  1. Just be glad I have no influence over the giving of titles, Ms. Mandy Lori Ann! Now, go get your Adams on, time's a wastin'!
  2. I must be getting old, I'm not even sure of the difference here, but they both look great to me.
  3. When I first came out of my dark ages, I was buying a set and the cashier asked me if it was a gift or not. She was cute, I was stupid, it made me just embarassed enough to say 'yes' and leave it at that, with the idea being that it was a gift, to me from me. The experience lingered in my mind though. I'd been collecting the Hasbro SW toys for years and it never bothered me to make it widely obvious that they were mine, but somehow there seemed to be more acceptance of that. I really do think it comes down to those silly age range suggestions on LEGO. That said, it bugged me for a while, and then I literally cussed at myself for being so stupid and now I proudly proclaim that they're mine at any opportunity. I'll stand in the aisle and talk parents into buying it for their kids. I'll talk to other potential AFOLs and sometimes I can tell they're lying about having kids, but I figure they'll grow out of any embarassment too, just like I did. Think about it for a minute. It's your money, it's your life, who gives a megablock what some employee somewhere thinks? It's good to be open about who you are. I made a point of introducing LEGO into my current relationship very early on, just in case I would experience a weird response. Fortunately, I'm good at selling ideas sometimes, and managed to make it look just as cool as it is, so I never had to deal with that complication. Bottom line: Embrace the brick. Love the brick. Be the brick! Crazy Philosophy On! *y*
  4. I used to save the bags too... *wacko* I'd carefully open them, either top or bottom at the seam, pulling evenly and gently to prevent unnecessary ripping, then when I was all done, I'd put all the small ones in the larger ones until I was down to as few seperate parts as possible. Then they would go in the box. I throw them away now, unless they're from polybagged sets. I still keep those, and definitely open them neatly to prevent damaging the pretty picture on the front. X-D Not a word. Not a single word... I'm warning you! >:-(
  5. Interviews are edited and posted on a reasonable schedule in accordance with the spirit and nature of the forums. We don't need to rush them, nor do we want people to feel like they're overwhelmed by the number of them presented. Each interview is special and will be treated accordingly. Megablock set, eh? At least there's no worry that I'll actually open it. I'm not even sure it's legal in this country to mail dangerous materials like that, so I'm sure customs will refuse the megablocks. :-P
  6. I like them all, as well as Anakin's JSF, which is also partially yellow. I'm hoping for a yellow postal bike, motorcycle, or delivery truck. It isn't really about the yellow though, I just miss the old post theme. Last one I got in on was red, so it's a change too. Post On! *y*
  7. We couldn't actually afford a stunt double, so that's your twin brother Stinky! *looks around* Whoa, I just had a flashback to another thread ... *wacko*
  8. Excellent review! Showed everything in detail then added a fun twist at the end. Another set I pretty much knew I needed to buy is confirmed. *y*
  9. Always the last to know ... ;-) Oh no... I'm at that phase now. I've even been opening sets I'm not ready to display, putting the contents into gallon ziplock bags, then sliding that back in the box and using the spare room (usually half the box) to hold smaller boxed sets. I got a lot of room out of things like the TIE collection that way. I really hoped it would be enough to save me, but your post is like a vision of the future yet to be... :'-( Thanks! This interview helped show that pretty much everyone here was already a little whacked before the Whacker and the Walrus even started officially. Staudie asked some questions and collected information, but he wasn't sure what angle to take on this one, so I just sort of winged it. In the past, he's asked all of the questions, so it was nice for him to get a little break, if you can call the snake pit a break >:-)
  10. For this airing, we'll try something new with the fonts, just like we always do, which doesn't make it particularly new, but who asked you? >:-( This time, I'm in blue italics, both when speaking normally and when heckling Staudie, he'll be in festive halloween orange when asking questions and generally being annoying, our esteemed guest Jocko will be commenting in green to match his hat, and Hinckley will be in red to match that spot on his head where the troll kept whacking him in his excellent Dwarves Mining Comic! Welcome to another exciting episode of EB Community News, I'm your host, imperialshadows, and standing over there in that big pit of snakes is cub reporter Staudie, practicing for some upcoming Indiana Jones related work. At least that's the excuse I'm using for making him do that. >:-) Tonight, we're joined by none other than Jocko, best known for his ability to put up with Hinckley, but after this interview you'll see just how much more than that he really is, so let's get started! In a slightly different twist, I'll be asking a lot of the questions tonight, but between snake bites, Staudie will be pitching in as well, so watch those fonts and know who you're reading! Q. Before diving into the LEGO portion of the program, let's find out about one of your hobbies, and an impressive one at that. Tell us all about that incredible pond and waterfall project Hinckley was kind enough to share with us. A. It was a mission I had to create a cool creek, waterfalls, and pond in our sloping front yard. Once we moved in, I just started digging and didn
  11. That's sort of what I meant. Movie sets often give the illusion of being larger than they are, but manage it within a confined space (or at least they did before computers took over). This is just an amazing work of lighting and perspective.
