LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
PicnicBasketSam replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, that's interesting. The tank thingy and the TIE Striker look really good, I really hope the TIE's wings fold downward like they're supposed to though. AT-ST looks all wonky, but I will only pass judgement when we see the pics of it without the distracting boxart. The two larger sets are too ugly to consider buying--good for my wallet at least. Actually I might just get the tank, there are big Technic summer sets better than most of these. -

We Americans usually have the best prices... but dang, this wave is PRICEY! Except for the StarScavenger and black ship with Dengar, but nobody's going to buy those given all the Force Awakens and Rebels stuff. CTT is really quite small for $110, the TIE set has 2 $30-sized ships for $90, the X-Wing is a reskin of the last one with none of the build issues fixed for the same price, and Rex's AT-TE is $20 more than I would pay for a 972-piece set with a mere 5 minifigures. Not to mention the Jakku outpost, which is really frickin' tiny for a $60 set and ugly to boot. The only set here I MIGHT get is the TIE/A-Wing because it's actually a great pair of models. -
Well, the stormies in TFA seem slightly better trained... they at least managed to hit Poe's X-Wing, and TR8R would likely have won that battle if not for Chewie.

@xboxtravis7992: I know! FBTB's comment section can be quite irritating... I wrote something in rebuttal of some guy's ranting about "BvS is better than Marvel movies!" with logic and calm reasoning, and he got even more angry and defensive... sometimes I wonder if people actually dislike most Marvel films, or they're just trying to get attention.
-
Ooh, I haven't seen that before! Time to go digging for more. Also, I find it funny that the designers' mockups for new pieces are EXACTLY what I used when I was building these sets in LDD before the 3/14 update.

Yeah... I went to a 4:45 showing today, and we were like the only people in the theater. I get the feeling it's getting pushed out because of all the other blockbusters coming out this summer, and the fact that everyone's already seen it. About X-Men... I watched Jeremy Jahn's review, and he said it was pretty entertaining, but forgot to mention all the story elements pulled out of the other movies. I won't spoil anything that I've read, but Apocalypse himself is about the ONLY original thing in the whole movie.

San Diego Comic Con 2016
PicnicBasketSam replied to Khscarymovie4's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What if they did Bob: Agent of Hydra? (He's an old supporting character of Deadpool.) That seems like the sort of thing that makes uber-fans happy and the average consumer doesn't really care about. -
1. Winter Soldier 2. Guardians 3. Avengers 4. Civil War 5. Iron Man 6. Ant-Man 7. Ultron 8. Captain America 9. Thor 10. Thor 2 11. Iron Man 3 12. Iron Man 2 13. Hulk

That is one awesome model, but I don't think you're allowed to make a post whose sole purpose is promoting your own Ideas submission.

Which is the worst wave of BIONICLE G2?
PicnicBasketSam replied to TwistLaw's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Probably this year's summer wave... there is nothing, repeat nothing, that interests me or looks good. Some of the skull villains looked good and Ekimu was just awesome last year--there is no standout model this time. -
^that decoration for a 1x2x2/3 slope is, in fact, in LDD... look in Extended mode's decoration tool.

Have LEGO products become more violent?
PicnicBasketSam replied to bartneck's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'll just copy-paste my Brickset comment about the study... *sigh* That's not a particularly well-thought-out study. The VERY FIRST thing it says is that violent media makes kids more violent, and then says "Well, it probably doesn't, but because we need evidence, we're going to say it does so we can also say LEGO has jumped on that bandwagon." The whole think is hinged on something that has not been proven at all, and as such shouldn't even be taken seriously. Also, the whole thing with "weapon bricks" also kind of disproves itself with the whole thing around the Death Star--you can just as easily use weapons for other things as other things for weapons, so clearly, that argument isn't valid either. I think this guy is just looking for attention by claiming LEGO is doing something horrible. So original. -

Um... I'm kinda lost. Aside from the nonexistent steering and 4-speed gearbox, what else does this thing do? And if there's no HOG, how do you even control the steering?! -
OK... now I don't want Quake Beast either. I think the entire wave will have to be a pass for me...

That explains a lot about Stormtroopers.

Yeah, no. I will say that the most violent-type thing we've ever seen in a set is Deadpool. -

Keep in mind, there might be more to the TIE Striker than just the ship itself... if they put in a few scenery builds to bump up the price of an otherwise-small fighter (Naboo N-1, I'm looking at you) it wouldn't surprise me. Also, I did actually look up the TIE Striker after posting that... wow. That looks strange. Can't wait to see how they pull that off in the brick. -

OK... I'm thinking tank is $30, AT-ST is $40, and TIE Striker is $70. The last TIE we had was $70, so why not this one? -

I got this set about 2.5 months ago... I parted it out pretty quick. Not very interesting design... I only actually like Macy and her hover-horse. Built a submersible/speedboat-type thing out of this set. -

AT-ST is $70!? What new madness is this where something smaller than at AT-DP is pricier? -
Some Star Wars sets go off the shelves much faster than that... not especially surprising considering there are 3 waves a year now. Also, the 2015 Summer Ultra Agents sets lasted approximately 5 months... which is a travesty, because the biggest one is totally bad-megabloks.
