  1. oh no.... I'm late to the party, again. And I don't want to end up making the dentist. He haunts me in my sleep... Let me just check what else is on the list.
  2. I like city/town, because I noticed that people who aren't into Lego generally like those MOCs the best, and give the most positive reaction to city/town MOCs.
  3. He TheBrickser, beautyfull new addition! Are you planning to build for example a market square or something to line up your buildings in a different way next? Or are you planning to keep on adding as it is? Kind regards, Teddy
  4. I think lower taxes and lower labour cost accounts for the price difference alone. EU Store chains generally need to pay their employees much much more in most parts of Europe than their USA counter parts need to. In the Netherlands for example a ToysRus store employee makes approximately a factor of almost four times more than his USA counter part in gross income per hour. This is because minimum wage in the USA is much much lower than in most parts of Europe and labour costst in most parts of Europe are regulated via labour union deals which do not exist in the USA. I do not want to go in to any political debate to what is better: higher wages for store employees or cheaper products for consumers. But that is were the EU and USA system differs. So price difference is: taxes and labour costs. Kind regards, Teddy
  5. Happy New Year!!! Happy MOC-ing everyone!
  6. Oehhh... the ship is available...now...4 weeks early!!! Jeej! The wait is over! Well, technically, it will be over when the postmen visits my house the comming week. Jeej, Can't wait.
  7. hi Sandy, that is a really sweet MOC with all kinds of neat details in there. I really like the color scheme and the garden loo. Kind regards, Teddy P.S. I really like your avatar design.
  8. Personally, I think Romans are slightly more versatile in a faction sort of way since you can pitch them against a verry large number of other factions. From Carthage, to the Egyptians, to the Germanic tribes, to the persian empire, Byzantians vs Western Roman empire. Ofcourse, you can pitch the Greeks against the Perians and Egyptians as well. And ne could build numerous greek tribes/city state factions and pitch them against each other. But given the geographic spread of the Romans I would probably prefer them, but only slightly.
  9. The video makes your MOC look even better! The song is great as well! Picturing some action around Rosa's Cantina. "Out in the west Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl..." "Nighttime would fine me in Roses Cantina" "Music would play and Felina would whirl" tadadada sweet
  10. Jeej, two new human factions! Given the quality af the current minifig designs i have high hopes for the minifigs. The sets themselves look like great part packs as well. Thanks Lego!
  11. Hi Kris Kelvin, This is really beautyfull. I like the snowy feel, the box, and the spooky eerieness of the scene. Kind regards, Teddy
  12. Hi Kriz Kelvin, Beautyfull castle. The tiling on the wall makes it verry recognizable as your creation. It reminds me a lot of your imperial barracks MOC. Verry interesting color scheme with the dark red, rown and brown. Do you have any backside photos, or interior shots? Kind regards, Teddy
  13. Hi SlyOwl Extraordinary good use of pieces. Nice detailing and a really clever way to brake up the roof with the planking. and I really like the use of yellowed pieces for extra texturing. The use of clips and round plates for texturing is done tastefully and has a really good balance to it. All round superb creation. Only whish the Church was complete. Kind regards, Teddy
  14. Hi DNL, beautyfull castle. Interesting color scheme. Great use of dark red, dark rown, rown and brown. Some parts have the illusion of being repared later by using larger areas of dark red, but I guess that was done on purpose. Also a really great idea for the glass windows. A really original find I must say. Hope you don't mind if I copy that somewhere in the future. Kind regards, Johan
  15. Hi Aliencat That is a really beautyfull MOC. The colorscheme and grey/black corner remind me of the Lego version of the Frauenkirche Dresden: Linky to MOCpage Great job on the dome. Great interior detailing. Kind regards, Teddy
  16. Hi Captain Blackmoor, Sorry for not replying sooner. I've been extremely busy with my dayjob lately (working around 16 hours a day seven days a week). Most deadlines are around the end of the year somehow. But now I'm kind of broken, but I made those deadlines. That was probably why I behaved a bit zomby like at Legoworld as well. Back then I was already deprived of sleep. You really improved your buiding skills a lot latetly, and this is (I think) your best work I've seen so far. I really like what you've done with the tumble home of the ship. the main picture does not due this effect justice, but i looked at it in you Flickr folder. All round a very good entry and a very original story. allround thumbs up. kind regards, Teddy P.s. How is your large ship project comming along?
