Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Pandora replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I hope they don't realise it was me" mutters Nyx to Boomingham and Thothwick as she sees the effect of her spells. "Uhm, oops?" A noise draws her attention as Arthur appears and starts talking straight away. She raises an eyebrow but keeps her mouth shut. Once silence falls she speaks. "Larry dear, do you remember the time I destroyed all those beasties, back in the desert? And I got to keep the pink one's hide? Brings back happy memories," she smiles dreamily "although we did tend to argue a bit more back then." the smile fades a little "If Arthur puts that Black one to sleep, he could Hasten you, and that'd be handy as you'd then get two chances at summoning Barty, right?" Nyx regards the new beasties with interest. "They're immune to a whole lot of stuff, and I don't have anything handy for an Ancient." she says, rummaging through her gems. Another thoughtful look.... "This might do, though" Nyx pulls out her Scroll of Frailty and focuses it at the pink one (Cosmosaur) from the back row. -
New to Fabuland and has questions.
Pandora replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The FABULAND range was aimed at both boys and girls, and the promotional shots for the sets fully support that. It was designed as a sort of stepping stone between DUPLO and SYSTEM LEGO, although all the FABULAND pieces are SYSTEM. For more inspiration, check out the wonderful MOCs in the FABULAND Builder's Guild, and some of the original sets (and their accompanying promotional pamphlets) can be seen in the Special Themes FABULAND Review Index. Also, the appearance of set numbers as part of stickers for sets is also true for some City sets, for instance as vehicle license plates. -

OoC: Okay (not ok-ey) doke, and fair enough. Is this ok? Nyx looks around aghast, and necks a Mead as she does so. She catches the Scroll of Sealing deftly, and as she pockets it she draws out her Opal. "Hell's teeth, I haven't seen a good fight like this since the last time I visited the taverns at the docks" she looks around; fortunately nobody actually heard her. She closes her eyes and focuses her ice magic to freeze each of the leaders of each house. -

She closes her eyes and focuses her ice magic to freeze each of the leaders of each house. That done, she marches into the crowd and forcibly separates any brawling couples - the fire in her Battle Mage eyes as she glares at each hopefully deterring any further infractions. Anyone who resists gets either a sharp slap on the cheek (not so much as to damage them), or a surprising kiss (if they're good looking enough to warrant it). Anything to stop them in their tracks and break the spell. -
Aaawww, it just shows how their relationship has grown!

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner

Nyx roars with fury as the Darkness bursts forward from her fingertips and she twirls, savagely striking Steerpike with her Standard, the ferocious force almost knocking him off his feet. "Larry my dearest, take this time to lick your wounds and I shall once more attack this abomination. You may still be needed to attack." Nyx once more adopts her battle stance in the back row, preparing another Darkness spell for Steerpike, still gripping her Standard tightly. -
With what money?

"Thothy!" Nyx gasps woefully as she watches her dear friend fall. She whirls her head round to glare at Steerpike, hair blazing behind her as her eyes pierce him. "You!" she rasps "You will pay for this!" She pants heavily, controlling herself and turns to Boomingham. "Larry, I think it's now probably best for you to tango with this worm, while I'll try my Healing Staff on myself." -
I think you misunderstand Zeph; Nyx would love it (and I'd love it for her too), but my only concern was whether her Magic Counter would still work. I guess I could at least ask Sandy.... Sandy, would Nyx's Magic Counter still work with the Catsuit?

Nyx prepares to cast Darkness against Steerpike once more from the back row, as long as Boomingham heals her. If she is not healed, she belts herself with her Healing Staff instead. -
You do? Similarly, Nyx might also be interested in the catsuit, from a fashion point of view. Not sure if it would mess with her Magic Counter, though.

Nyx giggles as Boomingham addresses her. "Lord Boomingham" she says attempting to be serious but still giggling "it would be my utmost honour to dance with such a dashing gentleman as yourself" she bows deeply, winks at Boomingham, and turns in the general direction of Steerpike, once more charging a Darkness spell at him from the back row. "Oh, and if it helps, I can belt Thothy with my Healing Staff next round. It'll free you up to keep at Steerpike, and I've pretty much got the accidentally-setting-people-on-fire bit under control now. " -

Nyx stands firm with her allies. Once more she focuses Darkness magic on Lupus and only Lupus from the back row, planning to quell her magics should he have already fallen. -

