I completely agree with you, Sandy! Of course a Paradisa like theme with purple colors would not come back. But - like already said - this is nowadays not longer necessary. Civilian sets in general appeal to boys and (perhaps even more) to girls. So TLG does only need to release more civlian sets and so they get girls into Lego, too (that's btw what they did with the Farm theme and the Camper). About next year's Kingdoms sets: Since there are three civlian minifigures (prince, medieval woman and blacksmith) and a pig included in this year's Kingdoms advent calendar I had an idea: In 2008 there was one civilian minifig included in the Castle advent calendar and then in 2009 we got brilliant the 10193 MVV. So what about a medieval farm (=> medieval woman and pig in this year's advent calendar) in 2011? Klaus-Dieter

That's a great and very intersting topic, TheBrickster! I bought the 7686 Helicopter Transport last year. It's imo a very well designed and classic looking heli transporter I really like. An older heli transporter I do not own - but since these days City sets get better and better I partly plan, parly already did sell or disturb older Town sets since they do not go with nowadays City sets (esp. because of the different size of the vehicles). In my final layout I plan to have a small (about one meter long) highway on which I plan to set this heli transporter, the Lego Truck (2010) and the Octan Truck (2010). I even plan to built a small heli port - but only very simple with one of those official airport-roadplates and some lights on it. Klaus-Dieter

That's a completely amazing MOCset, Selander! I really it! It looks absolutely realistic! The most I like that you added green car doors, a tan loading platform and the crane. This would be a perfect set for us AFOLs as additions to our cities and for the JFOLs as a much action oriented set. Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for this great review, Rufus! I voted for outstanding Con: -no ladder up to the tree house -computer screen instead of TV screen in the kitchen (why not another sticker?) -sofa only fits one minifig -seats too high in comparison to the too low tables -no bathroom/toilet -no additional daughter -no bicycle -no car -no car port or garage Pro: -complete family -lovely garden with tree house and bbq -awesome exterior and interior design (kitchen, living room and bedroom) -solar panels -terrace with sun chair -skateboard -mailbox -street lamp -a lot of accessory Although some few things could be done better, this set is all in all absolutely amazing! It offers nearly everything a decent family house should include! And it's the first family house after many decades. A really, really good turn of TLG! More civlian buildings on! Klaus-Dieter

That's an absolutely amazing MOCset, Lightningtiger! I really it! The design looks completely similar to an official set. To get even doors on the side of the truck is a great idea. Only two ideas for improvement: I'd add sticker(s) to the back door(s), too. And perhaps you could shorten the distance between the driver's cab and the container (to me the ditance between them looks too large). Otherwise it's perfect and a very well fitting addition to your IGA Grocery! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for this great review, Nebsirob! I voted for outstanding  Con: -cash point is much too low (in comparison to the height of a minifig the table reaches only the knee) -air conditionings on both sides of the shop make it impossible to directly put it next to another house Pro: -great design of the truck -perfect minifigure constellation (man, woman and kid) -great design of the shop -a lot of brilliant toys -awesome interior of the shop Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for this great review, Bachus! I'd vote for above average  Con: -only six minifigs -below average roadside structures (esp. the much too empty shop) -expensive -tram with walls between the different compartments -stickers with text in english language (e. g. "city sweeper") -bus without floor Pro: -awesome design of the vehicles -first tram in a Lego set ever -postcard pillar Regrettably TLG didn't take that much work into designing the roadside structures a bit more precisely - esp. the shop is much too empty (a cash point and a shelf with some drinks are really missing). The number of minifigs is much too small for how many and big vehicles we get with which they can and should go to work, into holidays etc. The stickers in english language disturb. Everyone can clearly detect that the city sweeper is a city sweeper. And everybody knows that "55" has to be the line of the tram and not the number of the passengers or the age of its driver. Having these stickers in english language distrubs because in countries where english is not the first language spoken and written there, the most of all signs etc. (not all but the most) are in the according language. I hope that in future City sets TLG will use again self-explaining signs/stickers like they did in the past (e. g. some fruits for a vegetable shop instead of a sticker with "grocery" on it). But all in all this is a great set with some excellent vehicles which we partly did never get before. Klaus-Dieter

Thanks KielDaMan. No, there aren't still many people which use this music player. But since TLG did nevertheless include one in last year's City Minifigure Collection and since it simply looks good and everybody knows what it should buy, I used it in this my MOCset, too. Klaus-Dieter

Hello everybody! Over the past weeks I've designed a giant Town MOCset in LDD for the first LDD contest here on EB. Here is the result: Paradisa Hotel You want to go to holidays? Then the Paradisa Hotel is the perfect place where to stay! This set includes a small beach, a beach bar, a hotel (1st floor: entrance with reception, recreation room, restaurant; 2nd & 3rd floor: each with guest room and bath room; 4th floor: conference room, heliport), a helicopter, a black limousine, 12 minifigs and a lot of accessory. An overview of the front and of the back: Now to the details: The minifigs: chauffeur, rich man, pilot, reception woman, waiter, bellboy, barkeeper, cook, complete beach family (father, mother, son and daughter), white bicycle and other accessory The black limousine: built after the taxi in this year's "Train Station" - but with car doors! The helicopter: The beach with beach bar: The entrance of the hotel with two fountains on both sides: Reception and recreation room: Restaurant with kitchen: Bath room (2x): Guest room (2x): Conference room: Heli port: Big sign on top of the roof: Some more pics can be found in this folder (when public) of my BS gallery. Comments are welcome! Klaus-Dieter

