LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I’m not even surprised anymore at this point. 2023 is just a giant L, isn’t it -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I’ll try to stay as positive as I can, but man, this is still such a disappointment. It’s like seeing four birthday presents in front of you, and then someone storms in, smashes one of them with a mallet and burns the remains. You may still get the other presents, but that’s not what anyone will remember about that birthday anymore, is it Same. I love rumours, speculation, and leaks, but this is a HUGE downside to them. Honestly, it’s so much worse than the survey leaks though. In that case, we were at least made aware of the possibility that those may never see the light of day from the getgo. That’s different than learning about a cancellation a few weeks ahead of release Speaking of which: why did nobody warn us? This has allegedly been known for months, after all. Might have lessened the blow a bit if we knew before pictures leaked. Seconded. I don’t usually demand information from leakers, but please spill the beans on this one -

It’s okay! I don’t think it’s farfetched to demand an explanation as to why an entire wave based on an upcoming movie gets cancelled Good thing that’s not actually confirmed -

That doesn’t change anything. It got far enough into production that I want an explanation. Sure, they don’t technically owe us one as the sets were not officially announced, but I’m effin pissed nonetheless -

They better explain themselves. Seriously, after years of waiting, they do this to us?! I'm done, screw you TLG -

How likely is it that a few copies may have gotten into circulation, à la Overwatch 2? If so, those prices are gonna be UGLY -

…are you kidding me. 2023 is souring on me VERY quickly -

Maybe, maybe not. All three of them are recent minifigs, so the seller offering those doesn’t really mean anything. That said, I wouldn’t mind if they were to be included -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Depends. While most of us would obviously prefer models like that over mechs/buildable figures, we don’t know the sales figures. For all we know, the mechs might be the most popular subtheme among kids! -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I don’t see any reason to ditch the theme. While I may not agree with every choice, we’re still getting enough good stuff to keep me invested As a completionist (sort of), it’s hard to drop out anyway -

This discussion makes me wonder if a D2C set could actually be in the cards for this theme at some point. Most likely not this year as we would’ve heard about it already, but maybe if it continues It’s the only theme I’m collecting that never had one! -

Why is coming up with weird conspiracies the new copium? PT fans have nothing to complain about really. We finally got our long-awaited Cody last year and a UCS Gunship the year prior, how are these not massive wins? And the upcoming helmets too! Sure, this summer’s PT stuff so far sounds lackluster to say the least, but at least we’re getting something. Andor/Kenobi/TBoBF fans are starving and ST/RO/Solo fans can play xylophone on their ribs now. Rebels/Resistance fans are compost. All the while OT fans are about to burst and they’re still getting dessert shoved into their faces As a fan of new stuff and especially new characters (whatever era they’re from) I require more nutrients too These sets are breadcrumbs to me, give me some MEAT -
Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Good point. But I can’t imagine we’re getting all of these sets this year AND then the four from the survey leaks (plus maybe others) next year too. Or will they also celebrate the 101th anniversary? Maybe the piece counts changed for the final versions? -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not sure. Aquaman used to be a complete joke too, but he got redeemed, multiple times even! Morbius could get the same treatment once enough time passes But yeah, for the foreseeable future he’ll be nothing but a joke Now that‘s too pessimistic -

Super Mario 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Correct, there are no rumours. People just speculate about potential minifig sets based on circumstantial evidence. If we can call it „evidence“ at all. All we know is that there is no starterpack-shaped box and allegedly no series 7. Concluding this must mean minifig sets are coming is quite a leap in logic -

We just had the Dagobah diorama last year As for the rumour itself: meh. The last one only included the same old Yoda and R2, and I expect the same from this one. NEXT -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would unironically enjoy sets based on the two Schumacher films. The campy designs would make for some cool vehicles and fun minifigs. After all, the movie designs were „toyetic“ on purpose And come on, when else will we ever get minifigs based on characters played by Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Uma Thurman? -

Yeah, but people have only themselves to blame if they fall for that sort of crap. I dislike those shameless charlatans as much as the next guy, but we cannot really stop them. What we need is more media compentency -
Super Mario 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Izzynufc-2's topic in LEGO Licensed
Just my opinion, but as far as I‘m concerned, printed heads just do not work for Mario and friends. Look at the bootlegs and you‘ll see why I think that If a cartoony character’s head shape is unique enough, a new part is justified in my eyes. The Simpsons are a good example. Using regular minifig heads looks cheap, awkward and offputting to me. Same thing with that goofy-looking Squidward from 2006, which got completely blown out of the water (pun intended) when the version with the moulded head got released Sure, most cartoon characters with specialised heads tend to be animal-based, but Mario‘s head shape is unique and distinct enough to also warrant that treatment. -

DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

No matter what it is, at least they‘re being upfront about it being based on ol‘ Batsy. This theme stopped being „DC Superheroes“ a while ago And even if other DC heroes still got sets, there ain‘t no way any of them had a $450 set dedicated to them
