things changed: -lowered cockpit down roughly 1 brick, changed build around cockpit region to slope into wings, taper into body, round out the rear to more accurately reflect the shape of the model in canon -filled in gaps with 1 tile width across whole body; requires some gaps in wing construction -replaced guns for accuracy; subject to further change to reduce conspicuousness -cut up stickers to apply across model -cut cockpit -nexo tile at front to hammer in the point :) working on instructions if anyone's interested. if ur curious on scale it works like this

yeah the joint in particular is in EVO and is a high focus of his in the deployment of this system. going to be neat to see what he does with it -

good tweet on that actually i'm still mixed on these personally but this looks to be a very bright future for ninjago and i'm excited to see how the range grows from here next! -

you have to consider ghost cole was something pulled off in the show first and likely changed during the skybound wave plan, hence requiring a new print and only coming in 2 expensive sets. putting ghost cole in the smallest set would've basically been using a new print there, but unlike that nrg nya is an existing figure prior to this wave dropping. still, decent point on how this wave might not tie into the show very strongly, similar to the legacy wave and moto -

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
oh lol what i meant was that an advent calendar would be taking up a spot that, say, a fire dragon could hold. feels like an easy choice so far as balancing out budget for a wave -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
a simple reason they don't have advent calendars: ninjago is based on eastern mythologies and cultures, and it's not exactly common to see christianity or christmas in the east like it is in the west and western-based things. now, if ninjago had a new year's thing that'd be neat (although it might skirt controversies as well unlike say monkie kid), but it just doesn't make too much sense to give what are ostensibly asian or eastern-appearing characters a distinctly western (and somewhat pagan) holiday also that's one less set off the roster so how about we keep it that way -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
thanks for the clarification; glad to hear it! i do value diversity and in all accounts it seems like they've made the right move in more ways than one; when you're in an empire galaxy wide you've gotta let go of your gripes and promote species over race. glad to get an in-depth and thorough response on this and hoping not to continue this discussion too long further than a compliment on your cordiality -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
yeah basically this; far as i was aware the imperials would not only prefer to hire from a whiter male caste but also have those types of people gravitate towards it, especially towards the end and into the mandalorian when their troops stayed because they'd been imbued with fascist dogma. likely the first order avoided this and just recruited by kidnapping which mitigates the racial barriers. on the subject i suppose because they're in a galactic conflict they'd try to segregate less, but just judging by lucas' own intent with the empire it would make sense thematically. -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
the diversity present with the stormies is fine but honestly, when did the space fascists get so inclusive? just because they don't let aliens in doesn't necessarily mean they've lightened up that much on other people too. not to mention all the unique entries on bricklink but i'm sure that's not a problem. this is a bizarre complaint though. you're nagging the set for having... more printing? and accuracy? i think it's more dependent on them being unseen under the helmet, and as we've seen so far since the trexler marauder lego's trying at least to answer fans' bizarre complaints about angry clones. you can't please em all, i guess the set itself looks marvellous; insane how well it's been pulled off. i think the last ucs i've been this blown away by is... the ucs falcon, and that one i sure haven't gotten either. either way they're marvels of engineering and with this one i really cannot get over how well pulled together those legs and torso are -
check one of the flickr posts: they should have studio files that correspond to the actual model

Gundam WING X-0 (X-Wing Gundam)
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to Pirean_Grammaticul's topic in LEGO Star Wars
if you've ever stacked "older" SNOT bricks stud to antistud and put tiles on em they usually happen to be off a stud or two; the travis brick somehow made up for the remainder of the overwatch gun and it worked out. i was surprised this worked as well as it did tbh: i was considering a different gun base since i had seen an overwatch gun used recently and didn't want to feel derivative, but when i tested it out it was actually more brilliant than i thought. tha the trigger works to make it feel connected is even more of a W. and thanks for the rest of your comments! to be honest almost all of those comments on decisions were almost exactly thoughts i had in the process of building it, looking at both the rx 728 and red 5 and figuring out how to merge the designs ideally. should mention that the helmet was designed as a callback to the x wing helmet but with an insignia and the gun was a merger of that gundam rifle with the dc-15 and that longstanding star wars rifle butt. definitely one of the models that's taken a while to make work and i'm glad i did- 15 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Pirean_Grammaticul replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
honestly if the "d2c" is anything it's probably a building set for the wave; friend of mine alleges the model's $110 for 1300-1500 pieces. i can't comment on the veracity of this but it would certainly fit given ninjago's pattern of smaller location build for the winter and larger location build for the summer. fingers crossed for another modular though!
