1. Let me think..... from the newest series and the specials alone they could easily make: a T-rex wreaking havock near big ben, an underground sword/gunfight with clockwork droids. A sword duel between the sheriff of nottingham and robin hood above a pot of boiling gold studs, a huge dalek with an interior people can move around in ala into the dalek, dalek saucers, the orient express, victorian Horse chase with a carriage, galifreyan citadel, dalek attack ships, trenzalore clocktower with lots of daleks, Unit carrier plane with lots of cybermen attacking it, the bank of carabraxos, The tomb of the doctor in a huge giant grown tardis. Then counting the rest of the revivial: Dalek Fleets, pandorica, stone henge, the british museum, the crashed ship of the byzantium, the maze of the dead, davros's orb space ship, the sycorax warship, 15th century venice with vampires and a huge palace, the progenitor machine with the paradigm daleks, WW2 spitfires in space, Demon's run, Area 52 (huge pyramid in egypt), motorcycle chase through post ww2 germany, pompei with stone monsters, a staircase leading up into the sky above victorian london, the silents time machine, giant spider woman and robot santas, sontaran ships, unit valiant helicarrier, the empire state building. The possiblities are limitless. and lets not even go into the classic era sets which could be made. If this was sucessful Lego would be making sets until Doctor Who ended which won't be for a long time yet, it could be as large a theme as star wars and easily as sucessful.
2. ABOUT THE FINAL DUEL: From the recent picture it seems the sets sides are hinged, i reckon the side bits turn inwards putting the windows on either side, now looking at the layout of the room in the movie this makes logical sense, it also puts luke's catwalk in the right place after all, in front of the window at the left. http://www.propstore.../586/176588.jpg This means the only real innaccuracy is the size of the windows and the location of the reactor shaft (which can be explained for obvious reasons).
3. The rumour on the Brickfan appears to suggest all 13 incarnations of the doctor in the set possibly, that could be cool.
4. I'M BESIDE MYSELF WITH JOY!!! ITS FINALLY HAPPENED, I THINK JUDGING BY THE BBC'S TEASER IMAGE CAPALDI WILL SEE LEGO FORM. Personally i could see it either being the exterior with the 12th doctor, a companion (most likely clara) and a couple of monsters, maybe if they pushed the boat out they could have large set with interior of capaldi's tardis and the exterior with maybe 11, 12 and 10 and their main companions and a couple of monsters. Probably a bit early to think about it but i'm really hoping for a war doctor along the line. In all honesty Capaldi, Clara, a dalek, and another couple of monsters with the exterior of capaldi's tardis would make me happy by itself, but multiple doctors....now that would cause my mind to explode.. http://www.thebrickfan.com/new-lego-ideas-doctor-set-rumor/ INTERESTING RUMOUR....Posted before lego's announcement... if this is true then wow!!
5. Very thorough, also the hydra soldier is actually quite accurate to ones that appear in the film, in one of the extended trailers Iron Man destroys a gate and flies up a flight of outdoor snow covered steps and takes out a few soldiers with those eye masks in the process with his repulsors. I'd imaging this is supposed to represent the opening part of the film which was mentioned in the latest issue of empire magazine, quicksilver might be a bit out of place in that costume as i'd imagine he doesn't have a costume at that point in the movie, it is good to see him included in the lineup though as that means all the major characters of the film are represented in the sets.
6. I agree the hair is very accurate to the avengers 2 version as seen here: http://cdn3-www.supe...Black-Widow.jpg The torso and legs are also very accurate to the pictures and footage we have seen, this is an infinitely better version than the first one. The starlet hairpiece looks too rounded and curly at the top for her hair in the film, in both films its neater and flatter like lego's version. I think it resembles Scar Jo's hair better than any other i have seen, besides the hair bits to the sides are probably meant to represent her hair in motion. I'm happy to see they've fixed the belt so it has the iconic red symbol, the blue outlines are a part of Age of ultron as they glow as seen here: http://www.cinemable..._1414560494.jpg the detailing on both torso and legs looks pin point accurate to AOU unlike her avengers 1 counterpart which beared a passing resemblance to some concept art. I think the avengers 1 lego set gear my have been based on her Iron Man 2 gettup as probably in concept art she had that hairstyle planned for avengers 1 In fact: http://cdn.collider....t-johansson.jpg Also Black widow smirks quite a bit in the films and that smirk looks very much like one of her's. Maybe rather than the confident teeth smile on the back a grimace or a determined look would have benifited but other than that this figure is a vast improvement to the concept art one of 2012.
7. That would be ideal, the helicarrier isn't even close to worth £270 for me considering the death star's perfection. I'll pay whatever ridiculous price fury and hill are on the web, Coulson is very well known to the younger audience so the USM set makes sense. My money is reserved for the AOU, Jurassic World and Star wars sets most likely.
8. Hold up, off topic, is the post clock faulty as according to mine its 10:52 but on there it says 11:53?
9. Its not even a playability model as it has no minifigures and just blank trophy figures, kids won't fall for that.
10. Good point, I will withhold my final verdict until Lego officially shows it off tomorrow..
11. My current opinion: In the words of saruman the wise: " It is a lesser son of greater sires!!"
12. I hope so, as a display model it sadly pales in comparison to previous attempts, it almost looks like with the trophies they went with a midi scale, it looks small, not imposing or impressive. Unless this set has any minfigures I doubt its gonna sell half as well as other UCS projects as it just looks like a halfway effort in between scales, like they couldn't visualise it honestly and they sort of just half baked it. It just doesn't have the "WOW!" factor that most of these large scale sets have. Orthanc had it, star destroyer had it, death star had it, slave 1 has it big time, Simpson's house has it,as does arkham and ewok villiage even the regular scale Milano and millennium falcon have it.
