I'm impressed with the downsizing. The pavement pattern is shere brilliance. I also like the little kid playing on the Wii. You could make a Nintendo game screen cap sticker for on the tv.

This is pure class mate. The scale is perfect for the Community Castle Build. Normally i'm not a big fan of using tubes and bricks to make a round wall, but the way you've done it it actually looks organic. The zigzag pattern for the tubes and the color changes work well to give that technique a better look. And luckely you haven't over done it. It reminds me a lot of a city gatehouse I saw in Koln (Germany). The house behind the wall is great and it is really realistic so close to the wall. The little details such as the jail the garden and the interior finish it off. The only improvements I could think off would be double doors and a double porticullis. Linky to portcullis on wiki To make a vestibule to trap invaders after they broke the first door and pick them off while they are trapped. And you could make the doors seal tight at the top as well. There is a little gap there now. But that wouldn't change the overall appereance which is great. It would just add to the playability to trap those trolls. We have broken through the first door wheey... catacling trapped...

oohhh,...I'm loving the architecture. Thanks for sharing those photos. The scooter scene is just an instant classic. The shirt is Paradiso if I remember correctly.

This is a great article. It was a very enjoyable read. Especially with the inclusion of some links here and there. Not too much, not too few, but exactly right.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I tried to make my two buildings an exercise in simplicity. Both in color scheme as in building techniques. As kind of a challenge to myself. Since I'm already SNOT-ting everything in my Victory MOC. (I know it might sound a little nuts, but I am nuts/dutch most of the time. ) The fire station is almost entirely made out of regular 2x4, 2x3, 2x2, and 2x1 bricks. Also the construction is studs up. Except for some simple decorations at the top. In the train station I also tried to use simple studs up techniques as well. An example are the columns. The only really fancy thing there is the arch with headlight bricks and 1x1 tiles. I couldn't resist.. I am weak. But appart from that almost everything is studs up. The end result, is a little more stylised look than the official CC buildings. So with less small details everywhere. but I still think they look okay together. The two buildings feature an interior except for the first (UK)/ second (US) floor of the fire station. The fire station houses the fire trucks from set 7945. Link to brickset 7945 In order to house the bigger truck the interior space needed to be a whopping 26 studs deep. I might give the firestation another function, I will have to think about it. Thanks again for all the cool replies.

Happy birthday! That you may get a lot of Lego.

Fast light chariots were more the Egyption way... Linky to wiki topic. In medievel times a chariot was not used anymore. Instead carriages were the cabs and lorries of the time. So Lego confuses me with this set.

The pool section is brilliant. Do you have some better shots of the shaping of the hull?

Oh my... That is just shocking..

welcome to EB. You werent locked, the topic was.

This is a great fire engine. Looks a lot like the bigger Creator one Lego will release later this year.

I really like the landscaping around the beach. The color scheme works well as well. All in all an extremely cool MOC. The roofs with the jumper bricks look great as well. Although, I'm not sure which effect you were after? Any particular reason for using jumpers and not tiles?

This is a great MOC.

I like your use of old and new brown. And the use of the occasional colored plate to break up the single colored walls. The enterior is great as well. I really dig that forklift. The white truck completes the scene. every town should have its own sausage brand. All in all very well done.

Great review. My girlfriend loved the box art on this set so much she wanted to build it. She enjoyed building it and how it looks. So it much be really good.

Dear all, in another topic there was a requist to put my fire station and train station next to the CC style buildings for comparison. For a while now they actually have been co-existing in our living room. After the firestation release by lego I'm contemplating demolishing my firestation since two firestations would seem silly in such a small layout. Well here are the photos. Comments are welcome. Kind regards, Teddy

Great interview. It was a pleasant read. But, I'm still curious were HMS243 came from.

Hmm, I still believe the best way to get the proportionallity right in this set; is to add two brick heights to the red part of the top floor. The top floor seems a bit squized inbetween the groundfloor and the top facade. But this are minor issues and I think my girl won't allow me to fiddle with it. She already reserved a spot in our livingroom next to the CC, GG, and MS for it.

Originally, it was actually CGH who brought it to my attention. I'm hoping to start building on my HMS Victory soon again. I'm steadily collecting some nescessary bricks to make the next step. And hopefully I'll have some more spare time later this year. Kind regards, Teddy

Oh my... Dear SavaTheAggie I guess you're a bit overly sensative. You read stuff into replies I don't see... I for one am a big fan of American style firestations. Personally, I think people are just comparing styles. Jugendstil vs Art Deco. Although I'm not completely sure CC and GG are Jugendstill. I guess they call the one a European-style and the other an American-style, but I'm not sure if that is entirely correct. The main complaint about the flag was the lack of detail. But'I'll turn it in a Dutch one anyway. As a Dutchmen I would rather die than make it a French flag. We didn't defeat that murderous Napoleonic French at Waterloo for nothing, after they occupied our nation and destroyed our 200 year old Republic. Kind regards, Teddy

I'm trying to figure out why people feel a little letdown by the set: Personally, I think the ground floor extends a little bit too much compared to the other CC-style buildings. But that could have been rectified if the second floor was extended two bricks higher. to get the ground floor hight and the second floor hight more in proportion. More like this: Also the color scheme is a bit too different between floors IMO. And they could have hidden the bell tower a bit more behind the top facade. It's a bit too much "in your face" right now, I think. But I'll like it anyway. It's a fantastic set compared to all the fire stations we have had from Lego.

Thanks guys for all the great comments! Today I saw a nice complete version of the Victory on Brickshelf. Gives some idea of the end result. Although I try to believe mine is still slightly more detailed. But still this: link to Brickshelf folder is the best complete version yet. It does give me some encouragement to keep going on this huge project. Kind regards, Teddy

There is a second floor, but they left it off while photographing the first one from the top.
