The E-Tron GTR is rumored to be the electric successor of the R8, although there are no real news about it since 2019. An electric car would give the designers a chance to come up with something new from a Technic feature perspective, replicating the whole internal mechanism of the Sián once again with a different shell would be pretty boring.

42130 - BMW M1000RR K66
kbalage replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm not sure what happened on his build, but for me the stepper worked super reliably. I really wanted to make it jam, believe me, tortured it for a while to catch any failure on video and had zero issues. Worth to mention that I also did it while I was driving the gears with a motor, so it was not the simple "spinning the wheel with my hand" level of stress on the parts. -
[REVIEW] 42130 - BMW M1000RR K66

It is slightly off-topic here, but they are in a reverse order on the Defender as well, you can see it here. I'm sure it was the same case in every supercar with a gearbox, except they did not have any indicators what is shifting up and down. The Defender has a sticker for the gears and the hi/lo selector as well. I could not have this confirmed by any of the designers, but my theory is simple: this is a reverse logic made for kids and it should be some management decision, I'm sure Technic designers know exactly how gearboxes and engines work. Why shifting up? -> I want to go faster! -> Since only the engine moves then that should move faster to indicate "more speed" And it's a shame since this could be a nice educational tool to teach about the relation between wheel speed and engine speed in different gears, but it is sacrificed for the show. -
[REVIEW] 42130 - BMW M1000RR K66

Very nice detailed review @Milan, congrats! It's great to read details about the set from a biker who understands all the things going on, I had to rely on other's knowledge myself About the gearbox, I think neutral is actually meant to be between the 1st and the 2nd gears, as the set seems to stick to TLG's reversed concept of "gears" when a higher gear means the engine runs faster... This was the case with the sets in the previous years, I don't think they suddenly changed it :) -

Here's my detailed building review of the set: -
No worries :) That ID might label a new color / element combination, 4274 was never available officially in red in a set, there are a few red ones sold on Bricklink but I guess those are the usual red test samples.

Well it depends on the level of friction you expect. 4274 might have slightly more friction than 32002, but definitely not "standard" friction pin level like 2780. To hold those teeth properly we'd need a half pin with ridges preventing a possible rotation.

@blondasek I had no issues with BC2, the last update was some time ago so I assume most of my hubs have the latest firmware. I'm pretty busy with reviews now but I'll check sometimes next week. Did you try to force a re-update of your firmware to check with BC2, or did you get a chance to test with multiple hubs?

@Void_S you don't need to speculate, the product page clearly says it has 2 motors: Pull-back function – With 2 pull-back motors, controlling this cool car toy is easy. Just pull back and then release to send your car speeding along

Lol, that's nice to hear, especially considering the complaints I receive from my fellow countrymen for my "very audible" Hungarian accent :) -

Woah it's a topic I really did not expect to appear, thank you very much guys for the nice words! I'm really glad you enjoy the content, hope I won't disappoint you in the future either :) -
Buggy Motors with Powered Up
kbalage replied to whitepen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I did a quick test with two original LEGO RC buggy motors and IKEA LADDA rechargeable batteries in the battery boxes. Unloaded speed on faster output: PF AA battery box - 1400 RPM PU AA battery box - 1400 RPM BuWizz 3.0 Pro - 2300 RPM I don't have anything built at hand at the moment, so I simply attached a Power Puller wheel to the faster output of the buggy motor and tested how it spins up, and what happens if I fully reverse the output of the battery box / hub, which produces a very violent load considering the weight and momentum of the spinning wheel. With a single motor / wheel attached the PF battery box and the PU hub behaved similarly, they could take 5+ direction switches without slowing down. BuWizz handled it also without a problem, and the speed was proportionally faster. With 2 motors / wheels attached the PF battery box did shut down after 2 switches. The PU hub practically stopped after a single switch, so there seems to be a protection there that is more sensitive than the one in the PF battery box, but the difference is not that significant I think. The BuWizz 3.0 Pro was pretty impressive, with the 2 buggy motors attached to one of the PF outputs it handled 5 direction switches without any apparent issue, I did not do more as I did not want to damage anything. So based on this I'd say using a PU hub will have some disadvantage under heavy load compared to a PF battery box if you use more than 1 buggy motor, but not a huge difference. With a single motor it's probably not even noticeable. But if you want to use the full potential of the buggy motors then BuWizz is the obvious way to go. *Edit - to make a PU -> PF adapter the cheapest way to go is to sacrifice a PU light and a PF extension cable, here's how it works.- 17 replies

Buggy Motors with Powered Up
kbalage replied to whitepen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You won't be able to use the full potential of the buggy motor, power will be cut at moderate load already. If you want to mix PU with buggy motors then BuWizz 3 is the best way to go.- 17 replies

Well, that's not the only variant Mattel made, and the other one looks just like the Technic version. So which is the "proper one" then? :) It's not that simple unfortunately, those tires a waaaay too narrow to look good on the set, I tested them in the video below. I think at this point we have no real proof how the Batmobile in the movie should look like, but more about this controversy here:
