LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Luke’s lightsaber includes a kyber crystal, represented by tr-light-blue 2x2 round bricks Nice attention to detail, now I wish Yoda’s counterpart included it as well -

Fair enough. I know remakes are necessary and I’m usually fine with them, as long as they include something new, be it a side-build or new minifigs Recent remakes have started to fail a bit in that regard. The 2016 CTT was great despite being its third version because it included ROTS versions of Luminara and Quinlan, while the 2019 AT-AP was a disappointment to me for its failure to deliver anything even remotely new. I wish they still handled remakes like they did in 2014, where they sometimes threw in completely nonsensical characters just for heck of it (Palpatine in the Droid Tri-Fighter and the Neimoidian guard in the Vulture Droid set being the prime examples) -

Exactly what I had in mind That is infinitely more appealing than whatever a new HE set could offer in that regard -

And let’s not kid ourselves, if TLG stepped on the PT train again it’d mostly be remakes anyway, not sure why people are THIS keen on that (unless they missed all the previous sets of course) I mean, when was the last time they released a PT set that wasn’t a remake of sorts, the duel with Maul on Naboo? As a long-term collector, remakes always annoy me a bit, no matter which trilogy they’re from. And the gaps in the PT are not that significant to me, same with the OT and ST. The only thing I really want out of the prequels are remakes of the Coruscant chase scene, Jango’s Slave I, and the brown version of the droid starfighter. The old ones just don’t hold up that well. And of course, a Phase II Cody. Other than that though, I’m mostly satisfied. Or are people really clamouring for the likes of Sio Bibble? Besides, at lot of prequel characters would be better served in TCW sets. Wat Tambor for instance would work far better in a TCW set compared to an AOTC or ROTS one -

Not sure what “new” figures we could expect here, unless they got really creative and included a Hogsmeade resident like Aberforth That’s why I prefer remakes that actually have some minifig/creature potential, like PS Hagrid’s Hut for instance -

Indeed, more minifig-scaled sets based on previous movies (doesn’t matter which ones) would be great Don’t you mean 90’s though? The only film released in the 80’s was the first Batman, and that was at the very tail end of the decade -

It’s heavily implied that this is not all there is Season 5 is planned to be the final one, if the Duffers haven’t changed their mind. So if they start filming it soon-ish, they should get it done before the kids get noticably older. The times of twenty-somethings pretending to be highschoolers in shows and movies are definitely over …mostly. *laughing hysterically at Dear Evan Hansen* -

We do, but the spin-offs and the animated shows apart from TCW have it even worse, I’d argue As rare as they currently are, at least we’re still getting PT sets now and then. Solo, Rogue One, Rebels, and Resistance have simply been abandoned with slim chances of being revisited. My only hope for seeing some of the missing characters is for them to pop up elsewhere, which is far more likely for some of them (Saw, Seventh Sister, Dryden) than others (L3, Galen, 95% of the Resistance cast). This is where the accessory packs could (or should?!) come in, but I’m not too optimistic about that We should consider ourselves lucky if they’re not both based on the OT -

Yeah, I admit I was having a bit of fun tearing apart strawmans, as you do The overall point still stands though, hyperbole doesn‘t help anyone‘s case. I‘m also miffed about large gaps in my collection TLG hasn‘t filled in yet, but I don‘t accuse them of purposefully going against my wishes And as has been pointed out many times before, we don’t have the necessary sales data to draw any meaningful conclusions, only TLG have. We only have anecdotal evidence at best, which makes this discussion rather pointless IMO All we can do is wait for future set lists (and not boycot the few PT sets that do get released ) -

Yes, those are obviously synonymous While this may be the intention behind such statements, pretending to be the victims of a conspiracy doesn‘t exactly help the PT fans‘ case -

„Company hates subset of products they‘re making“ is not only a bold claim, it‘s also complete nonsense What does it even mean? Who‘s doing the hating here? The designers? They‘re working closely together with Lucasfilm, and even though they have vetoing powers of sorts (see Krennic‘s Shuttle), they can‘t let personal biases influence their decisions, if they even have them in the first place. And even if they do, how this is supposed to a constitute a „fact“ is beyond me. Do they have anti-PT propaganda posters hanging in the office that you have personal knowledge of? The amount of sets released doesn‘t prove anything, let alone personal feelings. It’s just business. Back to Krennic’s shuttle: By your logic, them favouring Krennic’s Shuttle over the 4-winged transport must mean they absolutely hate the latter ship, right? Going with Ahsoka as the 150th Brickheadz means they hate every other character, right? TLDR: Not releasing sets =/= „hatred“ -

The Duffer brothers once said that there will be 5 seasons in total, which is a good point to end the series IMO It's a D2C set, which is the umbrella term UCS has meant different things in the past, but now it only refers to the large scale SW models, while the SW playsets are labeled under MBS. Every other large exclusive set is just a D2C -

Of course he does, him hitchhiking his way through the galaxy would be silly I definitely agree in that we need helmets based on the PT and ST, hopefully starting next year Still, the Darktrooper helmet makes sense as a companion to both the Mando helmet and the „battlepack“. Also, it‘s iconic enough in its own right I would say -

Never heard that opinion before, but to each their own My order is 1-3-2. I also enjoyed all three of them, but the reason S2 is last place for me is not what you think it is (I’m one of the 5 people that didn’t mind the infamous chapter 7). Instead, it’s the death of Personally, I‘m hoping for a set based on Starcourt Mall, like the custom set that CM4Sci designed. I‘m still salty about that April Fools prank he played last year -

Stranger Things is my favourite show (besides Mando) and the only one I’ve ever binge-watched I know some people didn’t particularly like seasons 2 or 3, but as @THELEGOBATMAN says, it’s still very popular overall. To me, this is the best LEGO-related news for 2022 thus far by a LARGE margin Whatever the set is, I just hope they include Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan -

BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Of course that’s also what I’d prefer, but four to five new prints plus a recoloured helmet is a lot to ask for in such a pack They might surprise us with an increased budget for these compared to previous packs, but I‘m not counting on that -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I certainly hope not. Not only are the accessory packs a lot harder to get, they have a MUCH lower budget than BPs. They’re only allowed to include a handful of exclusive prints, an occasional recoloured part, and importantly, no new moulds. I’ll gladly pay the equivalent of $20 if the BPs continue with the same quality as before. Accessory packs could never serve as a proper replacement, even if they’re $5 cheaper Something like the Sith Trooper BP or Mando BP just wouldn‘t be possible under these restrictions. Besides, the accessory packs (at least thus far) are not supposed to be army builders in the first place, hence the abundance of named characters -

True, but there’s no need to go that far. We know that the Inquisitorius ceased to exist before ANH, and while there are A LOT of stories set between ROTS and ANH right now, they will stop focussing on that era long before we run out of numbers All they need to do is stop killing them off so soon, or repurposing them carefully I mean quite a few of them die rather close to ANH, so they can still use them in stories set further back in time. That was my first thought when I saw that concept art If they release just one set based on the show for now, this should be it. -

No idea. On the one hand, the MCU is popular enough to warrant a yearly series, but on the other, yearly licensed follow-up series haven’t been a thing for a while. Could get stale rather quickly, even with the amount of shows on the horizon If they stopped releasing comic-based stuff or made-up Spider vehicles, they’d have enough set slots to cover all of them
