Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
legofreak86 replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank goodness, i couldn't manage 10 minutes of that show before i missed the animation and voice cast of EMH. Good to hear the film will get sets. Well the star wars line and other lines other than DC appear to be continuing with the old style capes. Those capes would look rubbish on thor, they are too textured to match the comics and films, they look to artificial and modern, thor's cape is smoother and thinner like the old style capes in the film. I don't see if they wanted flexible capes why they didn't just go with galadriel's material, that looks nice and works perfectly. -

Yes its clear from the set pictures we've already had and the image there that Thor's arms and hammer have righly been updated to the chrome effect silver. This makes sense as nebula, the orb, the hobbit armoured figures of 2014 and other examples are chrome rather than grey. It also most likely means Ultron will be entirely of that colour and effect, from what I can garner from the catalogue pics of the sets. Its a step in the right direction I say, thor's hammer looks a metallic silver in the films so grey just looks odd, nice that they are improving their accuracy. I mean compared to the original avengers wave, this and guardians as the most accurate movie waves design wise that we have ever had in marvel. I mean the IM3 and Avengers wave were passable minfigure wise but there were a lot of anomalies such as widow's hair and face and hawkeye plus loki's face being a generic bruce Wayne. Guardians was literally movie accurate figure and set wise in every way. All the sets we have seen, appear in the trailers so far for AOU so that's looking promising too. Shame about Scarlet witch having the generic female hair rather than the mermaid style hair from POTC but maybe they only had art where her hair was wavier. Other than that every figure here looks very accurate to the movie and every set seems to be a specific scene in the movie. I'd wager though that the forest chase and hydra break in are part of the same succession of scenes as their settings look similar. -

They have made some changes with Thor: new expressions in a smirk and different grimace, they've finally dumped the grey for his arms and Mjolnir andgone with the chrome effect like with nebula's arms and the orb. So that's three significant chages, yes he is without leg printing or an 100 percent accurate hair-piece but the face and general look of the figure is almost identical to the version that appears in that film. I mean leg printing wise it seems he's wearing the same as thor 2 but this time in this movie he isn't wearing black on his torso or legs it appears to be a dark blue like this lego version, also the armour being mostly silver with the circles on his armour being that colour is accurate too as in this movie unlike Thor 2 the round engraved circles and the clasps that support his cape are silver whereas they were bronze/goldish in thor 2. With cap the lack of leg printing although annoying is a minimal concern as it appears other than brown boots and maybe kneecaps his legs are simply dark blue trousers similar to his usual look. I agree a smile on cap is a bit generic but maybe in the second set his head is different? As the exclusive strucker set also includes cap and lego are no strangers to making new head prints for expressions and including different ones in each set. -

THOSE ARE AWESOME! Odd that the January issue should have Avengers stuff in it, considering the movie isn't out till April. Do you reckon the sets may be arriving sooner than we thought perhaps? Also looks like Hawkeye has leg printing as his coat continues. I love the look of black widow, perfectly captures the character. All the designs and characters look superb now we see them in detail. -
I'm still missing the Lake Town Chase, i can't find it anywhere online, everywhere it seems oddly sold out. Sadly I think it might end up being the one set of the wave i can't get, which is a shame cause it includes some great exclusive figures and would work really well combined with the lake town attack.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I think if its just a tumbler style display model then they are making: A WHOPPING MISTAKE! For the price they are charging it has to be compatible with minfigures and have interior features. Its the most iconic part of the Phase 1 and 2 Marvel Movies. They could make such a good 1088 Death Star style set with lots of figures, a few rooms, features, something that would be the crowning jewel of the superhero line. Its unique, recognizable and iconic, it needs to be the level of set the death star is really, i mean detail and playability wise. Plus maybe not 24 minfigures but i'd say a fair few should be included due to its importance. Plus the tumbler i actually wanted to get but £169 for a huge tank that i can't integrate into anything and two exclusive figures, not worth it, it should have been minifigure compatible. I understand its a collector piece but its the only accurate tumbler ever released and it's only value is that it looks nice on a shelf. Therefore i think the helicarrier should be a decent sized accurate model that incorporates minifigure functions. The slave 1 and Death Star and Ewok villiage have shown us this is possible, lets just hope lego gets it right. -
That's genius!