Great entries so far! Here's my enty: Class "LDD only" Paradisa Hotel lxf-file For a set description, many more pics and discussing please go to this topic - thanks. Klaus-Dieter

So what does it include: 7 minifigures (partly ice skaters) (and a baker?) 687 parts bakery owls other animals? (dog and cat?) "many accessory" "light through the window" => another light brick? Christmas cakes trees and street lamps This sounds very interesting - so I can't wait for pics! This set is definately on my wishlist. Klaus-Dieter

Thanks for your attention, Bruman. Now I posted the correct link. With 4287 pieces it includes about two times that many bricks than the Grand Emporium and about thousand bricks less than the Taj Mahal. Consequently it should be 250-300 Euros. And about the size: I bet it will be 102 cm long, 45 cm tall and 26 cm wide. I must say that I'm really surprised that so many vehicles come with this set. I'm really looking forward to see some pics of this set - although I very likely won't buy it. Klaus-Dieter

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you very much for the link to that information, Mirandir and Edmond Dantes! new minifig series (very supposably next year) no barcodes to find out which minifig is included But hasn't there to be any marking on the bag that the weight can identify which set lays on it (I thought that every set is weight so that they can control whether all elements are included without having to open it)? So there perhaps won't be barcodes but something other which will give us a hint to find out which minifig will be included? - I really hope so. Since having either to pay a very high price for the minfigs on Ebay or to buy a huge amount of minifigs to finally get those I want will for me surely not be possible. Klaus-Dieter -
Hello everybody! About one week ago I desinged following MOCset with LDD: Police Cross-Country Vehicle The police is on its way on the streets to arrest a bandit. Help them! This set includes a police cross-country vehicle, a female police officer, a mobile phone, a warning vest, handcuffs, a lamp, a pistol and a stop disc. Additional views without the police officer: The reason why I added a female police officer is because females in general but esp. in the police theme are completely underrepresentative. After my knowledge the last time when TLG included a female police officer in a police set was in the police station from 1999. But in reality there are many women as police officers. Comments are welcome! Klaus-Dieter

That's a great and very interesting topic, ThatGuyWithTheBricks! But to find the one best theme is really hard. Nevertheless I found my favourite: Western  Next to Western there are the Lion Knights, the Forestmen, the blue and green Dragon Knights and the Bat Knights. Klaus-Dieter

ComicCon takes place on 22nd-25th July. So if there was another exclusive SW set, it highly likely would be revealed there. Since if there was another Exclusive it surely would be released at the latest in mid-October, I really wonder why we didn't get any information or set name yet. Or will there be no more Exclusive for this year? Klaus-Dieter

These interior details are stunning, lightningtiger! I really that counter with the frame with all these little "things" in it and the brilliantly designed freezer! Very, very well done! PS: May I "steal" your idea of how to build the freezer for a LDD supermarket MOCset? Klaus-Dieter

I totally agree with all your ideas mentioned in the last posts since these are simply existential parts of a decent city! An additional comment to my wish for a new skateboading theme/set: It can even include some BMX-bikers, wakeboarders and inlineskaters in addition to the skateboarders. And there should be skateboards in different colors - always only blue is really boring and unrealisitc. Black with stickers would be perfect. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter
-
Thank you very much for this great review, The Cobra! I voted for average Pro: -great little skateboarding set -well designed ramp -green helmet Con: -much too old face (for a set which mainly shall address TFOLs) -not fitting torso Like I already mentioned in the Ideas for new City sets topic, I would welcome it if TLG released some new skate park sets - or at least one big - since for us AFOLs it would be a great civilian addition to our cities and for all the TFOLs and JFOLs it would be a great playset representing their own hobby. Thanks, Chris. Thanks, CarrollFilms. Completely agreement here, too! ALthough I had luckily the chance in the last years to get all WW sets from the ninetees, I still want a new theme since there is so much missing we really need for a complete, decent Western town and Western theme! Klaus-Dieter
-
Thanks, Chris. Yes, a saloon was one of the really existential elements a Western town and Western theme has to include - but TLG regrettably missed it in 1996/97. So I really hope we'll see one in a new WW theme. Klaus-Dieter

Thanks, lightningtiger. Well, those square screens on the diesplay shall actually be Vista screens. Thanks, prateek. I had more the German "Mediamarkt" in mind - supposably TLG did, too, when looking at this my creation since they did not insert it in my public LDD gallery (it got that red exclamation mark)(although I did not name it after a special real-exisiting multimedia store).