  17. Hi everybody, thanks for showing an interest in my progress on this huge project! I've been wroking as a beast at my dayjob. Unfortunately, the busiest period tend to be the last of the year. Always when cool competitions, such as PTV and CCC, come around. I am planning to due some work at Christmas and post an update. Hi Guss, the brown belley of the beast is "one" piece. To provide a sturdy basis for the ship. The orlop deck is modular and consists of three main pieces, which lay inside the brown belley as you can see now. So you could argue that the part below the waterline is one main piece. Original plan as currently drawn out: All the gun-decks on top will be devided in three main blocks around the masts so i can lift them off individually (much as the new lego ship, but including all three gun decks). That is the original plan. Although, I've been sketching out a redesign, in which the decks above the waterline are "one" main piece as well of which I can remove parts of the sides for access to the gun decks. And which will allow for removal of the backside, thus allowing access to the captains quarters. Thus the ship will than be two main big blocks: above the waterline and below the waterline. Allowing for full rigging and access of the gundecks, living quarters, the orlop and hold. And which could allow the above waterline block to be part of a pirate diorama. Kind regards, Teddy
  18. Aha, Santa sneaking through the chimney again. Serves him right to end up in the pot. I see Mister Whiskers is having some action in the attic as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Mister Whiskers, being such a big pot, had something to do with Santa ending up in the pot.
  19. These are some outstanding MOCs! I especially like the canal house. Although, the owners should fix the front wall a bit. It is falling apart. Kind regards, Teddy
  20. Hi Jasper Joppe Geers, those are some great buildings. I llike them a lot! I've scanned your photobucket folder and read your first post thoroughly. Two of your links in the first post link to the same photo. The link to your bikeshop seems to be missing, but I found it nonetheless. I think it should have been this link, but correct me if I'm wrong: Linky to your bike shop in bucket folder Kind regards (from another Dutchie on the forum), Teddy
  21. I think I met one of you guys at Billund a few years back. They were selling tubs of Lego for which you could collect the individual bricks from a huge bin in the middle of the park shop. one of you was there with his family collecting new light grey bricks for the moon base and staying in the Lego hotel. I was there for one day collecting brown bricks with my girlfriend for my HMS Victory MOC. Nice to see what you are building with (those) bricks. Kind regards, Teddy
  22. Hmm, I tell everybody who is interested or willing to listen. I guess I feel no shame, must be my Dutch nature. And when you visit my house it is quite in your face, since the living room is filled with Lego. I must admit some people don't really understand, untill I show them some MOCs. And even then I often have to tell them I really designed and build it myself. But actually out of a hundred people 99 are interested, since they had Lego as a kid as well.
  23. Captain Zuloo and Cutlass_Iz, thanks for the interview. Reading the interview typed out like that, I just realise I start sentences without proparly finishing the one I already started. This makes for quite a difficult read. Sorry for that. And I just realise my pronounciation is still a bit Dutch since some words were ment slightly different. But it makes the read more interesting as you can sometimes read my Dutch pronounciation inbetween. And also my habit of building several dependent clauses into each other when telling a story is quite confusing. Thanks again for having me for this interview. Kind regards, Teddy
  24. Hi Slyowl, I really love this castle. Your use of tiles for texture is something I really like. It makes the scene/walls more interesting. Where you planning to use more textured bricks, or is there a rule of thumb you use for the amount of texturing (tiles and bricks) you put in? I see, you used some old light grey parts as well. Where you, originally, planning to use more old grey bricks for slight color variations in the larger tower? Or, are those couple of bricks the maximum you wanted to put in? Just some questions to get an insight in your way of thinking about these topics. I normally just do trial and error. Building walls several times untill I'm satisfied. But I've noticed there are some "ritmes" in there (when putting texture in a wall) that generally result in a pleasing result. So I'm curious to how you handle those things. Thumbs up from me. Kind regards, Teddy
  25. "It's the final countdown, tadada-da tadadadada...." Cheesy, I know I know. I just wished they would have released this before Christmas this year.
