  1. There are quite a few things in that video. I believe I can figure out ~2000 pcs from what we saw. Two turrets, snow wall, ion canon, shield gen, gate with mechanism, control room, utility vehicles. And of course, TLG wouldn't pass up an opportunity to give us YET ANOTHER snowspeeder Add to that compulsory snow troopers with machine gun and I believe you easily have 2000+ pcs for a large playset (for purists out there ).
  2. Thanks for that. Hm, it's as I thought. TLG is going to rehash ad nauseam the external elements that have been done n times before instead of giving us a UCS-type internal structure. I can't fathom why they can do a terrific job with Endor (EV) and they don't seem to be able to apply the same formula for Hoth... On a positive note, gate looks better than 7666 and I like the "snow" elements in front of the turrets. Shield generator is decent, but on the other hand ion canon is ridiculously undersized. I seriously hope they won't include Wampa and Luke in it, they have absolutely nothing to do with Echo Base...
  3. Hey guys, I've been self-exiled from this thread for a while as I really do not want to be Ep. VII -spoiled to death. One question though: we are nearing end-July and there is absolutely no mention of the upcoming Hoth Base, how is that possible? For a set that's due out in November, it's very hard to believe not a single prelim pic has leaked...
  4. Ok guys, you are both civic people I've dealt with before, so I'll assume the role of a blue beret here. Jedi-Bendu, you cannot tell Fupps to relax after you've fed him your previous post. You patronized, he retorted, it's basic Newton. And his reply was far from groundless, so to borrow a nice Dutch allegory, sometimes it's showing strength to recognize you were letting a bit too much steam off and well, backpedal... Fupps, in this instance you were in the right ok, but if you fight fire with fire language-wise, no one's the smarter. If after fair warnings and positive approach you do not find a receptive ear and you think that someone post(s) is infringing on rules & mods' guidelines, report it (them), rather then starting a flame war. Tolerance people, we are here united in the same passion, let's not take our daily frustrations to fellow bricklovers at the slightest affront or if they do not see the things our way.
  5. Haha, I could have sold you a sealed in box 7672 Jedi-Bendu, I live in the same Outer Rim as you do and have been keeping one unopened coz the ship really doesn't fit with anything else in my collection (that's what you get when you have a SINGLE ship from a given franchise...) Although I still value mine more than 40€ for sure Great find btw!
  6. Wording. The "quite yet" when that CSR knew very well that DS 2008 is set to retire. So either you give a neutral wording without revealing any info on retirement or you put "for the current year"and/or "while supplies last".
  7. That is a horribly misleading post and I cannot fathom that a CSR would choose such a wording. I have heard from a wider variety of sources (in different European countries) that DS is retiring at the end of this year, so "not [...] quite yet" is in my book a VERY pretentious formulation, even by sales/marketing standards.
  8. Well you know what they say: where there's smoke, there's fire...
  9. I went to a Lego Store yesterday and asked that same question. The answer "kinda" surprised me: only confired for now is the DS. I followed up with a question about that being related to the rumors of retirement and a a potential new DS next year and he said that's what they've been told and that's why they tell people that DS is most certainly the one to be discounted. Also, it is "highly unlikely" that any set would be discounted more then 10%.
  10. All a question of point of view I suppose. There are some of us old OT fanatics to whom Ahsoka is the best thing that happened to SW since the elder days
  11. +1. But cannot say `i care much as I never bought a set from Ep. I...
  12. Let's put it this way: if ever there was a month ever since I joined this forum when exactly nothing happened that would be this past month. Notwithstanding huge (semi) off-topic spoiler discussion for TFA. Edit: Gremer beat me to it...
  13. Thanks a lot! Never even heard of them! First Toys'r'us then these, they want to bleed us
  14. Hey TWP, where's the 2+1 happening in Holland??
  15. Hi, you can use this website, I find it useful: http://www.brickulus.com/parts/upload/ Otherwise, there's a program called LDD Manager that can do that.
  16. Wow, thanks Regimus! Funnny that these are exactly the UCSs I was never (ok, I'l admit a small sin, except 10175) attracted to!
