Growing up I had a dad that would buy me anything I wanted and a mom who always said no to toys, grew up with split parents btw, thing is I was scared because of my mom to ask my dad so the only lego pirate toys I got were the $3.99 sets, the very first one I remember ever getting was the 1481 Pirates Desert Island, https://brickset.com/sets/1481-1/Pirates-Desert-Island I will never forget those beautiful treasured gold coins, ever since then I always wanted more coins for my sets hahaha. Even then I only had sets like that shripwrecked pirate, cheap sets, from 3.99 to 19.99 on average, the most expensive set I had at the time was the black seas barracuda which my dad purchased me for Christmas ‘94 from what I remember.

Fantastic Ships! The pirates never stood a chance!

I hate brick sails, but that’s just me, cloth sails in my opinion made me think of a time when i was kid where i used fans to propel ships in the tub, brick sails would sit there haha. The creator 31109 is the closest thing we will ever get to a pirate gunboat than this idea sailboat to be honest. I hate creator sets, in my opinion i don’t have the room to dump all the bricks to create all the variants haha but still. Here’s a tiny mod of what could had been an amazing set if they do decide to focus on future sets hehe Maybe we could have gotten a dedicated styled pub called “Captain’s Inn” hehe

Damn, i am still missing an order from May 24 and all that Lego has done is give me 500 VIP points and not even bother to look into. It was the only one I really wanted to build and that was currently holding me back for a current MOC that I already forgot what I originally wanted to do but oh well, it is what is. Haha -

[MOD] 31109 Creator 3 in 1 Pirate Ship different Sail Mod
eldiano replied to eldiano's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thank you mate!!! That is correct the pre fab hulls are 2 studs wider, I have like 10 of them I bought just for this but I gave up ultimately realizing I would need to expand the ship and everything else in between and left it as is, plus some ninjago and other lego pirate themed ships look good. I ended up liking the size of this ship giving more a mini Caribbean clipper sized pirate attack ship haha I am thinking of posible removing the rear sail just to see what it would look like!! Thank you so much! I never realized the amount of work Lego tried by making their pirate hulls all brick builds and I agree you do lose the concept of this ship but at the same time. I thought I was on a mission to simplify the design but ended up giving up halfway through because I realized it would had ran me more money!!! When I first bought this ship I wanted it for the pirate tavern, even ended up buying was a prefab horse and wagon made cart similar to the mill village raid but I noticed a few things that just irked me a bit to say the least in regards to the ship and you are correct I wanted to stay close to the original design and not make it bigger simply to keep it in the original LEGO aspect, I wanted to double the masts to the standard 4, and extend the hull by one to make it a nice ship but it would look like another Brick Bounty, I noticed a lot of similarities between the two, the design of the rails, the cabin, the colors and the aft castle. This creator ship is weird to be honest, it has more bricks than the brick bounty but it’s a smaller ship haha, The Brick sails still don’t make sense to me because it doesn’t fit the ship. At the end of the day it is doing something nice with this ship, I just stuck with the sails at least and just some minor rails to make it more Minifigure friendly and not lego mini sized statue hahaha. Funnily enough despite buying this for the tavern as of yet I haven’t managed to build it BUT I have all these extra interior pirate themed furniture ready to have a good time if need be!!! I didn’t ‘t know how to use wanted lists, but I learned real quick, i thought I had to manually buy each piece and that’s why I gave up halfway, then I realized you can buy everything under a wanted list and create carts from stores all over bricklink that will simplify everything into minimal hassles haha. I am very familiar with your MOC!!! Believe me I was studying and researching every single 31109 MOD in the forum to see if sails was doable, I love yours, it makes a full sized ship that even holds it’s own weight with the Blackseas barracuda!! -
I’ve been waiting to finish this project ever since April of this year! I went through a locally owned pop and mom shop in my town to order the bricks and pieces required for this ship, I wasn’t used to ordering stand alone bricks for mods online, but they quoted me $268usd for everything and I agreed. A month later and nothing so I let it go, they also quoted me $400 for the bricks required on my imperial fort on this sub channel here that same day, so overnight I self taught myself how to navigate bricklink and shop.lego.com’s brick and pieces services! Long story short I saved a monumental amount of cash on this project haha I wish this set had some pre fab pieces, the hardest part for me was thinking I could change the hull to prefab but it’s a stud wider on all sides, so I stuck with just the sails from the 70413 The brick bounty and low key did some mods I saw on the 21322!! I like the small size of the ship, but what threw me off was the overall rail heights among other minor things, it looks different for sure but I somewhat love it, do the sails fit the ship or naw? Hehe I’m no pirate ship master but I think it will still help them smuggle gold across the Caribbean! Here’s a Wide angle shot of the front! I wanted to see it with sails but I will admit some of them look monstrous haha Re did the rails and raised the back The black seas barracuda and the brick bounty helped me with the front, i wanted a brown mast but it was sold out and expensive on brick link, so I was stuck with black Finding the Sand Yellow grate was kind of hard! Inside the Captain’s Quarters, I’ll admit the door is freaking bigger than I expect, I have extra bricks laying around to do ladder but heck, some older pirate ships don’t have that luxury haha I

