Lego ideas is gaged to see what the consumer might really buy, i remember they did this for ghostbusters, the original Cusoo ghostbusters inspired a ton of ghostbusters HQ ideas that did the same goal and Lego cancelled them, next thing you know Lego releases the Ghostbusters HQ LOL. I’m sure we can expect the same for another pirates wave especially since they are taking those Pirates inspired ideas down.

I agree, Lego biggest problem is really itself. There's too much existing lines to choose from, if they were to narrow it down just to the classics i'm sure the younger generation would follow, They did heavily push for The Lego Movie merch!!! When this past covid 19 filled christmas swept local retailers you could tell the "police" city sets took a hit since it was really the only set no one wanted to buy for their kids amongst all the previous tensions, but seen their yearly report of 2020 I'm glad they made a come back, while I don't miss the days of the nearly 85% being out of stock, you could tell people went back to the basics haha I think everyone took the interview out of proportion, he's just one designer that does not reflect the entire company's intention, while it's nice he can talk about it, I can honestly feel at least a couple of more castle sets in the future, hell, the previous poll they did a while ago clearly proved it was popular, the fact that AFOL and the adult collectors and casual buyers just means that we will get the "good" HUGGEEE Castle sets I hope, Medieval Workshop clearly proved this!!! Lego Castles and pirates are the only lines where now I would buy the entire line up day 1, even all accessories and battle packs without second guessing myself, it's nostalgic, Now i'm looking to buy or bricklink older sets to make them more "modular" I guess, but without a doubt I certainly wish they would release more. Pirates of Barracuda gave me hope that if they can revisit and update a classic from the pirates era, they certainly can do it with a castle, village or imperial armada! I don't think the future is all doom and gloom, we know they can pull something that will wow us but I just think we are impatient and want something more concrete like waves when in reality they could do an IDEAS set in between and randomly do it whenever they want

Lego knows what they are doing. Granted like he mentioned the cornerstone of Lego was castle, it's sad to say that historical themed sets are not the future of the company and they know it. Kids don't want pirates or castles. You can walk into any retailer and still find a Creator 3 in 1 pirate set laying around, meaning that if it was hot it would sell like pancakes but it's not the case. I learned to cope with this, but Pirates of barracuda bay was a nice welcome to the old line, I just bought Medieval Blacksmith and haven't sat down to build it but with that said my only dislike of the 3 in 1 sets is the fact that everything is brick. That kind of hints at me that lego is not really trying to even produce or keep original pieces for their sets and i don't know how i feel about that. I made the mistake of not buying any castles sets from 2013 because i was going through a rough time back then but would love to see if Lego at least gave us another chance to buy them at retail. I LOVED the way lego was headed with their 2015 pirates line combining smaller sets into bigger modular ones, would have love to see what would came out of another wave but we got nothing therefore telling you how popular they weren't. My kids would rather grab a minecraft set or super mario set over anything done pirates or castle themed I have laying around, Lego knows this, hence why they would rather focus on one set at a time like IDEAS or Creator and it makes sense.

Kingdoms would fit perfectly with your 7094 mod, but the harry potter classrooms would put it over the top! -
To be honest, I grew up near Portobelo Panama, you guys might not think Pirates and Castles don't go together but colonial spain had all these spanish "forts" with pirates attacking them and destroying/blowing up spanish castles. With that said though it might not use accurate or historical sets but usually the "crown" be somewhere in europe is giving orders to the local villagers or be the ultimate chain of command for the good guys and the pirates being the ones who ransack and destroy everything IMHO they go hand in hand. I guess when you walk around destroyed cannons with moats and ammo houses surrounding a bay with a castle in the background, whenever i was introduced to the pirate sets in the mid 1990's i was mind blown, but in my mind if there's a king ruling over his castle i'm sure he had his imperial ships conquering the world or region around somewhere hehe

Playing with fire mate, with lego once they retire a set all the scalpers and you will try to get one, but when that happens 9/10 it sells on amazon/target/ or barnes and nobles afterwards, were their rewards program is more forgiving than the lego one at the moment except for amazon.

