  1. Thanks! They should be coming soon(ish). I'm nearly to the end of my long, brick-less wait this summer. My first few builds for the story will not be particularly elvish, but then there will be a bunch laying out one of my settlements in some detail. And thank you for the kind words, everyone!
  2. But we could have techno castles and mechanical horses, and glowing vibro-lances, right? Who wouldn't want that, a thundering charge of rocket-powered Nexo-Flight-of-Dragons cavalry across the plains of Avalonia, or titan mech-walkers scaling the peaks of Mitgardia like the gods of old, or an oasis full of sassy hologram wizards in the deserts of Kaliphlin? Exciting stuff! Right? Right? Guys?
  3. Except the lava bad guys. I love those and am building up a small army of them, possibly to attack my lands in Avalonia. But the sets themselves, and the good guys, are less than excellent, being neither good space stuff nor good castle stuff.
  4. Some day my bricks will come...

  5. That's a great looking tree! I also like the detail that you have put into the bank.
  6. I'm no expert myself (especially being Avalonian), but I think the answer to the first is largely what Titus said, though I think it would depend on how steampunk-ish you go, especially being in Nocturnus. I could imagine a warlock rising with some sort of fire-breathing machine out of a swamp, powered by dark magic or soul crystals, or something like that, but you do have to keep in mind that these are medieval-era fantasy guilds. Steampunk is generally, to my knowledge, a 19th-century (the heyday of steam locomotives) based fantasy genre. A kooky medieval inventor could make a da Vinci-esque flying machine, or a glider, perhaps, but probably not a whole zeppelin-style airship. As for your second question, I have no idea. I have never seen anyone else with anything but a minifig main character, but I suppose it could be possible to have a brick-built one. The main thing to keep in mind, if it is possible, would be that it would have to be able to interact with minifigs and be compatible with them. But really I do not know. One of the forum moderators or regulators would have to make the final call there, as Titus mentioned in his post. But welcome!
  7. This is a great looking build, SK! I love the stone floor, it was one of the first details that really caught my eye. I think I might have to steal that for a build of my own down the line. I also love that you made the stairs and ladders connect all the floors, so that the inhabitants can make it to their bedrooms. Very nice use of barrels, too, and, as usual, excellent cobblestones. The distinctive Mitgardian feel comes through strongly in this build.
  8. Good work team! Very nice builds.
  9. A very lively, very Avalonian scene. I particularly like the use of the ball joints on the roofs; it is practical and creates a sense of detail. The firewood cart is also quite nice. My favorite element of it is probably the little wall around the tree built of small stones; you did a great job with curving that. Some more texture to the ground, either cobblestones or just some more layers of dirt, might have made it a bit more eye-catching. Nonetheless, I think it looks great.
  10. Very nice! Your figure is appropriately sinister and intimidating, and the base is great as well. I love the detail on the stonework, and the red tiles make it seem like he is descending into a pool of his victims' blood. Where is that torso/leg combo from that you used for the fig? It looks great.
  11. If Kaliphlin is blue colored on the map, and Nocturnus is red, it could be a disputed territory "purple zone".
  12. The orcs were going to live somewhere, I just did not quite know where to put them. They are now on the eastern frontier due to the proximity to your orcs; you simply gave me a reason to put them there as opposed to somewhere else. The elves in my realm will certainly be battling them, when the orcs decide to rise up out of the prolonged period of peace that has been the order of the day in Hesperia. There are lots of moving pieces (it's a brick pun) in my story, involving orcs, elves, dwarves, humans, and lava creatures from a volcano rising in the sea off the coast. Maybe more, too, but I have not yet discovered them. I just need my bricks back. And when the day of battle comes, Hesperia would be proud to fight beside the elves of Faer-o-dur.
  13. Thanks! I like trees, one of the reasons I chose the Enchanted Forest region and Avalonia. Hopefully I can get another up in the next month or so. I should be getting my full contingent of bricks back in a week, and I am excited about the building possibilities that will present for my story.
  14. I like your fig posing, especially the Uruk-hai. And it's a nice base.
  15. Has anyone else seen pictures of the upcoming CMF series 16? I for one am particularly excited for the Rogue figure, he would be perfect for a wolfrider, or for anyone who has a wolf-based army unit (Wolf Pack or otherwise). There is a Arabain knight for the Kaliphlin folks, an ice queen for the Mitgardians (though she looks a bit Algus-y), and a vampire-ish goth and a winged red demon trick-or-treater for the Nocturnians to play around with. They are rumored to be out in September, but over on BrickSet they are saying that folks have been seeing them out already, as TLG apparently wants to be emphasizing the Disney CMF line alongside the Disney Cinderella's/DisneyWorld Castle launch. Someone has posted pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/b3YxM, if you want to take a look. I'm hoping to get a decent number of those Rogues when I see them out in my area stores.
