  1. Maybe it is in the film and fits into the set nicely but I'm sure there is another building cause at toy fair I'm pretty sure someone said there was two structures and steps and something big possibly for bad guys. From that i'd guess there is a ruined building on the other side and the trebuchet is the bad guy thing.
  2. I agree with all of this. Good points here! I think the BO5A definitely has some sort of structure on the other side as we can't see bard or legolas. Figure wise: honestly I'm not really that bothered. The only thing its a shame not to get for me is Bolg ( I never expected any army builder figures) I always expected that we'd see named characters. I wish they'd made legolas his DOS and BO5A casual gear like with tauriel. All of the figures are new variants. The orcs are returning to the darker colour from LOTR and AUJ wave and have new hair, Tauriel has a new outfit, Thorin has a crown and armour, Bilbo has blue coat, new armoured company dwarves, New Elrond, Dain, new Galadriel, Smaug, Bain, New witch King, Bard has a new blue version, laketown bard's face is covered in scars and has a different angry look, Azog has an Angry face (opposed to his Smile in Dol Guldur). AS far as I can tell that's all "new" figures other than legolas. Not bad for 4 sets. The beauty of these waves is you can combine DOS and BO5A sets as they cross over. Thranduil may not be in armour but he's still got a sword he can still fight, the elves aren't armoured but they have been seen in the promo shots in dale, all the Dol Guldur stuff can combine into one huge sequence. In fact character wise maybe that's what Lego were going for. Maybe they intend you to put everything together and it all forms into one huge sequence from BO5A, maybe Beorn fights there in Bo5A. Remember when Lego were given plans for sets these two films were one film maybe they always intended for the dol guldur sections to form a big scene there from BO5A. It would explain Gandalf and Rad in Dol Guldur together and it would explain Beorn being there and maybe that elf wall fight with Thranduil maybe that is based on what has become BO5A. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if this all connects after we've seen BO5A. Especially Dol Guldur scenes.
  3. A pair of steps?? Not going to happen. Even Lego knows that that wouldn't sell. Besides it looks like there is some sort of ruined building on the other side. That box width shown is clearly cut off its not long enough. Normal £60 length Is usually a bit longer than that as Black Gate and Bag end were. They can't justify £60 for some steps and a weird trebuchet when they charge the same for Bag end. There literally must be more to it. Thanks :)
  4. I know this isn't nearly what we hoped, but the way I see it at least we get some new figures, a couple of movie accurate variants and the only figure that's a repeat is legolas the rest all have new printing, Faces etc. I reckon the other side of the BO5A set has something cool in store for us. I might be in the minority but I was hoping for Travel tauriel. We can't exactly say we don't have many orcs when we combine this years with last year's. Shame no Dwarves or Elves but at the very least we get several 3rd movie accurate characters. I wish legolas had his third movie gear and not his only worn once armour but oh well. Overall if we look at it. We get Smaug which is good, we get Elrond, Galadriel and Dain. Yes it would've been nice to have Beorn or Bolg but I have a feeling the reason they included Azog was that him and Thorin will have some sort of final battle and in a way he is the main antagonist of the movie who kids will remember. At least he has a new angry face. They may not have lived up to our expectations to the letter but lego have done a darn good job with the hobbit line, they have given us a cacophony of characters only missing a couple of important ones, they have pretty much represented accurately the biggest events of all three movies as far as I can tell. Leaving bag end, Escaping goblin town, finding the ring, escaping the orcs in the trees, Beorn, spiders in Mirkwood and capture by elves, Thranduil and the elves, The barrel escape, Lake town, Erebor fight with the dragon, Dragon attacking laketown and orcs fighting elves there, Looks like they have accurately represented all the scenes at dol guldur in all 3 movies, The battle of the five armies (well not entirely accurate but probably what the main characters are doing in the battle). Really they have covered 90 percent of the movies with some alterations in their sets. Its not a perfect job but I take my hat off to Lego for giving it a good try and giving us all something Hobbit to discuss on this forum for nearing 3 years now.
  5. I can't imagine what Bard and Legolas would be doing on the other side unless they are fighting each other LOL. I reckon theres something on the other side. They don't show the wargs as figures in the tree set from 2012. maybe theres a warg or another creature they aren't showing. Maybe something partially brick built so it is too big to be a minfigure.
  6. Does anyone else also notice for each set the banner at the top for the boxart is different. For BO5A it is erebor with mist, for dol guldur it is some white glowy structure and for laketown there is the sky with some forest nearby. Also for BO5A there has to be some other threat on the other side attacking legolas and bard as the only two orcs in the set are fighting Thorin and Dain. I reckon there is something else going on on the other side with another threat, a troll? a warg? Beorn?