Nyx feels the soft brush of Metasimian fur against her leg as Boomingham lays Thothwick down next to her. She crouches, feeling softly with her fingers and finding and stroking Thothwick's head as he sleeps. "Don't worry Thothy, we'll get them, and soon, I hope" she whispers She rises, vengeful, and reaching out with her Ether to sense the people around her. She sniffs the air with a look of disgust. "Larry dear, can you smell wet dog?" She subconsciously reaches out once more and focuses Darkness energy on the weaker signal of the two, Lupus, from the back row. -

Nyx stumbles, annoyed, but finds a helping hand gently guiding her. She recognises Larry's touch and feels the.. connection once more. The annoyance fades, and she focuses. The Ether within her senses the enemies in front of her, so she channels her Darkness magic at the violent core of Steerpike as she stays with Boomingham in the back row. -

A look of utter distaste flashes across Nyx's face as her enemies howl. Now wearing her Parasol, she once more targets Darkness magic at Steerpike from the back row. -

Nyx grins. "No worries, Larry." Nyx points herself in Steerpike's general direction and summons Darkness magic through Zee's Standard at him from the back row. -

OoC: Zeph, do you want me to equip the Parasol now or fire at Steerpike this round? Nyx does as Boomingham suggests. If attacking, will be Amethyst at Steerpike through Zee's Standard, back row. -

Nyx turns to Baba's voice, in a Stephen the Wondrous Minstrel type of way. "So Babs, basically, you're an old hag that's been hanging around for ages like a bad smell. You ain't stealing my heart, Grandma, and I don't know what you want, and I don't much care. I'm getting into a habit of stopping crazy old women like you; the world isn't yours to take. Tomorrow is always new, that's half the fun and I want to get my sight back just to watch you burn." Nyx turns back to the voice that soothes her. "If you say so Larry. Are they black? Tell me they're black. " Nyx stands well back and dry-retches a little more with the poison in her system, but pulls on the Sterile Gloves, hoping to quell her nausea. -
I agree, but I took this as a retrospective. I certainly didn't trawl through tropes to find the elements in the first place, Nyx evolved, but having now seen some links to tropes and exploring, I can see some aspects of her character in the tropes.
-
I keep meaning to answer these "question of the whatever"s, so I'm going to answer this now before I forget. Nyx started out 50:50 this and this, but as time has progressed (and as she became a Battle Mage), she's kind of evolved more into this with a huge overlap of this. Or at least that's what I've been aiming for, anyway. She was always meant to "Badass Adorable" but in a magicky way, and she's probably a good mishmash of all 4 tropes by now.

Nyx fumbles slightly, feeling for Boomingham's hands. She finds them, taking the gloves, and giving his hands a little squeeze before pulling away and putting them on over her thin black goves. She turns back towards Thothwick's voice, a look of concern unconsciously on her face. "Thothy, I.. I know how all of those things affected you. I was there too, I remember all too well. But Atramor went to try to save Triad, she would have died alone if it weren't for him. He tried, he really tried. And Gnash, he was a good man.. orc.. being.. whatever, but he was killed by that crazy Wren. Hans... yeah, that was... unfortunate, but again Atramor was trying to help, and Constance..." Nyx sighs, the memories of each are so much more vivid without her sight. "Constance was.. unfortunate, but it was Tarn who threw the bomb, and in that situation..." She trails off. Atramor had become like a brother to her, but Thothy was also someone she cared about deeply. She could see where he was coming from, and now was not the time to argue. -

I'm really surprised you thought I was Gertrude; I find that very odd. I don't ever post anything like that, and (sorry Kadabra) I certainly wouldn't behave like that either. Even if I had known you were Pink (which I didn't) then firstly I wouldn't have focused on lynching someone just because of who they are, and secondly I would have no desire to lynch you in particular unless you seemed like scum to me. I really don't play that way, and I never have. -

Nyx looks around to where she hears Thothwick's voice, arms stretched out slightly, searching. A puzzled and worried expression is on her face, as she tries to work out with her remaining senses what's going on. "Who? Atramor?? Is this why you hate him so much? But... Atramor is a completely different person, Thothy. Atramor didn't do these things, she did, whoever the hell she is." Nyx turns to where she thought she heard the female voice. "Just who the hell are you anyway? And what the hell do you want? What the blazes is going on! Tell me!" The frustration from not being able to see grows, and Nyx once more feels her temper rise as a result.
