Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sounds like a solid minifig selection I wonder if the Giant-Man figure will be more like the 2016 version or last year’s construction figure Fingers crossed for the former, but after Surtur, I wouldn’t be shocked if it was the latter -

No, because a Daily Planet D2C set is still magnitudes more likely than D&W sets ever were -

The Superheroes team right now: Seriously though, I think Marvel is much more likely to get another modular before DC does. As much as I believe in the DCU‘s success, it first has to prove itself before a D2C set can be dedicated to any movies. The Baxter building is more likely in my opinion -

More like microscale, like the 2015 one The Helicarrier currently on shelves should already be nanoscale, otherwise it‘d be picoscale Not too sure about Oscorp as a D2C set. It may be the second-most well-known Spidey-related building, but it‘s essentially just another skyscraper. Sure, including a bunch of Spidey villains would make it recognisable as such, but I still think there are better options -

I think that‘s a good idea. I’d rather they limit it, as it may prevent ideas from getting rejected partially based on the number of figures. Of course we don’t know if that has ever played a role in a rejection, but it can’t be ruled out either This obviously doesn’t affect non-Ideas sets, otherwise we could kiss battlepacks goodbye -
Both excellent points. What‘s the distinction between „forced“ and „natural“ diversity I wonder? These days, pretty much every character who isn‘t a cis-het caucasian man, no matter whether they‘re brand-new or adapted, gets called „woke“ online. So what exactly are the criteria here? Whether a creator is a fan of the IP or not is irrelevant as it‘s always a group effort. Fans can hand it poor scripts and writers unfamiliar with the IP can deliver great work. Encyclopedic knowledge of the IP can‘t help you write a good story That‘s why the connective tissue and easter eggs are often added by people outside of the main writing team. For instance, the idea to use Saw Gerrera as the leader of the Partisans in Rogue One didn‘t come from any of the writers, it was the storygroup who suggested it. Just my 2 cents.

Super Mario 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Videos taken at SDCC show how the set works. Turning the crank moves Yoshi‘s arms and legs as well as Mario’s cape, while a second knob can be turned to move Yoshi’s tongue This set might take the crown for the ugliest backside of any official set though, beating even last year’s Temple of the Golden Idol In both cases, that’s perfectly acceptable though as they’re made to be displayed on shelves and the functions are worth sacrifing the aesthetic of the backsides in my opinion -

Them sticking to the release date is very surprising. Not impossible since even big budget movies can be completed within a year and some change, but that announcement means they likely settled on both a director and a script behind the scenes now As for sets, we can definitely rule that out. As you say, the movie’s gonna be R-rated. The big question is now how many sets Thunderbolts* and F4 will get. Fingers crossed for 2 and 3 respectively! -

According to exabricks, these 9 minifigs are included (perhaps more): Wolverine (reused) Gambit Storm (new hairpiece) Cyclops (printed legs) Jean Iceman Bishop Rogue (reused) Xavier I suppose this matches the leaked image? -

Well that’s something new, a deep-fried leak Alleged leak, that is. Not trusting this one yet. @poisonbricks: Real or not, I‘d suggest to remove the link. EB policy -

A blurry picture of the Burrow has leaked in the usual place! I spotted a new flying owl in dark grey! -

Exactly. A cool ship with 3 Jedi, an ex-Jedi, an assassin, and a Sith with a sick helmet? Many would buy such a set on these grounds alone, no matter whether they‘ve seen the show or not -

My point was more that there was seemingly no moral issue with a SW series having a cold-blooded killer as its protagonist and (along with Rogue One) depicting the rebels as far less noble and more desperate and morally grey than the OT ever showed them as. But The Acolyte depicting the Jedi Order as flawed (which the PT and TCW also did) is suddenly an issue, so much so that people argue sets should be off the table? If Andor got a set, I don’t see why The Acolyte also shouldn’t have at least one. If you don’t like the show, simply don’t buy the sets if they ever release any -

They usually aren’t that stingy with Disney sets. Look at the Snow White cottage! Sure, it’s “just” a $90 set, but I can’t imagine them doing only the bare minimum here. -

The Exile II is a cool and pretty unique design though. And Qimir and Sol at least are plenty memorable I’d say (Yord and Jecki too in my opinion) Couldn’t agree more with @ToaDraco. Every show or movie should at least have one set to have the basics covered. I don’t like having obvious gaps in my collection. Marvel, DC, WW, PotC, JW, and Indy have all been guilty of this, and it’s sad to add SW to that list -

Not including Pleakley and Jumba would be such a missed opportunity. I mean, where and when else would they ever show up in a set? -

Where’s this moral discussion coming from all of a sudden? I don’t remember any outcry when a certain other show’s main character shot an unarmed man begging for his life in the face - without flinching or showing any remorse - and coldly executed another who might have just tested him with a tempting offer A replica of Qimir’s helmet seemingly had an impressive number of pre-orders, so there could be demand for Acolyte sets. Gimme the Exile II with all the lead characters and I’m satisfied -

I know people have become rather cynical in this thread, but there’s no way we won’t get at least 3 sets based on F4 They’re arguably the most famous Marvel characters that have never gotten the LEGO treatment before outside of the games, so I see no reason for TLG not to commit. I think a bigfig would make sense for the Thing. The games showed how well that works! -

D23 is Disney’s own event, so it only makes sense they save a lot of announcements and reveals for that
