Preference of Imperial Guard Epaulette colour
Shadows replied to Peg Leg Pascoe's topic in LEGO Pirates
I use the officially recommended colours. The only exception are a few I've done with white ones and adventurers pith helmets to serve in India. They look pretty good, for such a simple adjustment (and probably not the least bit historically accurate). -
I'm sorry folks, Staudie forgets that we can't carry on when he forgets to interview people, so he seems to think that we don't have an interview ready, but in fact, I do. A good one too. That's what professional television personalities do. :-P I'm not even sure what he has against the poor guest, especially since he might not even know who it is, but I'm completely immune to such bowel distress. Though I am feeling a bit funny ... 8-| 8- *goes off to use Staudie's dressing room bathroom while yelling, "Stay tuned for the next big interview ... tomorrow!"*

Perhaps a good time to remind potential buyers of items offered through this forum to visit some of the helpful pinned threads in this section, like: Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List Bricklink Trusted Sellers List And don't forget this one simple rule. Thanks! :-)

Blast it all, you're on to me ... X-D As for printed torsos, I just like them. I do wish they would sell unprinted torsos through Pick-a-Brick the same way they sell legs. I'd love to have every colour ever made, but that isn't likely to happen. I know I could brasso a lot of worn ones back to solid, but I've never been able to bring myself to modify a part, even though I did buy the brasso for just that purpose. One day... maybe. ;-)

Well, my first Brickmaster set arrived today and I was surprised on two counts. First, it's in Brickmaster packaging. Basically an oversized bagged set with 'BrickMaster' emblazoned across the top. Second, it's set 20001. First I've seen of a set in the 20 thousands before. Ages 6+ 103 Pieces No clue what to name it. It's basically a small blue flying mech, much like the kind you'd get in a pod set, except LEGO has done the unthinkable and is using minifig leg assemblies as fingers. *can sense the despair in poor Sinner's heart, even before he reads this* 8-

Quick and direct review, thanks and welcome to EB! It is a nice little set and one I'll certainly pick up a few of, but because of the hat printing, I don't see it being useful in large quantities. Had they left off the stars and maybe considered something on the torso, it's be a much better selection. The ability to plan sets in such a way as to make them appeal to fans of other themes, thus increasing potential sales, and even possibly luring someone over to a new theme, is something LEGO desperately needs to work on. Imagine this torso with a very simple robe looking print and suddenly it appeals to Castle fans who want peasant/civilian/robed characters and Star Wars fans in search of new generic Jedi. Double your market all in one shot. I'll keep preaching this until someone sees it and listens (hey, someone reads this forum or they wouldn't have quoted my Imperial Crapship crack, so maybe they'll be smart and take some good advice here). Seriously LEGO, write me, I can tell you some things that won't cost much and will lead to a fairly strong sales result. All without having to create anything new, pure intelligent recycling.

The most exciting star wars comic ever, starring..you!
Shadows replied to General Zen's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Sounds like fun! *y* As host of the insanely popular EB News Presents, my acting services are in great demand, but I suppose I can make time to work in this production as well. As per my standard agreement, I get full script approval, a small but reasonable share of the profits, and my own dressing room. X-D For backstory, please feel free to check this fascinating episode of EB News Presents where I interview ... me. *wacko* My sigfig may be viewed here. Since this is a Star Wars production, the hat may be replaced with a brown hood, which still works well for my role as a mysterious character with an unknown past and questionable motives. A spy? An assassin? A rebel? A smuggler? You decide. As for weapons, I'm perfectly comfortable with anything from a blaster to a lightsaber. -
These are very nicely done and could be quite useful in the new Indy line. Would you consider fleshie versions for that purpose? (and to make iamded squirm) :-P

The rebels with their bobsled have visors, someone just got lazy on the bulk army portion. It's also interesting to note that there are far more of the long rifles displayed than the pistols, even though they come in even quantities in the sets. The visor on the LEGO version just serves to create the look of the real helmets. The real ones would be moveable, I assume (though they may have just been there to create the look for the movie and couldn't be moved either).

Very nice recreation of the battle! That Qui-Gon officer makes me realise just how perfect he'd be as a sailor, for some reason, I think it's the hat. A fine choice there and I would agree that the cotton method actually works here, which is quite an accomplishment. *y* I laughed. Out loud. Too loudly. :-$

During the early days of cds, the mid 80s, I bought a lot. As time passed and music seemed to drift out of my personal tastes, I kept up with the remaining artists who were still staying true to what I liked and have, more recently, bought a handful of cds a year, tops. I've also had to replace some of those early discs, not because of poor care or scratching, but because Atlantic records (the primary culprit thus far) did a very poor job producing them and they're now literally deteriorating (held up to light, you can see through them like trying to make a cd in braille). I would say that I've easily purchased 600+, so I don't really need much more to listen to than that. Oh, and the missing option, which you'll say fits in 'shops' is to be given large quantities of them. On top of the aforementioned purchases, I've probably been given another 200 from a wide range of genres, though it's rare I find something in there that I love enough to keep it in regular rotation. I don't do portable music, so I don't need to purchase individual encoded tracks. What an odd question this was. |-/

