  1. Thanks for your reply CGH. making the couches 8 wide is an excellent idea. When the platforms are two bricks high, they are slightly below the height of the standard train wheels. So the couches would still fit without touching the platforms. I agree on making the driving rods sleeker. I think I will MOD the Emerald Night as such that it fits the platforms as i use them. But, CGH what is your opinion on platform height and distance to the track?
  2. Great stuff CopMike! I like your MOD, or should I say MOC, of the Emerald Night. I really hope Lego will re-release the monorail system in the future.
  3. I agree, the tourist make the MOC come alive. Great job on the statue. Are you planning to put it in a layout?
  4. Dear all, I've been scrolling through the topics about the Emerald Night and haven't found a discussion on this one yet. In my train layout I prefer to have my platforms as close to the track as possible, as in real life. And to have it at least two bricks high. Because having it lower it is just too low, in my opinion. So far I've never run into problems doing so. And scrolling on brickshelf I saw most builders build their platforms that way So here is my "problem" i've finally bought the Emerald Night and ran it along a platform. But the width of the driving rods extend a bit beyond the 8 stud wide track. in effect the emerald is 9 studs wide at the wides part of the driving rods. So the driving rod connecting the large rod to the horizontally moving part gets stuck on top of the platform. a solution would be to move the platform half a stud away. but then the fit is really tight. in effect the rods will touch the platform, and there is no additional space. So another solution is to move the platform 1 stud away. But then, the passengers need to "jump" almost 2 studs to reach the passenger couch. Making the part with the passenger couches look a bit weird. Were if the platform can be just against the rail it is only one stud, which is still a little bit too far to the couch but looks more or less okay. Has anybody experienced a similar problem in running the Emerald Night along his layout? Kind regards, Teddy
  5. Hi SavaTheAggie, I really like the trains you build. I've been scrollong through your folders. They are always full of detail. This one is great as well. And yes, it is an oddball train. But you've captured the essence of the original perfectly. Kind regards, Teddy
  6. Personally, I'm not fond of nationalistic themes. And to see the copy of the "Plakkaat van Verlatinghe" 200 years later? Wiki linky Better show the Dutch original than. Kind regards, Teddy
  7. This is a great layout. i really like your townhall. Do the outer walls consist of several modular sections? Are you planning to extend the town?
  8. Dear Sandy, sorry to see you abandoned your project. I really like what you've done so far. Its interesting to see how you went along with the build. The emphasis in the initial stages seems to be more on interior, than what I would normally do. My way of working on a large castle like this, is to start with what can be build from my collection. Than build that part first to my satisfaction and than add additional spaces on that later on after I collected some more bricks. I've spend quite some time (almost a year) collecting bricks for my castle. As you might remember from the first photos i started with the front. In my castle project I started initially with only a gate building. Than I collected some bricks and added some additional walls After that two corner towers. Than a part of the landscape, etc. And finally a keep. I started on the interiors of parts i finished, while planning for the next stage. I've made all the interiors now except for the keep. But I might alter the exterior a bit if I run out of space on the inside. What I'm trying to say is, you might want to start with the part you can build. And build that fully to your satisfaction and look for brick-deals to expand in the mean while. There are some BL shops who sometimes have good bulk deals. I have to admit, it is a time consuming project this way. But, I actually enjoyed doing this, since friends enjoy seeing updates and I had a clear goal when looking for bricks. Hope this helps? Kind regards, Teddy
  9. Thanks Marcosbessa, you're welcome I really like your theatre. Hi Richie, I've made a track layout in the track designer software tool. Just to show you you can change the pitch of the track from 8 to 6. Even if you dont use flex-track. Here is the layout: kind regards, Teddy
  10. Thanks Zorbas, I've put some versions of trians of the 10183 set in the station. Linky to brickset 10183. But I didn't make a photo yet. I'm planning to extend the platforms a bit so the trains will fit better. Thanks Rick! I'm not sure about the ptice point of such a set. I guess it won't be double of the Green Grocer because I've used a large amout of regular bricks. Thanks ACCURATEin. Glad you like it. Hi Richie, glad you like it. In regards to the 6 stud wide platforms. You are right this could pose a difficutly in incoperating it in a layout. However, there are some options to fix this in the layout. Currenlty, the easiest/cheapest option is using four flextrack sections. Kind regards, Teddy
  11. Yes I agree with CGH. Given the chance to start over I would have used reddish brown on my hull. Oh well, its regular brown now... Hi Phred, glad to see you're back! As for the parts, lots of plates lots of tiles tiles and: -In the case of CGH-single-stud-direction-method (CSSDM) lots of jumper plates. -In the case of the Teddy-multiple-stud-directon-method (TMSDM) some parts like these as well: Linky to BL Linky nr2 to BL Linky nr3 to BL Kind regards Teddy
  12. These are some great Police vehicles. Chrome.. Great use of the Helmet for the motor police.
  13. I love it all. Especially the guy with the cap on his hair piece. You're one of my favourite builders.
  14. Hi SalvoBrick, there are some real marbels in there. Especially the police station and gas station. do you have some photos of them together in a layout?
  15. Teddy

    New LEGO cap!

Now lets hope they put some prints on those new caps.
  16. Hi Eilif, Are you talking about regular blue? Or dark and medium blue?
  17. Thanks Commander Flash. Hi Eilif, that is interesting. One with the tracks underground and one on with the tracks on the 2nd/3rd story. I'll google them soon. Thanks Crystal, you're too kind.