  16. The fact that this is what you can do with too few parts and too little time speaks volumes about your skills as a builder, SK. I am very impressed. I really like the stone stairway down into the dining room, as well as the roof on the wooden corner tower. Your walls are, as usual, excellent, with great buttresses and decorative overhang. I do not love the cupola/little wooden room on top of the keep, however, as the alternation between 1x1 cylinders and 2x2 cylinders makes the corners seem unnecessarily busy. Perhaps going with one or the other, but not both, would have improved that (I think 2x2 would be better, but maybe those were parts you did not have at the moment). That is a minor point, however, in what is overall a very impressive build.
  17. Gables are the triangular end areas on a roof, more typically referring to the smaller roof-ends that come off of the main roof (for a bedroom window, maybe, or attic ventilation), but I used it to refer to the triangular stone areas on the ends of the building here for lack of a better term at hand. Google defines it as "the part of a wall that encloses the end of a pitched roof", if that helps. And the weapon racks look to be this part (http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30663&idColor=11#T=C&C=11)on top of two 1x1 round cylinders.
  18. I agree. I'm just not sure that Mitgardians facing the threat of Algus would take the time to think of how to make their wall pretty. I'd like them to, but I don't think they would. Some sort of paneling might have worked, perhaps, but I think I kind of like how it looks now. It has a sort of simple elegance.
  19. He does say that it was finished just the week before, however, in the story. I agree that vines or something would make it look better from an aesthetic perspective, but from a narrative perspective, I don't know of any vines that would cover a log castle in a single week (outside of the swampy jungles of Nocturnus, that is, or maybe somewhere in the Enchanted Forest of Avalonia). It is not particularly fancy, nor decorated really (besides a few shields) but it was built in haste against the onslaught of the Algus. I think it expresses the tension between a build that tells a good story and a build that is beautiful in its own right.
  20. I, for one, am quite jealous. Know of anyone else with deals like that?
  21. This is great! I've been following your story and am glad to have another piece of it. I have to admit, I was not entirely sold on your dragon when I saw it the first time, but it looks much better in the poses in these pictures. I only wish that it had sharp, pointy claws. As for the building, I think it looks just like a wooden palisade in the north ought to look, with tall walls and a thatched roof. Perhaps my favorite part, besides the spinner-top door (which I think you have used before to good effect, unless I am confusing your builds with someone else's--either way it looks good) is the brazier/fire pit in the courtyard. It is a good use of those pieces and very nice looking. The stuffed bear in the corner is a nice touch, too. I'd say that I'd like more interior detailing, but it is (as you clearly explain) a just-finished defensive fort, not a palace or anything homey and nice.
  22. Wow, there's a lot here to like, I have to say. The roof looks great, even though it is just slope pieces, because of the staggering that you did. Fantastic. I love the white antennae/levers used as snow-covered grasses. The boy carrying his water pails is good, too. The well is, er, well-done, and you did an excellent job of conveying the idea of an icy cobblestone courtyard. There are three things that stood out to me that I thought could use some improvement, too. First, the roof gables seemed incomplete due to the studs showing; I know some are, some aren't, but it makes it look a bit haphazard. If there were some snow built up on them, or if they were all tiles, I think that would look better. Second, before I saw the topic title (I first saw the picture on the Kaliphlin thread) I thought it was a church, with a stained glass bell-tower/steeple, and the flags and crossed-swords looked a bit like stained glass, too. This is not necessarily a problem, I suppose, and it would not be an easy fix, but it was a bit confusing. Third, I am not sure I like how the two browns of the tower look together; they are too similar, I think, for my liking, and my eye would prefer a greater contrast. All in all, though, I think this is a great build, and I am sure it will look even better when it is put alongside the rest of the Nordheim builds. The character posing, the interior, the rockwork around the door, all look good. You do a pretty cool winter scene.
  23. I love that bat-man! I think the answer to the side question is yes all around. Rogue will update the information at some point, once he finds a modicum of time in his busy 2-kids-and-a-house-and-a-full-time-job world. From my inspection, it seems that the page was last updated comprehensively last August, so perhaps some time in the next month it might happen again. In the meantime, I put together the updated map so that people would experience less confusion going forward, and hopefully to provide some help to Rogue when he does get around to the official update.
