  1. This is an excellent set. Guess I'll have to find another function for my own CC style fire station. personally, the only dislikes are the tree and the flag. but the flag is easy to turn into a proper Dutch one. Kind regards, Teddy
  2. This is a great tram. Was this the one you were after? Kind regards, Teddy

Wow, that must have been a delicate balancing act. No, glue is a big no no in my book.
  4. Nice idea and implementation of putting the battery and engine in a boxcar. The red boxcar held the batteries, but the motor was still in the loco. I know for sure, since it is the only electric loc I've got.
  5. Welcome to Eurobricks.
  6. I prefer a pic in the first post. So I always put a pic in my first posts as well. But i can imagine some people getting swamped with all the photos they have to put everywere. Among most lego sites there is no uniformaty on the pic size. Some are 800x600 others are 640x480, and others 400x300. Personally, I make my pics 800x600 for EB and wen I find more time I'll scale them for other websites as well. I nearly always post them on EB first. Then there is the managing of mocpages, flickr, and brickshelf. Since time is sometimes thin I recently only updated my brickshelf folders. And I seldom check my mocpages and flickr acount. All in all managing all your photos can be a very time consuming activity. So preferably a pic, but I can imagine people getting a bit swamped with scaling and managing all sites and therefore posting a link.
  7. Welcome to Eurobricks Ryjek!
  8. Echo here. I really like this MOC, but it doesn't remind me of Istanbul. Visited Istanbul three years ago. Never heard of the song either. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Nice LDD of the Cafe Corner. Must have been quite some work to finish. I'm impressed. Especially with the angled structure. I totally agree, for starters they could give deductions for bulk orders. If you order for example 100+ of one specific item they could give 10-20% off. It's not like ordering more adds to the logistical difficulties of an order, so a lower price for bulk is perfectly reasonable.
  10. This is a beautyfull castle! all the lovely details. This is really one of my favourites castles up untill now. I'll save this for future reference. I especially like the moddling you've done with the random dark bley tiles. Is there a particular reason why you didn't use light bley tiles as well? I have to concur with Holodoc that the round towers seem a bit out of place compared to the other walls. But I'm not yet aware of a more satisfactory technique, except for tiling the exterior of the towers with light bley tiles. But that could leave annoying gaps between the tiles. As far as the landscape is concerned I love your rock formations. But I'm a bit curious to your choice for a green field around the castle. The original Lichtenstein castle sits on the top of a high mountain, protecting the back. You're version seems to be a bit vulnarable at the back in that green field, maybe a moat at the back would look better? Looking forward to your replies. Thanks a lot for sharing this beautyfull castle. Kind regards, Teddy
  11. This is a cool topic. Me and my girlfriend bought an appartement together over a year ago. But I was already in my Lego hobby for over two years then. Although we know each other for five years now. She is really cool with my hobby. I even got a special Lego room with a tv, computer, and beer-fridge. We bought a closet with partly glass doors to display my star wars sets. She has a desk there as well were she can study when I build. But Lego has invaded our other living space as well. My castle sits on a table in the dining room and my city MOCs are on the window stills in the living room. I even store some sets in large plastic containers under our bed. Our storage space is full of Lego boxes because I save all of them. I even convinced her to build some sets, which she actually enjoys to do. But not too often. Her first set was the technic set 8285. She tougth it looked cool on the box art, but the building was an over kill. Took her over two weeks to complete. Well she didn't build fulltime ofcourse. We even planned some hollidays around Lego; going to Denmark and London. Visiting the Legoland parks ofcourse, and we visited Legoworld in the Netherlands together the last few years. She even encourages me to buy new Star Wars sets, because she likes the minifigs. And she buys me the occasional set. For a while Lego star wars was her favourite wii computer game. So she actually encourages my hobby. I guess she likes the fact I'm around the house when I'm building with Lego. My previous hobby, race-rowing, required me to train and later coach every day and twice on sunday. And every other weekend there was a competition on saturday and sunday. So i was away a lot. (Although I'm getting bit heavy without the excersize. ) And it helps that her grandmother is my biggest fan and her sister is into Lego too. She even asked me to build a Lego painting for our Living room. But we still have to find a nice example. Kind regards, Teddy

This is a nice little MOC zorro. I like the docs you've build. How did you connect the head to the red cap? Good luck with your Ambessador ambitions. Kind regards, Teddy