  7. JUST noticed! Azog has a new face! Its an angry one as the original had a grin. Nice to see they are trying variation. ALSO BARD'S FACE IS BATTLE DAMAGED IN LAKETOWN Like burnt or scarred or something. His coat also looks burned and tauriel seems to have a new angry face.
  8. Just saw some terrible quality pics on another site. My Thoughts! Dol Guldur: Not Bad, Brand new golden Armour Elrond using the LOTR hair piece, Galadriel looks cool, I like the look of witch king. I reckon that wall fits into the current set. Lake town: Pretty good: Bard is the same, I like the new Tauriel, I like the new orc hairpieces, Bain looks decent, the set itself looks like a nice add on to Laketown. NO BOLG!!! That's a shame unless this is still a prelim and one of those orcs is a stand in for him. BO5A: Hmmm an odd set to be sure doesn't help that the image I'm looking at is cut off so you can only see the side of the set with thorin on the bridge.I have a feeling there is more on the other side of box. Minifigure wise: Good to get armoured Thorin,Dain is hard to see but looks alright, ANOTHER LEGOLAS UGH, maybe he is a stand in for armoured thranduil. I can't tell but is bard the blue coat one? The entire wave seems a bit lacklustre but at least we get some good figures and the laketown and dol guldur are good. I was expecting more from BO5A but oh well.
  9. Damn! Got here too late! Missed the pictures before they were taken down! That's really annoying!!
  10. Don't know what it means for the sets but I was reading an intriguing bit in the new empire about the film. Jackson mentioned the battle of the five armies having other factions fighting alongside orcs not just them and wargs. He said not JUST trolls, he said there are creatures they have bred and made for war in sauron's army and he said think of them as the panzer tanks of the gundabad orc armies. Before this he mentions the titular five armies being: Men, Dwarves, Elves, Eagles and orcs. He also mentioned rosghobel rabbits and other creatures getting in on the action. He made reference to the iron hill dwarves and showed empire a shot of Billy connoly riding a pig apparently as Dain Ironfoot and that there would be battle goats and battle rams in the iron hill army. I wonder how much of this detail they will put into the set...
  11. Hmmm... Plus the witch king appearing in BO5A as a proper threat would be a surprise which the studio would surely want to hide. Maybe it is sauron as surely thats what Elrond, Galadriel and saruman are doing there fighting with him. Who knows.
  12. I wasn't there but there was a teaser trailer shown a friend of mine confirmed. There are descriptions of it all over the web too. Can't wait til that's released publically as that sounded awesome. Plus apparently Avengers tower is a big part of this film we know from interviews and pictures, so surely this next wave is the opportune time to put it into lego form. I can picture it as the flagship of the avengers AOU line with lots of characters.
  13. Agreed. There is one more villain and remember character like Fury or Hill could make it into the sets as apparently hill was in the comic con footage quite a bit. I think it deserves 5. The hobbit unexpected journey got 6! Surely an even bigger movie event than that deserves similar.
  14. If you think about that he did that just to annoy Gandalf. In a I'm back fool, sort of way! He's showing off, like look what I can do! That's a great scene. I reckon that the next set might be combinable with that set to make a complete dol guldur sequence maybe based on all three films. If we think about it the first 2 sets have given us plenty of orcs, then add the next set that makes three antagonists and then five main characters to create a full scene. Its no coincidence that by collecting DGB and this upcoming set gives you all the white council bar saruman (who is available elsewhere)plus the three main villains who have been in dol guldur. I Reckon it will be a bit you can attach like DGA that goes with the characters.
  15. Good point, however its not a new mould. It would be reused from LOTR. Thranduil too most likely. Besides the generic elf hair isn't remotely accurate to Elrond or Thranduil's characters. If there are to be named characters in the wave rather than generic soldiers I'd rather they be accurate and detailed main characters rather than underdone figures using generic moulds for the sake of satisfying army builders if there are no generic soldiers in the sets. If we are getting named characters I'd prefer Thranduil have his elf hairpiece without large crown and his sliver cape, I'd prefer Elrond to have his LOTR hairpiece as 1. I never got the Elrond from that set and this variant in armour is far more useful/cool looking and 2. simply because it looks accurate and Elrond is an important member of the white council and if he is to fight in dol guldur in the movie then he is important enough to spend effort on. Same with Thranduil, Galadriel, King Thorin and Bolg. I think the best Elrond would be videogame variant, olive green cape and LOTR hairpiece.
  16. On another topic after seeing what Elrond uses in the movie hair wise I hope he has the hairpiece from the previous LOTR line with the crown rather than the generic elf hairpiece shown on the videogame DLC gold armour Elrond figure. I do like the design they have matched it perfectly for the armour though. I hope he also has a green cape that matches the green printing on his legs like the dol guldur photo. I like the Galadriel videogame version with legs and no sleeves but again she would do well with a white cape I think.
