Hat down, nothing more to say! I never posted in Historic forum, but this is a masterpiece if ever there was one!
-
Yes, because it's so much more added value reading posts like: "OMG this T-16 is AWSOME, I'll be getting 3 of these at least", "Tie Advanced is ", "I so hope that Ventress is movie version coz I can't abide by these CW faces!!! Euh, what do you mean there was no Ventress in the movie?!" et al. Get real guys, on or off-topic, Venkefedo's posts are the only thing worth reading on these last 4 pages. A bit of adult-like conversation on an AFOL forum. And as a side note, it is still quite tangential to what is discussed here, it's not like we are discussing Ken and Barbie.

A really interesting comment to read, thanks for sharing your thoughts. A real refreshment over the usual quibble that could be read here. You might be right when it comes to Rebels, perhaps they foresee a longer future for it, I'm just thinking that too much of the audience's focus will shift to an entirely different era after Ep. VII is out that they might want to surf on the wave of that attention after the movie release...
-
Hell, yeah. Euh, because, we are AFOLs? Like, real A? I don't care about things being blown up, I care about the character development. But, to take your line of thought, this little alien that whines a lot has developed quite a relationship over time with these Mandalorians that like blowing stuff, huh? (aka. see my previous post...) On that I agree with you, I believe Disney will want to focus on post-Episode VII after the premiere, so I give a show one year.
-
Well, that's matter of opinion, I, for one, loved Ahsoka Tano and think that whatever Disney throws at us will come nowhere close to having such an engaging character. I agree she was slightly annoying in the movie, but once she grew up a little...

REVIEW: 21050 Create Your Own Architecture
Spyderlord replied to JimBee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is EXACTLY what I thought when I first saw the set, being a Lego SW fan and all. I will probably be getting this set for precisely that reason, so that's no joke at all- 55 replies

Well judging from the looks of that stormtrooper on the new box art, I beg to differ. What is portrayed on the box art doesn't strike me as an OT stormie at all.
-
Actually, when you think of it well, they do, they really do... Enough to break it, at least for me. Book example of how to save 150 euros by not buying 10 boxes of ITT
-
Hmm, I don't know what to make out of it. On one hand, you are right of course, Rebels logo is not reassuring one bit, but the Stormtrooper in Ezra's speeder bike is clearly different from the mold used in ITT. So, perhaps, just perhaps, TLG might hear the public outcry...
-
The large sets you refer to are never part of a winter wave, they are always released in the second half of the year. Stay tuned for July or August releases
-
Wow, now this is what I call a leak! It seems that stormies are OT stormies after all, the stormie in a Rebels set is a Rebel stormie and these look different! But the Disney logo in a corner of a Star Wars box really looks like a travesty, I must admit...

I bought the Ewok Village yesterday. Two large Lego sets in a week after more than a year of Lego-fasting. All SW sets are discounted in Holland during september, so I got it for 207.95 euros.

Hahahaha, thanks for cheering me up early on Sunday Special clause of the sale agreement, one last birdie to the truest fans

Your predictions on the next sets to be retired?
Spyderlord replied to Something_Awesome's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I got the biggest scare for Executor when I saw it retired on US shop@home so I went for it first, after 3 years delaying that purchase. It's a heck of an expensive set, so I grabbed the first opportunity when it went on sale here in the Netherlands. That is the prime candidate for retirement. When it comes to X-wing or MF, these are trademark ships, TLG is not going to retire them without worthy successors. Even 6212 went on forever and got retired only shortly before 9493 was launched. I'd wager TLG would sooner retire the UCS X-wing than the playset one, it's all about revenue. Similar reasons why I doubt that DS is going anywhere any time soon. How to put it... I got out of my dark ages when I (for good ol' times sake) walked into a Lego store in Koln. I was looking around and then I saw it and that was it... Love at first sight. 419e?! Blast it, this thing will be mine. It was the biggest WOW factor I experienced in a while, and I doubt that TLG is anywhere near to reproduce it. They will keep their superstar flagship, I simply don't believe they would retire it before a new Episode-VII celebrity hits the new generation... As for MF, same thing. The playset will be around until they come up with the new UCS IMHO. Which, I'd say, will come nowhere near to the Legend, but would rather be in X-Wing price- and piece- range. Rancor Pit will probably retire, remaining CW sets almost definitely. Next, 2013 sets, Gunship is not as memorable & is quite expensive etc. So to put it in order as I see it: Executor, X-wing UCS, Rancor Pit, CW remaining sets, Gunship. -
The problem is, these are not your regular stormies but sandtroopers. They are distinctively different in Lego.

