  1. this is a great design. With the use of wall pieces and regular and larger bricks it looks like something Lego could produce. In my opinion modular walls and towers is what we need from Lego, to expand our castle world. And as a kind of parts pack for larger constructions.

    City 2010

you just made me laugh and spit my coffee...
  3. Hi BlueBard, that is a really cool green cafe corner you designed. The colors are "star bucks"-esque. Good idea to put other buildings next to and behind it, that way your main concern is the front facade of the buildings. Kind regards, Teddy
  4. yes this is a really cool video.
  5. This is a really great MOC. There are really great details in there. The finishing is done very well. I have to second CGH though on the water front. Some tan tiles/plates lifting the beacht above the waterline would have been better. Kind regards, Teddy
  6. ********off topic*************** ... now I'm hungry for cake.... ***************************** I like the water texture a lot.
  7. Hi everybody, just got back from my holliday to France and then the USA. (yeah, what a combination. ) Kind regards, Teddy
  8. Okay, most were taken. but here it goes: ... When you go on holliday in the USA and spend more money in the Lego store than on your holiday ... When you start stacking Lego bought on your holliday in the empty spaces of your girlfriends / wifes suitcase ... When you need to buy an additional extra large suitcase just to bring your Lego home from your holliday ... When you need to rent a larger car on your holliday to be able to drive your Lego around from Hotel to Hotel ... When you ask a friend to ship you some Lego since your additional extra large Lego suitcase is already full ... When you buy a ridiculous amount of Lego eventhough you just noticed your Lego room at home is already stacked to the roof and you couldn't fit the sets you bought last week ... When you buy a new dinner table because you use the old one to display your castle ... When you have half of the new dinner table stacked with Lego because your Lego room is full ... When half of your storage space in the basement is taken by Lego boxes ... When your girlfriend/ wife tels your family casualy how much money you spend in the Lego store and your mother faints ... When your dad is not surprised you bought an additional extra large suitcase just to bring your Lego home

wow, so much action over a non-confirmed list. I think I'll just hold back my comments untill I see some pictures. The fire station is not a big surprise given the 3 year life-cycle for fire stations. Personnally, I think/ feel we may get some more sets, since Lego released more new City sets per year the last couple of years (29 in 2008, 24 in 2009).
  10. *** side note *** Hi all, just got back from my holliday. *************** I've been asking Lego for bulk order rebates/ discounts. So I was quite enthousiastic wen I found this topic. But 200 DKK... I could not even build half a deck for my Victory from that. Maybe, me and CGH (CBH?) should start our own LUG and subscribe 8 family members (grandma, grandpa) and order 2000DKK amongst the two of us.
  11. Dear all, thanks for all the cool replies. As for an interior, it is planned but not in there yet. The floorplanning is done, that is why the staircase is in an extension at the back. But, I need to do some additional BL orders to get all the required parts. I'm going on a 3 week holliday next week so I wont be able to build the interior anytime soon. But I wanted to share the exterior pictures non the less. Kind regards, Teddy
  12. B-OM-3B Dear all, the last weeks I've been working on and off on this MOC, since my time is sparse lately. I'd like to thank CGH for his feedback during the build. Kind regards, Teddy --------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Whiskers place to lent books: Main view: Front view: Backview, The tree in the garden was planted at the grand opening in 1904: The Library in my modular street:
  13. Wow Aliencat thats a beautyfull castle MOC! There is so much to like. That display you showed in Oss is great too, too bad I didn't know about it (probably my own falt). (I'm born in Oss, and my family still lives there). I surely would have loved to see it in person. Seeing the evolution from your previous MOC to this; you're one step closer to mont saint michel.
  14. I like it a lot. The tree is great, although it might need to be a bit bigger at the top. the green part is a bit small in regard to the size of the trunk, imo. But the used techniques for the tree are great. I didnt figure out on my own that the flat green surface was actually water/swamp. I just wondered why it was so "dull/ empty/ flat" compared to the rest of the MOC. But now I know. The tiger too stylised for my taste. Initially, I thought an orange blob was tied up with elastic bands. Which made it look strange and out of place. After reading it was supposed to be a tiger, I must say the color really adds to the scene. All in all, very well done.
  15. What a great castle scene! Now I wish you had build the entire castle. The moat is great. I like the use of the plates with clip on the battlements. The wooden tower is great as well, as is the siege engine. It surely has the 80s vibe. (And I see Mr. Whiskers is up to no good. Starting making trouble is this neighbourhood. )
  16. Sorry jansued, I misread your comments. I assumed you were not German, and therefore I reacted. I love Germany a lot and visit it often. I especially love the Kolner carnaval. I used to play the trombone in an orchestra and we had a lot of freundschafts verein in Germany. So I guess I wanted to stand up for my German friends a bit. kind regards, Teddy
  17. I Scream Clone, you're brilliant! Super Star Destroyer
  18. Great comic! started on a professional basis... haha.
  19. Thanks for posting this review. And thanks for making all these nice photos. Must have been quite some work. I'll visit the USA in a few weeks time, so I ll take a look at those firestations myself. Can't wait to get my hands on this set. Oh my... you should be carefull with posting comments like this... A lot of real people got killed and the trauma is still fresh 64 years later. Families dont forget fast nor easily. War is real over here and not a computer game. And please dont forget a lot of German people were trapped in a murederous dictatorship as well, fearing their own and their childrens lives. As for a European Fire station... Here is one from 1909 from the Netherlands. (Edit:)And one from 1897: Kind regards, Teddy
  20. Hi DNL, this is a cool idea to put the castle in the modern age. Could fit right in in any city now. I really like all the little and big changes you made everywhere. And whats with the flying guy? Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy Photoshop is your friend.
  21. Thats a really beautyfull design. Lots of little snot techniques in there to give it just that little more accuracy. Really love the use of that wind screen. It's the first time I've seen it used for this purpose and it looks fantastic. I might copy that windscreen idea in the future. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy
  22. What a lovely truck. I like your design a lot. It is far superior to the 1252-1. Took me some fiddling to get to your brickshelf folder. You might want to consider adding that to your signature. For all others, here is the link to the BS folder: Linky to BS folder I see you made some other great trucks as well. What is the fuel-tank under your Octan truck design? Is that a costum part? Kind regards, Teddy
  23. What a nice hotel layout! And what a lovely use of official sets like the new bus, camper, red car, hotdog vender, minifigure collection, and bus stand. They really look nice allong your MOC. I saw the photos when I was scrolling on brickshelf. Took me quite some time to figure out some of the details. i love the interior and the buildings you put on either end of the hotel. All round great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy
  24. thanks Captain Zuloo, I still think it is a pitty if the Emerald Night cannot run along most layouts because of the width of the driving rods... And trying to avoid it running in a railway station, might not be possible. Does anybody have a solution for fixing the width of the driving rods yet?
  25. Recently I came across this great website of Bill Ward: Link to train layout geometry part of the website of Bill Ward In his website he advices to design your layout with a standard pitch of 16 studs. or 8 studs between tracks. However, fiddeling around in a track designer layout design tool I found a way to change the pitch. The new pitch is now 14 studs, so the distance between the tracks is now 6 studs. Ofcourse, with the new flex track pieces changing the pitch will be easy. But, the one I drawed can be build from standard tracks. Here is a picture: Allowing the pitch to vary, allows for some variation in the railway station platforms. i.e. making them wider or smaller to fit the station instead of having a standard width. Does anybody else have a different way to change the pitch of the tracks? Kind regards, Teddy