  18. Soo many nice replies. Glad you all like my Central Station. Thanks Hinkley, those compliments mean a lot comming from such an expert CC-style Town builder. I've bee fiddling with the white brick build windows for quite some time, but I couldnt get a sturdy construction without studs. And I did not want to make somehting which is not sturdy. My beer pals tend to knock things over around the house after some Jupilers. On the other hand I felt that brick build windows appeal to me a lot. An underground... I've visited Budapest a couple of years ago and saw a beautyfull underground station there, that was part of the oldest underground line on mainland Europe. At least that was what I was told. That is still something I would like to build into a MOC sometime. Yes in my experience keeping the main color scheme basic is always a good starting point. Sometimes I build an entire MOC in basic colors and put in the details later. When you put the details in in another darker or lighter version of the main colors they tend to be more pleasing. But as with everything there is no iron rule on this. Because the tan windows are way of the main color chart. But I still like them as they are. Thanks for the nice words. I've actually put in dark red, reddish brown and dark orange bricks into the side walls to give that brick build impression. But it is always a bit tricky not to go over the top with these detailings. It's a matter of trial and error. For the interior I contemplated tiling the platforms as well. But after some fiddling I liked the studs there to give it a bit more messy appearance. Hi CGH, Thanks for your compliment! Actually the basic structure of all windows is exactly symetrical, except for the location of the studs in the white brick build windows. The unsemetrical look comes from the photographing under the MOc under an angle, because there can be some dept (1 to 2 studs) from the outside of an arch to the actual front of the window. Even in the dead on photo there is still some angle there which may give the appearance of unsemetricallity. The moddling is a-symetrical ofcourse. And there are some other tiny details in there that break up the symetry a bit. But that was to make it more interesting to look at. I tried to make the MOC as such that it could fit with the CC buildings, but also coud function as a stand alone building. I remember (or think to remember ) seeing a dead end station which is snuck into a city block. But I admit it is rarely done. At least I know for sure that the Antwerp station is next to the Antwerp Zoo. (A CC style zoo could be an idea for a new MOC ) Kind regards, Teddy Thanks Guss. Thanks UserNameInvalid. Thanks gondortoast, the street lights were actually the single most time consuming part of the MOC. I really wanted to do something different from the normal lantarn posts and I just love those elaborate lantarns. My initial designs were a bit too large. Took me some time to get to these. Thanks legotrainfan, Fitting the entire Super Chief. Yes housing the super chief would require quite a lot of extra platform sections. However I've seen in some dead end stations that they extend the platform far beyond the back of the station. So that the station does not nescesarily house the entire train, like the Thalys in the "Gare du Nord" in Paris. Thanks wildchild. Thanks AndyC.
  19. Thanks Elif for your reply. The platforms and the entrance hall are connected with technical pins at the bottom and can be seperated into two modules. For better access to the platform. The roof of the front hall consists of three seperate module as well which rest on tiles. In order to access the space below. The back wall of the entrance building is connected with the side walls on two spots so I can seperate it easily to access the interior spacing. After seperating the front building from the platforms, ofcourse. The black back facade is also a seperate "module" its only connected to the platform at the bottom. So it can be easily removed to acces the platform from the other side. It is possible to make an additional platform module and move the back facade further to the back. Although, personally, I like to keep the station as compact as possible. Thanks for blogging me Dave.
  20. Dear all, thanks for all the cool replies. It's verry satisfying when people like your creations. thanks Brownie, Marcosbessa made a MOC cinema building a short while ago: Linky to topic and ofcourse tehre is Hinkley's cinema : Linky to topic Thanks, ofcourse you can copy some of my ideas. As long as you dont copy the entire MOC. Thanks BlueBard, you're too kind. I actually spend most time thinking up those street lights. Thanks posades, glad you like my castle as well. thanks, I wanted to get as much light into the interior as possible. To give it a nice spacious appearance. Thanks Bartram, My pieces come from: my local toystore, visit to Legoland Billund and Legoland Windsor, PaB wall Koln, Legoworld Zwolle, Ebay, marktplaats, and BL orders. I found that some brick sets containing regular bricks of a couple of years back contained many usefull extra pieces. So over time I collected quite some of them to build my collection. Thanks WhiteFang, an official building?...I wish... You're too kind. Would be amazing to be allowed to make an official building. oh,.. blogged. Thanks, Captain Zuloo. Getting the platforms right was quite a challenge, since I did not want to increase the floor area. Because otherwise the station would have been too big for the CC-buildings. Thanks L-space. Maybe I'll take it somewhere. Thanks the Cobra. Glad you like the peebles. Thanks Panda9001100. I'm sure you can build something similar. Thanks Freddie, it was my goal to make it fit with the CC-buildings. But also to make it stand on its own. Thanks kris kelvin, I'm glad you like it. Thanks spade450, I was aiming at that effect and last evening jus before the sun went down I managed to make that photo. Thanks geiri, glad you like it.
  21. Hi Guss, this is an interesting ship and a great MOC! Did you modify the front hull piece, by adding studs on the side? Kind regards, Teddy
  22. I really like the architecture on this one. the sand green roundbricks give an interesting color variation. Any particular reason why the pavement is not continued all the way to the right? I can't believe you lacked four dark bley 2x2 tiles?
  23. Congrats Hinckley on your victory.
  24. This is a great display. Somehow I like the medieval bridge and the forest the most. Thanks for sharing.
  25. Thanks for the review KimT. Can't wait for this set to hit my local toy store.