Oh the Apple thing is something I realized by accident. I alternate between Paypal and Apple Pay but I did notice a pattern whenever I got 3 emails on 3 different orders about how I needed an alternate method of payment for the 3 B&P's orders using Apple Pay, then not even kidding a day or two I received those orders by mail, so what ended up happening was that I paid for the order once but I got 2 orders of the same thing, because then once the payment went through it creates another order number in their system duplicating the first order. This never happened with my paypal orders at all but on the third time I talked to the Lego service rep and they told me that Apple Pay's Authorization expires by the time the B&P ship from the Lego Warehouse. It wasn't cheating the system but I was surprised when I kept receiving a couple of duplicate orders, granted it wasn't that many bricks but still and this was a couple of months ago. As of June now I can see that Lego finally managed to do something about this by literally marking the items as shipped within 1-2 business days and still have them take 10-15 business days to get to you. I have an order from Pick a Brick that just reached 30 days of not getting here and the Lego rep told me they are having problems with Customs at the time, I am still missing 4 orders from late May and early June, the agent re assured me it will be here in 2 days but I don't think that will happen. -
I was scared I was placing a window frame 1x2x2 while building a castle and just heard cracking and breaking like it was trying to fit in and next thing you know a whole section was gone and I just sit there looking at it wondering if it's strong enough to stand in place while I place other bricks on top lol. I'm scared to dig up my pirates sets at this rate. By the way they are out of the Torsos/Legs, Swords and Shields for Black Falcon parts on Bricks and Pieces. They have everything else including the horse!
-
I tried placing a broken brick order but that sent off a red flag to lego by saying it didn't pass their "pre" validation tests lololol. i'm pissed now because some brown pieces are sold out and they are broken, I'm hoping they are improved and with their announcement they made today about their new brick made out of recyclable parts I literally thought, but does it last longer than a reddish brown brick? lol
-
Did you end up re ordering them?
-
Has anyone had problems with Castle/Kingdoms reddish brown pieces? I assembled some of them and tried building them and to my horror I was shocked to find out that a lot of them just shattered, cracked, broke and disintegrated when putting them together and I am panicking now!!!

Anyone have issues with B&P shipping delays? Now it’s been a month and haven’t seen or heard from at least 2-3 orders at all, they were on a roll at the beginning of the June but the second half has been dragging like crazy, I am missing at least 3 sets, 2 of which just hit the 1 month time line and nothing. -
It is an internet problem, I am aware of the IDEAS submitted Imperial fortress on here, at first I was thinking how did they do it? So perfect, magnificent and spectacular, I wanted something smaller to fit the other sits but then again it’s always the problem of not having enough bricks and I just gave up because I already spent a fortune on my first order, not sure on what I wanted to do. You should make a post about it, if it wasn’t for this post i wouldn’t have realized that at the end of the day, all I wanted was to create something from scratch that honors the original design and playability of the first soldier’s fort. This would had ran me close to 30-40 in pieces versus the 250usd I paid for the entire lots and bricks I wanted to accomplish. Do what I did, I study the manuals and then try to order double or triple the amount of bricks the set requires originally and you will come up with something to your liking I think. I could had saved money if I knew what I was building exactly but you don’t know until you try building bricks and see where it goes from there.

7 improvements for the new creator castle
eldiano replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
So since I have to wait August 1st for the release in North America, I don't have the chance to test or modify the throne room in person but when you managed to point out the flaws with the door replacement I made a studio version of the throne room and replicated both scenarios of the door not opening and closing because it's small. I pondered on extending an extra row but it would look off, so I managed to find a simple solution that somewhat works I think, I came up with moving the carpet/throne/fireplace to the right by one stud and removing an open clip from the fireplace to make the door swing open from the opposite side, i finally read up on 7946 and saw how they did it on that set and I think it works, but it's not functional, i mean it opens but still I wasn't expecting a massive improvement. I can put back the pearl open clip 1x1 when it's closed, but I myself wanted to see what was possible. You are right about your improvements, building the roof left me underwhelmed without the blue 2x2 tiles and the tower and everything else haha, now i'm placing an order now since I still have to wait a bit for arrival. Simulated the hinge function and it's as far as I got and i'm satisfied I think haha To be honest the only mod I liked from the brickset article was the king! I do have a couple of extra crowns laying around with gold swords and that looks beautiful!! -

yeah something's up with customs, i have like 6 orders pending and have not seen any movement since last week. Everything is taking forever. -
Has anyone tried to do anything useful with the FRAME 3X3, W/ BOW, NO. 1 Element 6343651 Design Number 73878 The new half circle window that could be perfectly used for a Captain's quarter or forward deck? It looks off on the Hogwarts chamber of secret castle and medieval 31120 but I'm sure it would be perfect in a pirate ship. All I could think of is the look out towers similar to the Silent Mary but making that ship lego mini figure sized is an expensive MOC I can't afford. I love the galleon inspired ship but i'm just thinking if anyone else has good ideas? Also would the monkey from the Wildlife Rescue Operation 60302 be a perfect fit replacement for the discontinued monkey? There's a darker variant on 60307!