  17. Polybag maybe? Like the old studios one with Spielberg! That's what they should do for collectable minfigures. Directors. Like Spielberg, Jackson, Lucas, Zak Snyder, Joss whedon, Stan lee (not a director but would be cool), Bay (I joke), JJ Abrahams. But an exclusive hobbit polybag when you spend money on hobbit sets would be cool.
  18. Leg printing is remarkably similar but the blue accents from that one are not present nor is the silver bit at the top of the chest. It appears to be almost an identical version of the red armour only in gold. The legs on that figure however I think look quite accurate to this version. Do you know what would be cool. A peter Jackson figure in casual wear with his trademark white mug as an accessory. Maybe in a book or something.
  19. I'm looking forward to see him either knocked on his behind by smaug, running away girlishly screaming or as you suggest throwing a decanter at smaug! Is it odd that that is actually something that I would enjoy watching just for the comedic value. OH and forgot to mention. I saw a page of the new empire magazine today and Elrond was in it in armour!!!! The armour was gold and looked similar in design to his red one, it looked pretty awesome, he also seemed to have a olive green cape and maybe olive green robes underneath the armour. It was almost full body gold other than green accents. He was in dol guldur. http://heirsofdurin.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/emp914_3.png
  20. I am groot means lots of things ;)I agree it was a stunning movie it got applause from everyone and there were a load of kids there who were ecstatic. It deserves all the hype it gets!
  21. Do you know what would be odd. If Bain fired it! Hopefully it will be bard as trailers and posters suggest. I reckon smaug attacks and the wall of bard's prison is blown out and bard escapes. I hope smaug totals that statue of the master that'd be great!
  22. On the matter of the BO5A set: Armoured Thranduil King Thorin Dain 2 armoured orcs 2 dwarf soldiers. 1 elf soldier a villain character Azog?, Bolg? Set consists of Ruined dale buildings like description maybe that courtyard that a lot of action seems to take place in with surrounding ruined structures, Battle ram (for dain?) chariot, something for orcs. what we may get: Thranduil armoured, 2 dwarves, Thorin Armoured, dain, 2 orcs. Depends how much they want to put into the set I guess. It is an iconic sequence in both film and book so I would hope they do the film version some justice. Maybe due to the laketown guard bard has to take the windlance to another tower. Maybe the windlance gets destroyed and he has to find another way to fire it. Depends on how the movie swings it.
  23. Agreed the accuracy was completely dead on! The dark aster was simply an idea for a set. Just cause it was a cool ship in the film. They did cover all of the main characters. FAR superior to Iron Man 3's wave.
  24. After recently seeing guardians yesterday I have to say a large dark aster set would be quite cool. Details discussed in descriptions of characters could be spoilerish therefore I will not go into detail on what they mean in the film.: The ship of Ronan, it could come with some reissues if they wanted but it could do some variants. Figure wise it could have: Ronan(purple eyes and purple highlights on his chest), Nebula (angry face), Korath The Pursuer, Star Lord (scrapes and marks on his face and other side of his face with black skin and purple eyes), Drax (angry face), Rocket (ravagers outfit from Sdcc), Yondu, Groot (normal size), Gamora (same as star lord purple eyes and black skin on other side of face)or her main outfit from the movie which is black and sleeveless and not released thus far. Then one sakaran. The set itself could have the flight deck with large front open alcove/window, and a long black platform with a circular ridged area in the middle also a holographic screen could be swapped with the window. There would also be a throne for ronan near the window, another room would be the control room with green cylinders hanging down from the celing and an exploding wall section near the back of the room. The final room would be the engine room with lots of gears and cogs turning mechanisms but space for a fight. Just an idea to finish the characters we still need and have a nice big thing for the wave.
  25. Every frame was dazzling, it has a lot of humour and you really root for the characters as all of them are likeable and at times very heroic. Its quite unpredictable as it goes along as they aren't conventional heroes so you aren't that sure what they are going to do. The action is stunning and there aren't any huge city destroying super hero vs. villain fights unlike other marvel movies. There is some great action sequences involving spaceships, swords, guns e.t.c. Its easily the best marvel film I've seen and not only sets the groundwork for phase 3 but also is an exceptional and unique adventure on its own. There wasn't really any bit I can identify that made me go "MEH". I thought it was all excellent. There is some very brief swearing but only as much as you'd see in a 12A and star lord's middle finger is no longer censored by the obscene gesture screen display. Yeah only a couple of swear words. Nothing disturbing whatsoever. I agree the guardians line was very well handled compared to iron man 3. If they had done iron man 3 wave with such accuracy then it would be good. One thing I did notice. They downsized the necrofighters as in the film they are far larger and act also as shuttles for Ronan, nebula e.t.c.