Of the few titles I've had any influence in, that's my favourite. *sweet* *y*

Angst over more blue pins
Shadows replied to Dannnohhh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Welcome to EB! Now... take a deep breath. That's better. *y* I haven't noticed the change at all, but I'm not heavily into technic. Just stock up, and in the meantime, I'm sure someone will come along who agrees with you. Until then, keep taking deep cleansing breaths. ;-) -
Not yet, but I keep hoping ;-)

Sinner is exactly right there. *y* That said, I'd use visor colour as a sign of rank and mix it up a bit, including black or at least trans-smoke. Better still ... RED >:-)

PLEASE READ-There is no phishing scam
Shadows replied to ScottManDeath's topic in Forum Information and Help
That's weird!! *wacko* -
I don't even write the questions to the interviews and no one told me he had changed them, I just knew from reading them that they weren't the usual ones. Know what I mean ??? ;-) Speaking of which, I encourage anyone answering one of these interviews to feel free to mix it up some. Add a question, write a short essay explaining your view on something important to you, reword something, fix some spelling :-|, have fun with it! If it stinks, I'll just edit it out anyway, but odds are, it'll be good. ;-)

I knew I could count on a true professional stage actor to understand the show. *sweet* And my ego, and Staudie's need to be abused. This show does a lot more than I realised! X-D

You know, that sounds really interesting. Please be sure to share those with us when you've got 'em done! *y*

Love this set now more than ever. *wub* I knew I wanted it from the first leaked boxshots, especially with my love of yellow buildings (just ask Hinckley ;-) ). Great review, especially nice to see the closeup parts shots. Those new 2x2 white windows are very much like replacements for the classic 2x2 windows TLG stopped regularly making a while back, so it's great to see them. The wheels are trolley wheels, common in sets including stretchers and handcarts. The holder for them is a fairly recent part I think. I remember a couple coming in a little single minifig jet engine repair set I picked up in a S@H order within the last year. Oh honey, be sure to wrench that chicken before it burns! *wacko* Thanks for another excellent review of a set I'm even more excited about than before! *y*

Has Indiana Jones made ancient history of Johnny Thunder?
Shadows replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Licensed
I can already hear Hinckley's mind working on a new comic series based on this. ;-) I would have to agree there. In many cases, it seems that TLG makes decisions based on what will work best with children (the supposed reason for the bley fiasco and 'juniorization'), but in the case of Indiana Jones, I think it was purely name recognition, movie association, and to some extent, a way to prey on the Star Wars AFOL crowd. I don't disagree with the concept, but I think it does bode poorly for JT's future. You're right, the Indy movies are violent, way too violent for the age range associated with the sets themselves. I've always found that concept weird, sort of like selling a Terminator line of toys aimed at kids, for an R rated movie. JT really was a more innocent form of the concept, one devoid of nazis, religion, and graphic violence. In this day and age, innocence doesn't seem to be considered important, as kids are surrounded by things that aren't age appropriate constantly. Actually, if TLG is smart, they'll finally get around to dropping those age recommendations on their sets before they start losing an even larger portion of the target audience who doesn't want to be associated with things that aren't "older" as opposed to their own age. As the official keeper of the Big Billboard o' Doom -
Good, straightforward review of a simple but useful set. I'd personally say 7/10 for minifigs is right, but I'd actually go the other way and give it an 8 if it had just included 4 stormies, and a 9 if 2 of those had sandtrooper gear. I don't care for the shadowtrooper that much, go figure. Still, it'll be nice having a few more cheap. *y* As for the stickers ... *sigh* Not only are they annoying to apply, likely to peel and wear, and just generally cheap looking, but I think it's also why we're getting stuck with those blasted smooth slopes now as well. I really hate them, especially in this case. I wouldn't have minded having a big pile of parts with imperial and rebel logos on them, but instead we get a standard spare part and a sticker that I don't want to apply. >:-( All in all, the set redeems itself with the minifigs, but otherwise... bleh. :-/ I called it in the Imperial Crapship for a reason. :-| Bottom line ... I give the set a surprisingly high 7/10, purely for army building: I've wanted piles of cheap stormtroopers and I'll get them. Now how about cheap E2 clones and snowies, huh TLG? I promise to say nice things about those sets if you make them. Honest. ;-)

What would you pay extra for the box
Shadows replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'll pay a little extra for a set in a box, if it's something I intend to keep in it's original build (my first set of just about anything). Somehow, an unboxed set doesn't feel like a set at all, it just seems like something someone put together out of spare parts. For spares, I'd treat an unboxed set like a parts lot and pay less accordingly. Instructions are an entirely different story. I download them from LEGO, I download them from Peeron or that place in the Netherlands, but I also like having a printed set, even more than a box. I would actually pay a fair amount more for some of the better boxes, the kind with trays and inserts and a nice heavy flap lid with all the extra action shots and alternate builds. Those are a work of art. *wub* -
Everyone's a critic. :-| Seriously, with this writer's strike, it's tough for us show hosts to come up with decent scripts, but we're doing the best we can. :-P