13. Well for a UCS it is a bit blocky, as a display piece which without play features or minfigures that's the only thing it could be, it doesn't exactly have the best UCS detail I've seen, for the price its a tad small and dare I say it a bit underdone.
14. True the iron man one looks more like a trophy fig. That seals it most likely, probably a load of trophyfigures cause they are in scale with the set and cheaper probably to make. That's a shame but oh well, we still have AOU sets, bummer if it means we miss out on Coulson and fury and they just become trophy figs.
15. Looking at that I have doubts there will be any, I reckon it'll just be a load of those microfigures as I think I can see a few on the deck. Oh dear theres even a one in balck suit with a bald head in the deck as far as I can see, I reckon that might be a microfigure fury, they probably aren't going the minifig route.
16. Hmmm, judging by the iron man microfigure there won't be an interior. Might skip it if there are no actual minifigures and if its out of scale with the figures like the tumbler, save my money for avengers 2 sets. I'll make final verdict tomorrow, the design is quite cool though.
17. Whats interesting about that "defect" is it actually is more accurate to Aragorn's fellowship look. He has never worn an all grey waistcoat that continues onto the trousers, in Two towers and rotk the grey shirt becomes a brown one but the waistcoat remains dark brown and the jacket a darker brown. Its a shame they didn't just go with this for both variants but give one the grey shirt and one the brown. 18. Like that they've given Thor a new face, metallic arms and a new torso, a bit of leg printing wouldn't have gone amiss but it was the same with the other two thors we have had.
19. I never really took to the ewok villiage, I got the death star instead as It seemed like a more interesting array of figures and features. Therefore I never got a final duel updated luke so its nice to see him in a cheaper set, I never got the royal guard BP last year for some unknown reason (usually I leap at those) so its nice to see the updated design carried over. I am intrigued at Vader's new Helmet pieces and am ver interested to see what it comes out as. As for the set it looks mostly great. They have taken influence from palpatine's arrest a far bit with the red and gold bits near the door. Whats bizzare is the shaft where the emperor is thrown down is not where it should be, for some reason its next to the throne which is just plain odd. There is also sadly no place for luke to jump up and refuse to duel with vader. I'm glad under the stairs there looks a place to hide and that the three iconic windows have been placed in there, most of these pieces look unfinished so i'd imagine they'd have the necessary printing that is signature to the emperor's abode. Correct me if i'm wrong but the place where luke jumps to in this set appears to be on the left side of the set, I would guess it would have a collapsing feature to make the scene take place. I hope this set does not fall into the same trap the death star did, with no place to duel in front of the throne as that is an essential and iconic moment. AS for the shuttle, that just looks fantastic and its good to finally see an endor han solo. Can't wait to see pictures of the summer stuff either from Nuremberg or NY toyfair.
20. How many times? Thor has never worn a helmet in the movies other than Thor 1 for one scene before he took it off. On the contrary Thor is very accurate to the Age Of Ultron Movie, the armour is identical, they have finally given him the gun metal effect arms, his face is brand new and has two new expressions and his hammer is now metal effect silver like the orb and nebula's arms. The hair I agree with should be more the colour of thranduil from the Hobbit line but clearly they prefer this one as it catches eyes of kids.I also agree with the no leg printing. Vision again is almost entirely accurate to the movie version images we have seen, yeah a helmet mold for cap would be good but lego most likely won't do it as flash's helmet is too bulbous for cap as cap's helmet is more refined and smaller and lego have made a few new molds for this wave this year: Hulk, Black Widow Hair, ultron helmet, ultron prime neckpiece. That's already 4 new molds so sadly lego wouldn't make one for cap as they feel the helmet is small enough to just be a face mask, they have got the head print quite right this year though, with the details and the brown chinstrap. Shame cap doesn't have leg printing same with Thor but lego are a bit hit and miss this year with superhero leg printing. Supergirl, Black widow, Cyborg, Hawkman, Scarlet witch, hawkeye,Ultron (all three varaints and drones) yet Thor, Cap, Green Arrow, Superman, The flash don't seem to have any. No idea why this is but the figures are all movie accurate in this avengers wave and have far less inconsistencies than the 2012 wave, plus thankfully they all have unique face prints rather than Loki 2012's reuse of bruce Wayne's head.
21. Cause its a boring useless figure not based on Battle Of The Five armies that we already have one of and a Bolg or Old Bilbo or even Thorin in chainmail would've been more fitting for the final ever middle earth film home video release. Bain is hardly even in the movie, thorin is its central character, bolg is one of the central antagonists, kids will probably barely remember Bain, they'll buy it for bard as you can only get him in the £60 set.It is a nifty, cheap way to get Bard though I have to admit which is good for those who missed the main set. Maybe if they'd differentiated him from the one we got, maybe given him the burnt face from laketown as later in the battle he looks like that, that would've been a nice variant but oh well, i'll just stick with the standard blu ray. Do you know what woulv'e been cool, they could've included two figures with each variant cover, standard could have the thorin and Bilbo poster and have Chainmail Thorin and mithril Bilbo, 3D could be Thranduil and Legolas and have Thranduil (armour) and Legolas (casual gear from BO5A), then retail exclusive is bard and bain. That would have been cool.
22. Very reminiscent of the 90s animated series, well done!
23. Bad news....Bain is the blu ray figure, along with a repack bard: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Hobbit-Battle-of-Five-Armies-Blu-ray/123078/
24. Thats true, i'm running out of shelf space for the batvehicles whats next Bat-trike...
25. He's identical to the figure in the movie.
