Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Pandora replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Obviously I'm very, very pleased we won, but I know that comes at the cost of another team losing, and I think it's really important to recognise what an amazing job Hinck and Rick did. When the town was paranoid that they were being overrun with Scum conversions (or was that just me?), actually it was really just these two who were the ones quietly collecting information and killing off townies. It was so damn close at one point, and given the apparent inactivity of your teammates, it's surely a credit to you both that just the two of you were able to bring the town almost to its knees. I think you guys knew more about what was happening at night than we Masons did, certainly early in the game, thanks to your abilities to look townie and attract information. Before you killed everyone, of course. It was a hard fought game by you guys and there were multiple turning points in the game; bad luck guys. That argument may have held a little more weight if you hadn't killed me, especially as I hadn't claimed any sort of NA. I completely agree. It is already astonishing the damage Hinck and Rick managed to do to the town as (effectively) just the two of them, and I think this highlights just how close it was so often in the game. CallMePie, I am so very glad we chose to convert you on night one. You turned out to be the excellent choice we anticipated, and you hit the ground running in the Masons with information, opinion and theories. You worked so well with both me and Shroudy, and your selfless act of stepping forward, knowing there would be a massive target on your head, helped secure the victory for the town by starting a continuous link of confirmed townies. I think you played a great town game, and it was your townieness that led Dave to claim Tracker to to you, and thus his conversion into the Masons (prior to that revelation we had planned to convert Zepher). Additionally, you said the most sage comment when you joined the Masons and saw my paranoia laid bare in the conversation: "You're a Mason, you're supposed to be paranoid!" Dave, you've already heard of my annoyance at your unfettered trust of Hinck (and desire to play with him more than us ), and how you spilled the Mason's secrets to him, confirming both me and Pie as Masons to him, but your post above shows that you truly understand why I was so annoyed. I'm not going to press the matter, and I'm glad that you and I have worked things out in private. I hope you continue to play and, like all of us, improve as a player. Shroudy, your cover is blown! You are a far better (and more active) player than you allow others to believe, and it was fantastic to work with you! We started as just the two of us, and started talking straight away, and it was clear we were on the same wavelength immediately, which is something quite rare. I feel we worked extremely well together, and our teamwork was excellent throughout. You continued this fantastic teamwork after my death to steer the Masons in the right direction, which led to victory. We made the decision immediately that you would be the one going out recruiting, not me, as it seemed more likely that I would attract night actions and that was borne out on one night at least it seems, but it may have led us to be less suspicious of Walter than we were. You did a fantastic job of looking just scummy enough to not even be considered as a Mason (and certainly not an original Mason, and thus recruiter), but not enough to land you in any serious trouble. You were an integral and major part of the Town's victory, and I look forward to playing with you again. Endgame, Kiel and, latterly, Zepher. Thank you for continuing the fight to the end; I could still see all your discussions, and your voting plan in case Redblade wasn't the last scum was sound and strategical. It was very clear how your decisions came about through discussion and bouncing ideas off each other (and with Shroudy), and it was this activity that signalled the beginning of the end. I wish I'd managed to stay alive to see this through to the end, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm pleased that I managed to stay out of the spotlight and that I didn't look townie enough for anyone to claim to, or for me to be considered as a Mason recruiter. I'm also pleased I didn't appear to be in any real group (as referenced by Chromeknight), and that any association between myself and Shroudy was completely hidden. This was a tough game for a lot of reasons, but that's no reflection whatsoever on the setup or the hosting. def I want you to know I thought this was yet again a beautifully crafted game, with great hosting, and great presentation. I'm very grateful to have been chosen to play, thank you.- 85 replies

There's always room! Welcome to the Academy.

Welcome both of you to the Academy; access granted. Having seen you're keen to review, as you've already posted a review in Town, I'm pleased to give you access. Welcome. Hi Suproc, this is the only post we've seen from you on the forums. I'll be happy to add you, but we like to know just a little bit more about our members first. Let me know here if you're still interested.

Wonderful mental imagery there!

These are fantastic and hilarious! I love the joke of having a pre-school toy and based on a violent Quentin Tarantino film, and the customisation is done extremely well. Adding in the $5 shake and a 'tasty burger' (Royale with cheese?) as accessories (along with the suitcase) are nice touches too. I will, however, move this to Special Themes, the home of DUPLO, as this (unfortunately) isn't a real License.
-
And I was going to bestow "Squasher of Dreams", but I saw you had ninja'd in there first.
-
Pie, that's hilarious, I would love to watch that fight. Could you even count Nyx in that? After all she did sort of pretend to be someone usurping a god... or something. Anyways, she packs a fair wallop as well.
-
Yes please! I'd love to quest with Nerwen again and Nyx really needs Larry right now. In fact, having both those two around her is exactly what she needs. I hope Skrall comes along too, but it'll feel a bit odd for Nyx questing without Atramor, though.
-
Nyx looks up and sees a flurry of activity over by the questboard. She first checks she's not drunk - ok, not too drunk, before meandering over and perusing the petitions. The first she sees is unsuitable, but the second looks interesting. And it involves a pub, always good. The third grabs her attention most, though. Dear old Captain Patricia. She sure was a grumpy old battleaxe, but Nyx had a grudging respect for her, especially after so many dealings. Testing for poisons didn't sound much fun, but then Nyx hadn't so far encountered anything she couldn't drink, so what could possibly go wrong? She signs her name for Quest #66, wondering if there'll be free food, and also signs her name for Quest #65 but wondering how much harm a bunch of squatters could be to the great Hinckwells. That done she quietly moves back to her chair again, smiling at Alexis and Nerwen as they chatted next to her, and wondering if she should ask Nerwen about the man she was talking to and what she'd been up to. She hears the words "Blood Healer" and starts to notice some changes in Nerwen's appearance and posture. She closes her eyes and lets the conversation wash around her, still feeling that sharp pang of pain inside, but it was at least becoming more bearable. With a sigh she opens her eyes again, and contents herself with watching the fire until an opening in the conversation presents itself.