Wow. With few IFs this would reflect my thoughts on the wave... The main IF is ofc stormies. If they don't f**k up with giving us this Rebel abominations, I'd take as much as my bank account can handle. I was profoundly uninterested in Shadow troopers (what are those things?!?! My Zahn is little rusty, I don't remember hearing about them...), but when I saw the pic I whistled... Black Imperials + something stormie-like, game on. I might be building a Geonosis diorama, so this caught my attention, but despite being a devotee of both PT and CW (more CW actually...) I don't remeber seeing red clones on Geonosis... The only interesting thing is actually the Tusken, as in: Great that it appears in a cheap set (I'm proufoundly uninterested in) so its price will drop on Bricklink... Hmm, I can't see a thing, but I would need a Hailfire droid for aforementioned Geonosis diorama, so I'll reserve my judgement until I see the looks of it. I can only pray you are right. Not too sound pessimistic though, I know TLG a little too good after all these years, they never fail to f-up something with outstanding potential, so, patience, plenty of time to massacre this one... Oh, well, it's a prelim. But I already have the old Tie-advanced, so pass for me. On the other hand, I really don't understand what kind of meteor needs to hit near Billund for TLG to wake up and realize that community has been screaming for a decent Tie-interceptor or bomber for almost a decade now (who still remembers the blue thingies?) Haha, spot on Amen to that, but oh well, another clanker for the army in <10$ set, who cares... And btw, I DO have a big need for a Vulture of that scale, so all of the sudden I feel like I have saved 29$ for not having to buy the 2014 Vulture that I set my eyes on (well, ok, I might steel bricklink the cute Neimodian) Hm, funny. I was among the biggest complainers on this forum when 2014 winter wave was in this phase (and after the officials also), but this can be a VERY expensive wave for me providing TLG delivers on ITT (but I know they won't anyway, so...) Potentially there's Vulture, ITT, Shadow Troopers, Hailfire, Geonosians I didn't even expect that I'd be this surprised when I first saw the list...

I somehow get the feeling that we are in for a MF at the end of next year, just prior to episode VII release where that ship would feature.
-
Mmm, I simply don't see any commercial logic in releasing highly desired UCSs just after Christmas, it is somewhat nonsensical from marketing standpoint... I would wager that Slave I will hit the shelves just in time for Christmas shopping like it was the case all these previous years with UCSs. And off-topic, this is my first post (actually second) after a long while folks, I changed countries, now strengthening the Lego community of The Netherlands!

My wife bought me the SSD! Best wife in the world , I told her it was going to retire soon and boom, got it finally!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Lost Missions
Spyderlord replied to commanderneyo's topic in Culture & Multimedia
You make some very valid points Oky, I agree mostly with you. Over-explaining the Force kinda kills its mysticism, and Yoda withholding all the info about his vision is mindbogglingly stupid. I only disagree with you about the Clovis arc, these episodes felt kind of mature, you know being 30+ you sometimes like to get some more adult-content (even if it is crossed with ridiculous jealousy fist-fights...) and I admired Emperors' chess moves, it's very political (and kind of hints to a much closer galaxy...) and well-elaborated on scheming side, with still some fun snow-surfing -
It would make sense as 20$ set if both Yoda and Sidious are present. Throw in 2 shock troopers for good measure and you've got a hell of an (expensive) army builder set.

AMEN to that, despite my love for the EU -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Lost Missions
Spyderlord replied to commanderneyo's topic in Culture & Multimedia
No, not at all. But by delibaretely violating some very popular stories and ignoring the fan base, they would. You can make a hugely successful movie as Cube1701 said without altering (or ever slightly) the existing canon. And again, I am refering to the big lines of EU, not some obscure details. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Lost Missions
Spyderlord replied to commanderneyo's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Mmm, I believe they wouldn't make a position for "Keeper of the Holocrone" if what you were saying was so black and white. They have all the interest to heed the fan base or their Episode 7 or, ok, Episode 8 more likely, can find itself dead on arrival -

I didn't put Maul because his fate will apparently be revealed in some comic book. And thanks Faefrost for the daily dose of laughter