Anyone figured out a way of adding a sword arm to Azog without modifying the figure with glue and such. the closest i can get is adding a grey hand and having it hold one one of the blades similar to whats on the chitauri ship. With Bolg perhaps armour wise, shredder's shoulder blades might work.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions

I'm compelled to agree. I think what may have looked better is if they had just had one hole in the fabric rather than the crossover as then the cape wouldn't look as thick around the neck. Then again storm's looks fine to me and if its same material then i'll wait til I see it in the flesh to make judgement. -
I'm going to see it again today as i enjoyed it so much at the midnight showing 2 days ago that i have to see it again! I'm actually currently watching the Sky Movies special which is a great documentary about the whole saga. One thing i will say is one last wave next year would have been great as filling the gaps waves. Like a final Middle Earth tribute wave to the entire saga to signify the end. Bridge Of Kazadum confrontation £25 Includes Gandalf, The Balrog, 2 moria orcs Amon Hen last stand £40 includes Boromir and Aragorn (Bloodied faces), Lurtz, Merry and an urukhai. Battle of Minas Tirith £130 includes Gandalf The White, Denethor, Pippin (gondor), 2 Gondor Soldiers, Gothmog, 2 armoured orcs. Set also includes an armoured troll and a seige tower as well as a just a bit larger than helm's deep gondor playset. Eowyn vs The Witch King Of Angmar £50 Includes Witch King, Eowyn, Merry (rohan), Theoden and an evil man. Set consists of an Oliphant, fell beast, and theoden's horse.

They could've named him

The only thing I feel unacceptably missing from this line is Bolg. He's the only principle Hobbit Movie character that hasn't been made which just seems a little silly as he is central in both films 2 and 3. It just feels like an unnecessary gap in the line-up. I mean even if we haven't got armoured variants of Thranduil,Azog e.t.c we at least have figures of them in their normal gear whereas bolg has the same armour and gear for both movies and still no figure of him. The one in the videogame is fine to me and it wouldn't even need that headpiece, it could just have it printed and look good enough, its just the armour itself that would need a new mold or maybe even a recolored old mold.

Oops! My bad, i got a tad mixed up. Yeah the elk was awesome.

Just saw the movie at the midnight showing last night......WOW MIND BLOWN! One thing though, I want a ravenhill set.....c'mon Lego. It's a shame the wave didn't go like this Lonely mountain set: Smaug, Thorin in armour and crown, Bilbo(DOS), Balin (armour), Dwalin (armour) Front Gate of erebor(attack of the wargs price range): Dain, 2 iron hill soldiers, 2 orcs same laketown set City of dale attack (about size of helm's deep)Bard (blue), Thranduil in armour, 3 orcs,2 elf soldiers, Gandalf scarred. Plus a moose for thranduil and a troll Ravenhill confrontation (dol guldur price range): Thorin (leather and chainmail), Kili (same as thorin), fili (same as thorin), Azog (armour), Bolg, Legolas (travel), Tauriel(travel) and gwahir. That would have really done the film justice plus the Dol guldur set. However was not to be, still at least the dale set gives us the characters (not the right versions) for the final showdown and some characters from the main battle. The other 3 sets are relatively accurate though!