I agree with this. It was immensely frustrating to have all the heroes thrust into the background while Arthur made it about Arthur. There were opportunities for lots of people, but some events and opportunities got overshadowed in 'Arthur's Story'. The enthusiasm is great, but I'm sure you understand the concept of a 'generous actor'.

Please don't bump four and a half year old topics to only tell us how much you want this set. Thank you.

Some time spent in quiet contemplation by the fire helped. She needed the warmth, and the gentle and unobtrusive company Hoke provided was a salve for her. His attention to the fire brought back some of the warmth inside too, and she finds herself smiling at him. She gets up, temporarily, to grab another bottle of brandy from the bar, ignoring Scheherezade's reproachful look, and returns by way of the quest board. "Thank Hel I wasn't chosen after all." she thinks to herself, considering how it would have set her back in the development of the arts she wished to master. "No more signing up for stuff drunk" she thinks to herself with an emphatic (and mildly painful) nod "I thought I gave that up a long time ago." She meanders her way back to her comfy chair by the fire near Hoke, taking gentle sips from her bottle. She sees Nerwen chatting with a bald man across the room, and although she's glad to see her, Nyx senses she probably shouldn't interrupt the pair.

Our Eurobricks High Res Hero GRogall strikes again! This time he shares with us crystal clear images of one of the most anticipated upcoming Friends sets: 41005 Heartlake High! Click on the picture or here to see more and join the discussion in the Town Forum.

Thanks for the nice review Silent Mode. This wasn't really a set I was as excited about in the new Friends range compared to the others, so it was interesting to read your take on it. Like many of the other Friends sets there's a great selection of parts here, but the colour scheme as a whole just seems a bit.. off. The additional buildings look better than the pool itself to me, play features notwithstanding, but it seems like bathroom plumbing has become a necessity these days. It would be very easy to integrate many of the other sets from the previous Friends waves into this set, which is a bonus.

Not beat it, but draw level (again). Atramor and Nyx have been on the last four quests together.
-
Yeah, Nyx really likes Nerwen, but I'd also like her to meet Guts at some point too.
-
You've forgotten Strivvi already? It was a great dynamic though (with Ellaria too), and would be even better now after Nyx, Skrall and Atramor have been through the Wren-hell. Scubacarrot, get on it right now!
-
Happy Birthday Mike!
-
Well Nyx'll probably still be around. When she finally fully sobers up she'll hopefully realise that an Invision quest won't help her at all on her route to becoming a Necromancer. It's a shame as it looks like a good quest.
-
Nyx stares. Her eyes move from an ice pack to some scruffy peg-leg and back again incredulously. An ice pack? Really? She opens her mouth to say something, but even thinking the thoughts, let alone saying the words seem too much effort. The most she can manage is a vague "no, thank you" hand wave as she shivers and moves closer to the fire.
-
In the corner the cushions stir. An empty brandy bottle clanks loudly onto the floor before rolling to rest against an intricately carved table leg. Somewhere underneath the haberdashery emerges Nyx, bleary eyed and clutching her head. She pushes away the various soft furnishings irritably before swaying to her feet. She has the presence of mind to pull out a small hand mirror to check her appearance and fix her hair, but her head is thumping. Her eyes close and she takes a few deep breaths, shaking her head and instantly regretting it. Very carefully, she walks into the main body of the hall, slightly fearful her head will roll off her shoulders at any point, and as she does so she spots a new notice. A few moments of blinking bring the text into focus, and she shrugs and signs her name for Quest 63. Nothing would make her feel better than a little death and destruction, preferably of people who deserved it. In stopping by the bar for the largest glass of water she can find, she sees Atramor, clearly in not much of a better mood than she. "Hey," and that one opening word covered so much, essentially acknowledging she was pretty sure she knew exactly how he was feeling right now "I'm considering selling my Explosive Staff, and you always seemed to like it. I'm offering it to you first, and if you make me a reasonable offer I will seriously consider it. Just.. let me know." and with a weak smile and a nod she tentatively walks closer to a chair by the fire to warm herself up a little.

I was quite perturbed in the planning stages that there wouldn't be enough genocide, so I'm happy to report that a little extra has been thrown in just to make sure. -

Although I do like the accordion, I'm also a big fan of the watering can, although that was in Scala and Belville as well.
