in each of the parks, with only 1 window in one and two even windows in the other
  6. If you look up Lego_Fans_News on Instagram you can see a picture of Lucius and Lockhart taken from the box so it’s still pretty blurry
  7. I’m planning on getting quite a few copies of Griphook just for his new hair piece to make other goblins / different fantasy races outside of Harry Potter
  8. Good points, I hadn’t thought about how the Ollivsmders scene is literally shown on the box Now I’ve thought so much about it I do hope the back pictures are a mistake and the ps outfit is included as I’m going to be a bit miffed if it’s hard to get elsewhere!
  9. It can’t be a fake as it’s got the same head printing as the actual figure in the set. Personally I don’t see why a variant for the scenes in the first movie couldn’t be included in the same set and will be shown in the complete picture of the set online which usually shows the extra wands and stuff
  10. Look up bricktastic.nl Looking back at the box pictures I kinda get what you mean though I think a large part of the problem is that the figures are all just sorta standing around lol - I mean eight of them can't even be put in walking positions because of either short legs or Mrs Weasley's dress piece so a lot of dynamic poses aren't really possible. However I don't think a box picture could really capture the hustle and bustle of Diagon Alley in the first two films without a lot more figures. I think with a lot of extra figures thrown in and some extra stalls around the pavement it will seem a lot more alive and busy!
  11. The tan owl looks to me to be reused from a city set
  12. Thanks for the tip! Searching on Google like you said I found bigger pictures on a site called BRICKTASTIC
  13. Yeah the Quality Quidditch Supplies section looks the most underwhelming to me at the moment although it will probably look a lot better with more pictures. I do really love the build for the ground floor windows though, they look really nice and vintage. Also in regard to the figures I'm probably in the minority here but I would much prefer another Hogwarts torso repeated three times instead of three different civilian outfits I just really like Hogwarts torsos! Also the figures of the trio here are much better than the ones from 2011 when they all reused civilian torsos from the main line of sets. Personally I'm quite looking forward to customising a lot of random Diagon Alley civilians using bits from Build a Minifigure and old Hobbit minifigures!
  14. Whew! Yeah I love it. What's everyone's favourite shop? For me it's Flourish and Blotts, closely followed by the new Ollivanders
  15. Oh wow, this is definitely unexpected! A metre long! Made up of seven different shops! Absolute insanity. It seems to me that the designers decided what to include based on how best a Diagon Alley set would look. Probably in the design process they realised that a long line of shops that all fit together would work much better than having a small line of a few shops and then Leaky Cauldron and Gringotts on either end. Even then a few choices are quite surprising to me, I would definitely have included Eeylops Owl Emporium over stuff like the Daily Prophet offices just for playability but I'll hold off judgement until I see how all the shops fit together
  16. Looking at the lovely print for the picture of Harry's parents it's a shame Lily didn't come with a hat-hair combo as that would help make the figure look a lot less plain, even though it would make her a bit less recognisable. As I'm planning to just put all my non-Hogwarts-based Harry Potter civilians in Diagon Alley I reckon I could get away with making James and Lily a part of that display, as long as I don't include any current students which confuse the time frames
  17. I'd say Borgin and Burkes is the most inaccurate, although its not really shown clearly that was the blandest building by far in the original set, especially when it was filled with so many great Dark Magic artefacts in the books and films Also I definitely agree that we need to keep our expectations in check over the size and detail of the buildings, I would definitely expect them to be around the size of that Ollivanders with none bigger than the Privet Drive set (as an example of a building with around 700 pieces). Also the original Diagon Alley already had 2000 pieces! Even if this new set is double that to me I would imagine they would only be able to do 6 shops in detail, even if they did not have full interiors.
  18. An alley build next to Borgin and Burkes with some signs would be more than enough for me! Hopefully Borgin and Burkes will have the floo feature for Chamber of Secrets but also the stairs and roof where the trio eavesdrop on Draco's Death Eater initiation.