Picked up 3 of the older sets of The Hobbit I was missing from Brick 2014 last sunday. The Goblin King Battle, Unexpected Gathering and The Barrel escape. Only missing Lonely Mountain, Laketown Chase, Battle of The Five Armies and Laketown attack now. Most of those Christmas should take care of bar the older Lake town set which I currently am searching for a good price to spend on it. I really like the Hobbit AUJ wave, the sets are terrific and the figures are brilliant. Plus now I have all 13 dwarves! Plus all of the AUJ setslook nice on display and are playable and based on the first 2 movies. The second wave was decent and I liked the dol guldur and I think laketown looks good but there weren't enough sets for the 2nd movie in my opinion. The 3rd wave is pretty cool by the looks of it.Shame about the lack of Bolg, Thranduil, armoured Azog. I do wish that the legolas had been based on his casual dos look with the silver arms.
-
Fair enough. Shame with the new Lego King next year having a cape with the overlapping over shoulder style cape that they didn't use a shorter version for Dain and Thorin. In brown that'd look perfect for both.
-
Has anyone tried putting a short brown cape on Dain yet? I don't have the set but in the movie he wears a brown cape by the looks of it? Can someone post a picture if they have as I'm interested to see what it would look like.
-
IN fact at this point just Bolg. That's all we really need to finish the wave.
-
Really my main wants are Bolg, Sauron, Armoured Azog, Armourless Thorin (BO5A), Bear Beorn. Then that would mean that every character from the franchise of major importance had been covered. MAKE IT SO LEGO...MAKE IT SO! Any exclusive sets next year that could incorporate them would be amazing.
-
Even though i love Azog's badass new armour and Thorin's final battle look i would love to have a bolg figure. Its literally the only central character that is needed to complete the line. Just a suprise lego shop promo would be amazing. I wish they'd at least give us some way to get a Bolg, like one more set, a polybag, with the blu ray of BO5A just something.
-
Yeah very true. To be honest just Armoured Azog, Bolg, Sauron (fiery), Armoured Thranduil, Legolas (casual gear) is all i feel there is a lack of. I actually if they did more sets would prefer to see more scenes rather than generics. Like the Ravenhill Azog and Thorin Fight, Trolls in dale with an armoured thranduil and Saruman Vs Sauron in Dol Guldur. In those three sets alone we could get those figures mentioned above. Even if it was after the Movie release like in January or something. Just a couple of sets to fill gaps like that would be cool. With hindsight i wish they had simply reprinted legolas to be casual version like with tauriel then that inclusion would've been a far more desirable one. Plus if they had expanded the BO5A set a bit and added a troll, added Bolg and maybe armoured thranduil then the set would be far more worth £59.99 than it is currently. I still like it cause of Dain, Thorin, Bard and the tower looks really cool even the weird ballista is kinda cool too. To be honest they have done a great job design and character wise with this line especially with the AUJ sets and minifigure wise throughout. Just a bit of an expansion on the dale set would have done the trick or maybe take Thorin and Azog out of that set and put them in a Ravenhill set and add bolg and kili and fili in chainmail. If they were just expanding the dale set then simply add a troll, Bolg and Thranduil and then have legolas be in his casual garb then he wouldn't be such a repeat. That would've boosted this wave tremendously. All using just a couple of main characters reprinted, a new figure and a big fig.

AH yes! I remember that now. It is in the theatrical as well i believe as that shot is unchanged (i own both theatrical and extended on blu ray) Personally the AUJ extended is a bit dry to be quite honest other than 2 scenes that add to the theatrical in a way that doesn't slow it down. The DOS one is quite decent though and has some great new scenes.
-
Really? Which scene. Is it that panning shot where Thranduil is on top of the hill is it imbedded into the side of the hill or somewhere else?
-
You too, I must've simply misread the situation. I suppose it was none of my business anyway, i'm not the best at reading situations due to my dyspraxia so sorry if i offended anyone. As i stated i meant no offence and bid you well also. Clearly just a misunderstanding. To be clear i agree with you somewhat on using spoiler tags for trailer discussion. On the subject of more sets i really wish we'd have got a Ravenhill set. As

Or alternatively lego could just accept that 4 sets isn't enough for such large movies as DOS and BO5A. It mystifies me when AUJ gets 6 sets as does the lone ranger and Avengers 2. That movies so large in scale and things happening such as DOS and BO5A get only 4 each. Plus with this being the wave to bow out middle earth in lego and cinema it seems a bit silly for lego to not make it a big event. They did the same With harry potter. We got for Deathly Hallows 2 sets that were as far from movie accurate as you can get. At least the hobbit BO5A sets are actually based on events from the movie and not on some lego fabrication like with Hogwarts battle (which actually was pretty similar to the BO5A dale tower set).