  17. Well, I agree with most of the opinions expressed. 1) Put it at same price level as Slave I and The Tumbler (ToO, etc.)? LOL 2) Price/piece ratio? LOL 3) Blocky cockpit, the WIP TIE by sparkart is exactly how I imagined they would do an UCS, I cannot fathom why they chose this approach. 4) Scale, what the beep? Has there been any example in SW line where a vehicle was larger than minifigure scale?? I mean in large sets, not counting that silly AT-RT? I love TIEs, and I believe there's no worse judgement on this set than saying I would rather shell out 200€ when aftermarket prices hit that level on 9492 than on this thing... I would get a to-scale set (+/-), an imperial officer and less blocky cockpit. Someone said they foresee a 50% clearance on this one after a year, I'd disagree. I foresee an EOL in a year time and 50% clearance next Christmas. I am a strategy analyst and would seriously never understand TLG's sales strategy. "We have an X-Wing, now all AFOLs will want an UCS TIE Fighter and we can price it at the same level". No guys, not how it works, AFOLs are not AFOOLS. Some market research would spill you things like AT-AT, new MF UCS and so on... But hey, just send us another classical AFOL survey and analyze it through pink glasses. Again.
  18. I have no problems with super-weapons, but some creativity bitte schoen. I'd say bring it on to say... Sun Crusher? :)
  19. No, Hoth base would and should replace Ewok Village. Fuppylodders, I am with you 100% on this one. I will probably believe it when I see official pics. As stated in my previous post, it makes absolutely no sense to have a bigger one while the other still sells well, minifigure argument notwithstanding. Besides, I believe (if anyone can confirm it, please do) that some DS minifigs have been slightly updated since 2008. I do understand a need for TLG to have a flagship product, especially with the new movie around the corner, but then, I'd assume they'd want something iconic from that movie and seriously, as also stated in my previous post, a third DS in SW universe would be, together with a possible Sheeve's resurrection, reason enough not to go to theaters, and yes, we are talking Star Wars here...
  20. Hmm, now that would be news I was refering to if it wasn't an April Fool's joke. just2good says he's serious, it just makes no sense to me from commercial standpoint: this one is still widely available, very expensive and honestly not much improvement is needed. Raise the price point (which is bound to happen if indeed much bigger piece count) and you are clearly in AFOL territory. And AFOLs already have a Death Star (heck, some even two...)!! This news makes no sense to me with UCS AT-AT still missing, without even getting to the whole CC discussion. The only way it would kinda make sense is if TFA resurrected a DS. But that, with resurrected Palpatine is sort of a plot point that makes a true SW fan put a new movie on the same plane of interest as a sequel to Starship Troopers so it better not be true...
  21. Does anyone recall a more uneventful month news-wise than this past March?! I mean we had a tiny bit of news on March 1st and zilch since then. I really hope April will bring us something, this thread really deviates when there are so little news... @nrg, Sir von Lego, just2good: do you even know when we'll see the Hoth base prelims? I guess that Sith Interceptor Infiltrator leaks are pretty much imminent and for TFA I know (well, have a strong hunch...) they'll keep the lid tight until the release, but it would be nice if we got a little something about the next UCS/large playset to chew on meanwhile...
  22. Wait, let's not rush things, I was absolutely delighted ANH Yularen was being released, but Thrawn?! Thrawn would start an AFOL war on the release day in all Lego stores concerned TLG would never realease one because it would be a safety hazard, not because he's not Donald canon!
  23. That's very old news and Admiral Yularen may be a background character for some, but considering what passes for "background character" in SW universe, anyone who appears in one of the most iconic scenes of the whole saga wearing a stunning white imperial uniform moreover has honestly nothing "background" about him IMHO, even if we disregard what an important figure in the hierarchy of the Empire he is and the role he had in the CW. I, for one, was jumping of joy when his release was announced as Motti and Tagge are quite easy to represent in DS conference room by generic imperial officers (different hair piece perhaps), but Yularen, Yularen is quite unique. Not to mention, as someone already pointed out, the potential for making Admiral Thrawn in different MOCs. Because whatever Disney says/does, Thrawn will always be as much part of the SW universe as Vader is to the true fans of the saga .