  19. I think that's more likely to be Year 6 in line with WWW as it was the summer at the end of Year 5 / start of Year 6 that the Ministry officially acknowledged Voldemort's return Edit: Also I hope we get some more unique Daily Prophet newspaper prints! I've got loads of the "Boy Who Lived!" ones but I miss unique prints like the 2010 newspapers for the Mass Breakout from Azkaban!
  20. Oh oops! I haven't got a Quirrell minifigure since the 2001 version but even then I was mostly referring to Lucius and Rita Skeeter and Lockhart, who I almost completely forgot! It's probably too late over here to keep speculating about this D2C but the stickers have just made me more awake!
  21. Okay wow wow wow Out of all the potential leaks I was not expecting another sticker sheet, the exact same thing happened with Privet Drive! Maybe sticker sheets will be our main source of information now instead of stolen minifigures! So I definitely think there are missing stickers / printed pieces for the Leaky Cauldron / Borgin and Burkes. One of our only two confirmed minifigures comes with floo network from that particular scene after all - if there's not a floo function for Harry built into the set I'll eat a (chocolate) cauldron. Also Leaky Cauldron can include a load of great Diagon Alley minifigures including Tom the Innkeeper, Daedalus Diggle and Quirrell (does anyone else remember the 2010 Harry Potter 1-4 game where Quirrell was always skulking around Diagon Alley?! good times) Also if the long-awaited Quirrell, Lucius and Rita Skeeter minifigures are all included in this £300-400 set I would be both amused and frustrated for all those that can't afford this, which could potentially include me if I run out of money buying all the other sets first TLDR: I think the stickers are just for Florean Fortescue's shop I think Borgin and Burkes will be included I think there will be a fully model of the Leaky Cauldron I'm not sure about Gringotts but would happily buy an individual set with the dragon on top next year My top 3 expected minifigures are Lucius Malfoy, Daedalus Diggle and the old witch that is creepy towards Harry in Knockturn Alley. And Lockhart!
  22. It should be quite easy to MOD a Leaky Cauldron if it is not included but I hope at the very least there's the brick-wall-opening functioning, that definitely has to be included I just realised that if there are 16 figures included in Diagon Alley it would come with the same amount as the minifigure series! That would be funny if it did and might help me justify the price to myself (seeing as how the cost of a full sixteen minifigures is now £56 according to my maths)
  23. If Florean Fortescue, the ice cream minor character whose in a grand total of 3 chapters and 2 seconds of screentime as featured then anything less than 15 minifigures would be very surprising . I feel like this is a set where Lego will throw in all sorts of side characters to justify the size even more for hardcore AFOL Harry Potter fans Also I had a few thoughts regarding potential minifigures: If the Leaky Cauldron is included then I think characters from that scene in the first film are very likely such as the original Tom the Barman (with hair), Daedalus Diggle and even Quirrel (Lego can then reuse his minifigure from the Great Hall) If Flourish and Blotts is included then I think Lockhart, Lucius Malfoy, Draco and Ginny are very likely to recreate that particular scene from Chamber of Secrets. Ginny's cauldron and Tom Riddle's diary could even be included. Also if yet another Ginny comes in this set, this time with miniature legs, would that count as enough Ginny variants for everyone on this forum?
  24. That sounds reasonable and would look really good
  25. How much of a street are you thinking of? Because I think there should be a modular row of shops that all connect to each other. A bit of pavement in front of each would be fine too but no more than the Modular City sets. I'm of the opinion that creating the full street between the shops will probably be really easy to do with a lot of grey plates so I would rather Lego did not devote a huge piece count to the street outside of the shops. That is a fun fact! I remember hearing somewhere that JK Rowling studied Classical Civilisations; maybe that's why? It would be neat if that was the reason why as Classical Civilisations was one of my A-Levels and studying Classical Sparta and the Bronze Age Aegean made up quite a considerable part of my degree too