Can you combine Creator Pirate 31109 and 21322 Barracuda Bay
eldiano replied to natesroom's topic in LEGO Pirates
I was eyeing the 31109 for the longest time but getting my legoland annual membership with the 10% discount made me close the deal on this set finally, I get the creator series is all brick but has anyone tried to combine the regular pieces of a pirate ship with this set? I'm curious how it would look like just as normal pirate ship with cloth sails, hull and animals. I am about to seriously see if I can do it, but just curious if anyone has tried this before. I bought this set since it can be a pirate cave or a tavern, the tavern is what sold it for me since it's one of the few full sized pirate buildings in a long time IMHo. -
The starter set is on backorder at the US shop lego website.

My biggest pet peeve is the way the app forces you to use as a manual, i used the lego life app before but it’s way easier there, I don't like the videos and the manual page flipping
-
I keep all boxes, heck even used open boxes sell for a good penny!Never throw them away, you never know...
-
Not a real fan of using the app to build the set, I mean Lego Life does it different but I had a hard time building the starter set from scratch to say the list, very weird and a bit cumbersome to say the least!

Currently in stock at Shop Lego, had my walmart order delivered, currently the Lego order is being processed!! Cheers! Hope you guys enjoy this set! -
They better hahaha I already have been waiting 3 months to get my barracuda set, next thing you know they understand that pirates are on demand, Here’s hoping they expand more on the modular designs of the 2015 pirates line, I like how you can build up to larger sets and hoping that the admiral gets his revenge and the armada gets some fortress play sets in to say the least haha

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
eldiano replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
It really isn’t it, when I backordered this piece the website was giving me est shipping by the end of July, now it’s all over the place, believe it or not I saw news of this being sold at walmart.com and make no mistake got a chance to buy one and next thing you know it’s shipped already with a shipment date of tomorrow. WTH Lego, they can’t be that swamped, talk about super fast shipping on Walmart’s end! I kept my preorder for lego open just to see what comes out of it but I see no movement on their end to be honest. -
They can sell you different cartridges and different backgrounds worth in lego haha i can see some people using the nes shell for their raspberry pi setup though

eldiano replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
I wish i could buy at least ONE Pirate Bay set to say the least, but no luck. Ever since they sold out in may, they have been that way since then and just when the stores opened in my city, they closed up them last week. Looks like they are prioritizing other sets than this one TBH. Bricklink pricing is 500 bucks already and so is ebay... I don’t even know how lego keeps releasing new sets ?? -

Meanwhile three weeks later and I get my pick a brick order! so far you can build all the pirates for wayyy less the asking price than auction sites(100 bucks for the whole set on ebay) close to 20 bucks for all on shop lego. Certain parts are sold out for barracuda bay but i have been stocking up on cannons as you can see i got 8 cannons, and of course a miscalculated port and starboard figures hahaha i made a second order!! i just love ordering pirate pieces... Can’t wait for the set to be available though!! https://imgur.com/a/5Uex3kD -
Depending on where you live, you can head to a michaels or hobby lobby and buy those 12’ long wallpapers for backgrounds, I did it for my Xmas villages and boy do they make a difference!!! They have different ones of course like starry night, or sunny skies. At night time though with the lights off it sticks out!!! Trust me those backgrounds are a life SAVER!!!

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
eldiano replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
Wish i could buy this, since it’s still sold out in the lego.com and retail stores and with COVID who knows when I’ll be able to, oh well i can patiently wait and I’m not paying scalping prices either ??? -
So will anyone try to swap out the sails for fabric? I want this set, but at the same thing I feel that I will only buy it not as a pirate ship combo but for the pirate lodge/housing, the ship kind of feels off with everything being in brick form but at the same time it feels like a 100% lego brick ship with no pre made parts... huh, I’m split on this one, i feel that with the right mods, it’s possible to tweak this ship something more conform with the brick bounty and the barracuda bay set!!! My goal would be of course the sails, the mast, maybe adding a door and finally the wheel IMHO