  13. Congratulations Zorro!
  14. Thanks for the reviwe Guss. It's always nice to see reviews of these old classics.
  15. This is a nice topic. My first nickname was: "History Professor" Currnent nickname: "Prince Carnaval"
  16. Welcome to Eurobricks, that is already a nice collection you have there. I can second that. The BSB is the best ship designed by Lego up untill now in my opinion.
  17. Great interview Captain Zuloo. Now we know were CGH his nickname comes from.
  18. A petition... for a book... on Indiana Jones... Yes, I'm feeling the culture clash right here. But good luck nonetheless. Hopefully all the EB Indie fans who want the book will sign. Kind regards, Teddy
  19. The ship is sailing so fast the apparent wind is directed backwards. Linky to wiki page on apparent wind Kind regards, Teddy
  20. This is really amazingly done. I really like how you combined colors and texturing to give it an authentic look. I especially like how you used "standard" (studs up) techniques to give the merchants guild a beautifully textured exterior. Is there an interior of the buildings as well? Kind regards, Teddy
  21. Thanks for your reply, The New Orleans carnaval comes quite close to the Carnaval celebrated in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. I think the main difference is that here it is not concentrated to one city. Rather, every village, town, and city celebrates its own carnaval. Next to this, every village, town and city has its own council of 11 and a prince carnaval, who is elected at 11-November. Larger towns and cities may have multiple carnaval societies, with each their own council and prince. During Carnaval (which offically lasts 3 days, but many celebrations go on in front of these days) the mayor hands over all power to prince carnaval of the town in an official ceremony. Also, everybody is fully dressed in an outfit during all the days of the carnaval celebration. Most cars in the parades are humurous and politcal in nature. Making fun of local, national, or international politicians, officials, or events. Some carnaval celebrations have a certain theme or motto, but this may vary from town to town. The people making a car for a parade work on it all year round and are organised in carnaval groups. So the carnaval is celbrated by all people. Driving through the regions celebrating carnaval during carnaval you will only find dressed up people everywhere. And numerous parades going on in different towns and villages. Sometimes the spectators are more elaborately dressed than people taking part in the parades. There is a long tradition of designing your own elaborate costume. Although most people buy one in a shop nowadays. In short, it really is a peoples party celebrated by everyone. Hopes this kind of explains the Carnaval tradition we have over here. Kind regards, Teddy
  22. Oh no... What have I done... Must have been that Dollar Euro cartoon...
  23. Blue coats... I'm not sure Lego would introduce them as a seperate faction. In the old catalogs red and blue coats were in the same faction. And for a while were sold together. A new ship with bluecoats. That would be fantastic. I think I will be dreaming lego bricks tonight... again... Kind regards, Teddy
  24. Thanks Klaus-Dieter, in the end I think choosing the Carnaval costume parade as a setting for my entry was a wrong choice. Most people didn't recognise it as classic town. I guess because carnival is not known as such all around the world. Wiki link to carnival Although set 1592 depicts a Carnaval scene as well. Kind regards, Teddy
  25. I've checked my normal recourses, but I can only find a few architecture sets available at BL. But this set isn't one of them yet. 90 Dollars seems quite steep for 21005. I'm not sure what that will eventually retail for in Euros, since VAT is always included in the European retail prices. But an educated guess would be 99,99 Euros, so somewhere between 90 and a 100 Euros. So I guess I'll have to convince someone in Texas to send it as a gift. And I'll send 90 Dollars worth of Dutch cheese as a gift in return ofcourse. Off topic venting of taxing anger: Kind regards, Teddy
