I know that as for Avalonia, the Enchanted Forest, i.e. the big island in the west, should not be divided by rivers into almost separate islands, but instead look something like this: Enchanted Forest by Benjamin Stenlund, on Flickr Sorry about the quality, but I was stuck using MS Paint, not the most sophisticated of tools...

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Henjin_Quilones replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I live in an area that is very hilly (the eastern Blue Ridge Mountains in the US) and covered entirely with forests, so in my mind hills are often forested. And rivers flow through the forest with no break in the trees save the water, at least here. That is more how I imagine it. I'll see how you describe your land, and then I'll get a map and description of my own up that will hopefully not be contradictory... -

Thanks, ixypixy! I would love to hear your thoughts on what the terrain near our shared border looks like. I was thinking high jumbled hills, like low mountains almost (not the snow-covered kind), covered entirely in trees with rivers and streams flowing through the many valleys down to the coast. I too hope to have something posted this weekend if I can get the story written, but the official tasks are on hold until I get my regular bricks back (only three weeks away!). I have been making do with a few new sets picked up here and there while I wait, just enough for something small. -
The Exetrius Saga (7): Taking the Runestone

A nice use of perspective to make things seem larger than they are. Nicely done, and a good story, too. -

In addition to what others have said, I appreciate two things about your build. First, your doors look very good, using the One Ring as a knob, and the decorative arches around them. Two, it made me smile to realize that only a dwarf can operate the forge, because the roof is too low for a minifigure of full height to stand beneath it near the anvil. Dwalin has it all to himself! -
It is a very nice, smaller-scale beastie, rather than the large dragons that seem to be more popular (I know I like the big flyers myself). The bright colors look great and I like the use of the flipper for the face. It has a great amount of detail for its scale. And anything inspired by HTTYD is good, too. Well done! Now just add some wings, and a Lego Hiccup or Astrid, and let's fly!

Nicely done. It would be cool if the picture with the Weaver had a glow of light around her staff to show it shining in the darkness, but I understand how difficult that would be. Otherwise, great mausoleum and catacombs. I love the skeleton on its bed.

Seriously! And too many bricks packed away. -
A very clever way of putting together a waterfall! I like it.

I love the way you do stone walls, with such rich texture. The small details really complete the model, though, like the stonework on the arch above the harbormaster's door and the cloakrack in his office. Great work!

I would like to introduce not my ultimate sigfig, as he is still in storage, but one of my major sidefigs, or perhaps sidekickfigs, who plays a major role in my story and will make frequent appearances. In fact, the story begins with her. Galaria is a princess of the ruling family of Lotharia, the capital city of the elvish realm of Hesperia. Galaria had no taste for the royal court life, and instead chose to become an elvish ranger, learning woodcraft and the use of many weapons. She prefers the horse bow and short sword, as they allow her to move unencumbered through the dense undergrowth and to fight effectively from wolfback, as she tamed a giant wolf of the forest to serve as her mount. It was while she was on patrol one day that she saw a giant fireball descend from the sky and traced it to its landing point, and that is where my story begins. Sorry about the poorish quality of the pic; it was a cloudy day here, but I did not want to wait another day. I edited it a bit to make it seem more like she was in a dense mist in the deep of the woods, perhaps. Better pictures will follow at some point. -
I really like your tree. It has a well-built trunk, and the foliage is nice and dense. The photos are a little blurry, though, so perhaps taking the pictures in better light might help. I've heard that natural outdoor light is the best for Legos.

Thanks! That is very useful.

The way you do snow! I am in love with it. It looks wind-sculpted and drifted, not a fresh snow but one that has had time to settle a bit, with a light, fresh dusting on top to fill in some gaps and deep-set drifts. Beautiful, recalling me of my days growing up in Minnesota, USA.- 34 replies

I made sure to include Drond's Feelds for you, Titus. -
This is, without exaggeration, one of the finest examples of Lego building I have ever seen. The composition of the scene, the construction of the castle, the colors of the foliage, all work together to create something masterful. It has taken me two-thirds of a month to comment on it, since it left me too speechless to say anything before now. Well done!

It captures a very ethereal, underworld-y feel. Beautiful! And great use of a dino.

I did not even notice the detailing in the short wall surrounding the upper level walkway and balcony patio. Are those bricks the sheep legs from the Minecraft sets? Or do they come in other sets, too? It looks fantastic, and adds a great texture to the build as a whole.

I have taken the liberty, having a few spare moments in the past few days, as I wait until I get my bricks back from the storage unit (less than a month!), to look back to the last update of the guild map for every territorial claim made in that time and add them to the map. If I have missed anyone, I apologize and assure you it was not intentional. Also, I am not sure how many of these claims are active, as many of them seemed to be a sigfig pic and map, and nothing more. Not that I can really complain, seeing how I have not even posted a sigfig yet, and am still operating under the 'unofficial member' status as a result. I hope no one will be upset that I added my own little land on the map, Hesperia, on the coast in the northwest of the Enchanted Forest. I do not mean to step on any toes or usurp any prerogatives from the guild leaders, like Rogue Angel or de Gothia, in posting this map. But I think that it could ease any potential new member's concern to see the updated map. And, additionally, it could ease Rogue's task in the near future as he updates the map officially. Every new territory is yellowish in color. Alright, that's that. I hope to get something posted soon, as I have been buying more Lego bricks as I wait to get my old ones back, and so can post at least a small freebuild, and a less-significant sigfig (more like a sidefig...) to introduce my story. -
The Elemendi-Chapter 2-A Meeting in the Shadows

Great pub! You created a good atmosphere for the place, with the curios hanging on the walls and dangling down from the rafters, plus a wide selection of beverages. It looks like a great place to sit down with some friends for a pint and regale each other with adventure stories. (Or meet for an important plot developing moment.) I like your style. -
I love the colorful stripes on the white walls; they really pop out and give a great deal of character to the build. And your stonework is excellent, too.

I like how the plate/bowl piece makes such a great flagpole base. Never would have thought of that!
