Care to share the country and the price (Bricklink?) october? This set is on my must have list, it's just that 400+ euros is well
-
Amen to that

I'd like to see 501st trooper BP (all 4 the same like ITT), Super Tank (never gonna happen), Tie Interceptor and Tie Bomber (I guess they'll have to do them at one point...). And yes, Tusken Attack with Javas and Tusken Raiders

List of Star Wars sets that are retiring!
Spyderlord replied to Something_Awesome's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What/who is your source Something Awesome?? I'm only surprised for Vulture Droid, it's a 2014 set, can it be that its sales are really that bad?? -
Well, quite honestly, people have been talking about the "discontinuation" of this set for almost 4 years now... I don't believe they'll retire it before they have the newer version of the same or something similarly iconic... It's just an incredibly incredibly well-executed set and TLG is veeeery much aware of the hook it presents for the future AFOLs (heck they pulled me out of the dark ages with this thing, and who knows how many others...). I'd say forget about ISD, AT-AT (they both look rubish, small and out of scale and are executed for the mass-market, not enthusiasts). Call it or not so, DS is an UCS, a beautiful display piece (although not as beautiful as the Executor) and an UNBELIEVABLY fun build. True AFOL delight.

Well, if you go to rebrickable.com and search that set, it will offer you the possibility to bricklink the parts. All vendors I saw that offer 90%+ of the needed parts start at around 190€, so no, I don't think so. Well, ok, I could have broken it down to smaller lots from cheaper sellers, but heck, I was in a town with a Lego store, there was double VIP points and I got some big book with it. Not really revealing secrets of the Master Builders, but potentially interesting at parts...

21050 Architecture Studio. And for those of you who think I'm off-topic, let's put it this way: 21050 Hoth Diorama Pack

Here Jedi Bendu, sleeping much?
-
BalrogJ, no one said Star Destroyer can destroy a star, but Sun Crasher definitely can That's where some EU lore comes in very handy
-
No, it is a Tie Jedi Bendu. A reliable source posted that info. It is somewhat unorthodox given how recent the very good (and minifigure scale) system Tie was released, but I cannot say I'm surprised TLG would opt for such commercial decision. Oh, I'm practically convinced that UCS Falcon is upcoming given the streak of X-Wing and the announced Tie. For me it's more the question of how much are we actually getting ripped-off as there is no way TLG will pull 5000+ pieces in our times and this economy...
-
Definitely! Or perhaps some other event. I have a pretty decent SW collection by now (4 years of collecting), but my problem is space for exhibiting it... And also negotiating power: my wife simply won't let me transform our living room in a proper fashion

Hey TWP! Of course I saw it, the Geonosis one was pure genious, awesome piece!! Proof that you can perfectly capture the spirit of the arena without ruining yourself with 10.000 pieces MOC! Challenge for the next one: Reek and Ackley! And was super surprised to realize that I could probably build a similar Hoth display with the sets/ spare pieces I have! I really hope that you have enough space to display these two at your place, I know that if it was me, I would really hate to put these back in the box Shame we didn't meet face-to-face though!
-
Thanks Jedi Bendu! I thought of going but it is a bit far from Amsterdam, and it was competing with Lego World in Utrecht, so I figured I'd just go there It was nice but Lego SW were seriously underrepresented.
-
Jedi-Bendu, did you see someone selling 10212 Imperial Shuttle (MISB) and at what price?? Thanks!
-
Hm, typical. X-Wing, Tie, then big game MF in 2016. Seriously TLG, how much of a foregone conclusion can you get?!! Cavegod, admit that you bribe TLG annualy, so that they don't make the bloody overdue AT-AT and I have to give in and go bankrupt on bricklink building your masterpiece...
-
Terrible practice, I wish TLG had a mechanism to prevent that... Unique retail price or something
-
I have threaded some web around here as well, so... pretty please?
-
just2good, this thread is getting brain-dead boring again, do you at least know when can we expect the pictures for Azure Angel and Hailfire droid? Thanks!
-
Haha, why thank you Fuppylodders, others have suggested me Bricklink but that doesnt solve a thing because one way or another the Iron Bank would have its due The only way to "cheat it" is with the Geonosians BPs and I don't care about the color all that much

I was about to reply but then I saw this: and this: ...so nothing to add actually, quod erat demonstrandum. This made me laugh ... and now more seriously: you want to talk data? I am a strategy analyst in a big international corporation, first lesson of strategy - trust simple logic first and excel sheets second (ever heard of Occam's razor?). No, there is zero data that could have justified this choice for the simple logic contained in Venkefedo and J.V.D. posts I quoted you. Which leaves us with one other reasonable explanation, summarized by Robianco: That leaves us with you statement with which I finally agree: And that's sadly the only weapon we have and the only tool that can showcase them their bad strategic decisions. Thus, although I absolutely LOVED the minifif of the 212th Airborne trooper, I haven't bought the 75036 set. Because, as I mentioned in a previous post, I do not want TLG to think they can get away with such a lazy design of an octuptarra droid. That was the only vote I had, and I was well saddened by the fact that I was going to miss on the airborne trooper. That's a reason I was happy as a child when I saw that they were rehashing that design for Geonosis troopers, the set that got trashed on this forum bigtime and that was the only certain day 1 purchase of the entire wave for me. I don't presume that my decision hurt TLG sales targets of 75036, but I used my vote as I could, and who knows, perhaps I wasn't the only one. TLG became a N.1 by making a selection of very good strategic decisions and an extremely agressive marketing for The Lego Movie. That is far from saying that their every strategic decision has equal economic soundness or that people who point to inconsistencies or plain irrationalities in their strategy are spoiled children. Haha, that was a good one Try learning German, Russian, let alone more exotic languages like Hungarian or such and than assert on difficulties of learning English as a second language That being said, there is a variety of reasons why someone would be prevented from using spell checking tools, so I believe that more tolerance on this forum would be welcome as long as you carefully follow one's postings and pay attention to such reasons. There are people behind nickname folks, remember that. Especially when their postings are completely understandable...

This is a very good point, I'm stunned that TLG isn't actually following this pattern. But, as I've been saying for a while, they seem to want to prevent people to army-build as part of a policy or something, it's rather out of this world that they don't realize that a BP with ISD stormtroopers would sell like 100x in volumes compared to the Rebels stormtroopers one.
-
Haha, this was exactly my feeling seeing the set with octuptarra droid last year! I thought that no amount of super-cool airborne troopers will make me disregard that lazy poor excuse for a set. So yes, Lego helped me a lot, but didn't help itself apparently. That's why they decided to re-hash that set in another color with somewhat less insulting vehicle (well, vehicle full stop, not a finger to the fans saying "we can put a half-polished turd and you'll still get it for the minifigures", because we won't). End result, I'm not helped this year at all

In my views, the only way TLG would release Jedi Temple set is as Taj-Mahal style UCS, but if that ever happens, it won't be anytime soon. I think that re-release of the Falcon UCS is way more probable than Jedi Temple. It's way more iconic, although I'd kill for a well-executed 5000+ bricks Jedi Temple...