  12. This is one of those MOCs so detailed and grand in scale that it looks like it should be a movie set. Absolutely love the detail and lighting. *y*
  13. Sometimes I wonder if we all live on the same planet. ;-)
  14. Hope it was a great one and full of plenty of wonderful presents and the obligatory cake, assuming you like cake, and who doesn't? *y*
  15. I just pull my shorts down low and turn around my baseball cap. It isn't working so well anymore, but at least people are staring for a different reason. :-$
  16. Geez, every point you just made had been said previously, can't you read the whole thread? :-| What a numbnutz! >:-( Some losers really need to just go away and leave the posting to professionals! *wacko* Disclaimer: The previous paragraph is a bad example of how to reply in said situation, especially to one of those globally moderiffic types like Der. Hinckmeister. A good whacking, however, is perfectly acceptable ;-)
  17. Welcome to our little corner of LEGOland pops! X-D Ok, ok, I'm about your age as well ;-) Ah, excellent, two more being raised properly and brought into the world right with LEGO. Hopefully they love it as much as you, or did they get you into it? I've always wondered if that happened, some perfectly normal adult never exposed to LEGO suddenly gets infected by exposure to their children's collection. Of course having kids probably makes buying LEGO look a bit less unusual as well, but then you have to share it with them. Tough balance there ;-) And on that note, have fun, we do! *wacko*
  18. Welcome! It's good to have another senior member around here to help keep those kids in line *y* Never had a homemaker set, but as I get older, for some odd reason they look more and more appealing. I think it's just a desire to make furniture and develop my real world building skills instead of always focusing on fantasy. As for space, personally I just plan to move into Hinckley39's basement when he isn't looking, but don't tell him I said that ... ;-)
  19. Welcome! I'm willing to overlook your Bionicle affliction if you make an effort to keep up the puns and not move on to poetry. That would be like going from bad to verse. X-D
  20. Any idea why neither of those links leads anywhere useful, to the extent that the first one takes you to a domain registry that claims the address is both available and free. I could literally sign up for it right now, if I was so inclined. A bit odd, isn't it? Edited to indicate further investigation: I see the problem with the first link, it's the curse of el typographologica, you apparently angered the keyboard gods and meant this ... http://www.wakeofdestiny.co.nr/ However, the site still isn't coming up, and neither are the forums. Edited again because LBaixinho snuck in a post before me. I'm just going to keep editing this one until I roll over the counter. I wonder where it rolls over at :-P Edit #3: I really thought it had a counter for number of edits. Oh well.
  21. Well now you're just really confusing things. Beastboy is female. *wacko* Whatever you are, from wherever you've come and however you got here, welcome! ;-)
  22. Reports indicate that early #'d UCS Falcons have a bag of extra wings, so I probably have those. Beyond that, it's always just been a bit here or there, some better than others. Had a spare Royal Guard torso once, for example. I do, however, usually get a lot of extra parts in eBay orders. Last time it was "Oh, I found these and thought you'd like them" which translated to a free Hoth Harry, a Jedi Luke, a Tatooine Luke, a Dr. Kilroy, and someone else in a $15 order that was already worth a lot more than that. No complaints there. Freebies On! *y*
  23. Both are very nice and maximize the minimal parts count. #1 is definitely the steampunkiest of them though, thus getting my vote. *y* If this was a mecha or minifig based effort, it'd be all about #2. Nice work, both of you! *y*
  24. We aren't considered dorky enough as it is, we need to introduce D&D to the mix? Count me in. *y*
  25. Absolutely beautiful, great find! Someone really does need to contact this builder and get them over here if they aren't already. Looking at their other work you get a very professional, well polished feeling from the planning, construction and all the way through the photography. English Pirate Port On! *y*
