  1. That is a very clever idea I had thought of something similar, but it involved extending the actual chain so that the buckets would face down Can't wait to see it in motion
  2. It's coming along pretty well, it has a pretty good digging angle. The rest of the excavator should be fairly easy to assemble if you build it from 42055
  3. Looks pretty sturdy and reasonably smooth I have a couple of questions though (which you might have answered before, I didn't bother to look, sorry) 1. Will the conveyor belt be longer? I remember reading something about 35cm but have you managed to aquire more track links? 2. How will the unloading system work? I can see that the conveyor belt leans upwards but do the contents of the buckets fall onto another conveyor or do they drop directly into a mining truck for instance? In the image you posted above it isn't clear and I couldn't find an answer from what I've searchched. (I'm assuming you'll base your creation on the TAKRAF ERs 500)
  4. Looking good Doug! I don't like modifying LEGO parts but if that's the only solution, go for it
  5. This is a great idea for a subforum, all those beautifull models deserve to be together. I know this is a new project and that it's still work in progress, but I have one sugestion: in the Scale Modeling Index, you could try to group the creations by type (e.g. Trucks, Boats, Tanks, Trains, etc.). That would make it a lot easier for us users to navigate the forum given the amount of amazing MOCs that are already in this forum and with many more to come, I hope! Sorry for overloading the managers Keep up the great work!
  6. Looking good Doug! Have you settled on which type of BCE you'll build?
  7. I've seen this pictures before and perhaps I didn't explain myself properly What I ment to say is that in your pictures (and in any other examples I have found) the buckets dig forward on the upper conveyor belt and then return on the lower conveyor belt. You simple change the pitch of the conveyors in order to go up or down the hill, but their relation to the main machine (don't really know how to call it) is always the same. The problem Doug mentions in emptying the bucket remains as the buckets would have to make an upwards turn inside the main machine. Not sure if made it clearer or more confusing The only example I have found in which the buckets dig down the slope is on a dredge excavator as in this picture
  8. It seems that there aren't any that excavate down the slope. I guess that is so because it would be harder to fill the buckets. I'll see if I can find something
  9. Hi Doug How about making something like this Faller Bucket Chain Excavator? I know it's a bit simple to build and runs on tracks but there must be a "road version" of it and it may be a solution for you if you don't want to buy more chains Or perhaps a smaller version of this Guntert & Zimmerman Canal Trimmer? I'm not sure if it qualifies as a BCE though Hope I could help!
  10. Simply amazing and so so beautiful to watch! I too would like to see the gear setup
  11. There is one used 8466 selling near me, including box and instructions, for 120€ negotiable
  12. From my (limited) experience using stud.io I can say it is as intuitive as LDD. It even has in-built rendering software (POV ray I believe). I haven't tried to create instructions with it though. Also, as @Didumos69 said, you can use Bluerender to make renders and Blueprint to create instructions both directly from LDD files
  13. Thanks Actually the drums are the parts I like the least and already have some ideas to improve them, but I'll leave it for later Thank you I agree with you but sadly I ran out of panels
  14. Hello everybody! I’m an avid reader of eurobricks, visiting this marvellous website at least daily, but I’ve never had the balls to post any of my MOCs. Well, this time it’s different. I present to you my latest MOC, a set TLG should have made a long time ago. It’s a road roller! The only function it has is steering plus a fake V6 engine driving both the front and rear drum. More pictures can be found at my bricksafe and rebrickable accounts. For those interested, here is the LDD file. The interior is a bit basic, but I’ll leave it be for now, focus on university and other MOCs. But I may return to it and improve it in the future (I have a few ideas already). Suggestions, tips and comments in general are welcome! There is always room for improvement
  15. Sadly guys, it turns out both sets were fake. They were both fake Lepin sets imported from China, that's why the advert only showed the polybags with pieces inside. Luckily I asked for pictures and was able to compare them to online reviews of both the original and fake sets. So I didn't spend any money, only a few hours of my time. But thanks for all the help anyway!
  16. 16z are a nice idea and the 3 available colours make them easy to use
  17. I was actually referring to buying the missing parts
  18. Thanks for the heads up! I didn't know that That's a very good plan, thanks
  19. Thanks everyone! 8043 it is then. I didn’t know that it was that good but now I can’t wait to assemble it and find out
  20. Hi guys! I’m not sure this is the right place to post but here it goes. I’ve recently been offered the opportunity to buy either 42009 for 150€ or 8043 for 175€, both in their original polybags. I’ve missed these two sets because of my dark age. I’m not really into RC sets, 8043 would be my first one. But on the other hand it’s such a great and awesome set. But I also love cranes and 42009 is a must-have on my wishlist. I should mention that I already have 8421, 8053, 8294 and 42053 in my collection. Which set do you guys think I should get? Thanks in advance and a great 2017 to everyone!
  21. Simply awesome, like the toll road was!
  22. Thanks guys! Hopefully I can post some of my creations here as soon as I finish university exams
