Killing the Dead Contest Semi-finals POLL
Shadows replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
... and now the world knows it's little. 8- -
Finally, a good use for all those extra Captain Redbeards I've got sitting around. I'm not even going to mention the wizard hat. *sweet* See? I didn't mention it. X-D BBQ On! *y*
-
Death Cab for Cutie - Earth Angel ... and the rest of the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack. Excellent stuff if you like 50s music done by ecclectic modern groups, but with the respect they deserve. *y*

Very nice reclassification of supplies formerly intended for industrial use into the ever-growing military sector, and quite a nice little first line of defense. I especially enjoy all of the backstory and details you provide. I'm not surprised to see Sinner commenting on in, as I've previously noted how well he does the same. It's that added depth to a creation that can push it from just being a nice build into the realm of realism. Great job! I know that when I'm conducting business in Tabletown, I'll feel safer just knowing that such forces exist to keep down the unwashed masses and any invading armies. *y*

He's preparing to fight off a band of charging villagers carrying torches, of course! 8-

How do you say hello in german? Oh well, Hello!
Shadows replied to Jabbabob's topic in Hello! My name is...
Welcome to the land where everything mixes well but Megabloks ;-) Kinda want to build that guy out of LEGO now. Let's see, Nestle Quik head, basic black cap and body, white hands. Just need to see if Fabuland made a rolling pin and spoon. -
There goes all of my street credibility, after I worked so hard building it up. :-P Oh, and they already know I'm something, they just don't know what. X-D

If I wanted fake LEGO, I'd be on a fake LEGO forum, not here. Fake LEGO Off! *n*

Thanks to ImperialScouts for putting up with him? WHAT ABOUT ME? *wacko* *wacko* *wacko* Yes, that was a subtle hint. :-| ;-)

Freaks? Where? *glances back a post* OH! Well sure, we're freaks, but loveable ones! Especially if you have implements of whacking! In other words... Welcome! Have fun! Visit often!

Welcome to another exciting episode of EB News Presents (have you ever noticed that I call them all exciting? It's in my contract). I'm your host, imperialshadows. Tonight, our cub reporter Staudie will be interviewing ImperialScouts, who you can see arriving now, or we're being invaded. Either way. Welcome! Please, have a seat and we'll get started. Q. Why the name and the Faceless sigfig? (Sure its original..) A. Actually, he's not faceless. He has a face! Look, here it is! Right here. He is my Historical Side. He also goes to this secondary sigfig, who is my Ocean Side: He's not that original :-D The name should be pretty obvious. Star Wars Imperial Scout Trooper. It's my favorite type of Empire soldier, despite my rank in the Rebellion X-D . Q. How long have you collected lego? A. Hmm, quite a while now! I guess I started when I was around 4-5. I'm not really sure, but I can remember at least building Deep Sea Refuge! Q. What is your favourite Set? (Say top 3) A. My favorite set? You've got the nerve to ask such a thing! All my sets are equally loved and favored. But to break the balance, here they are: 1. Imperial Star Destroyer, 13 hours of buildtime and one of the most fun builds I ever had. 2. Black Sea Barracuda, I bought it last year, and it was a bunch of fun to build. My first large tall ship. The first ship being the Imperial Flagship! 3. Sabre Island, perhaps. It's a neat little set. Right now, it's been fixed unto a port for the set of my movie. Albeit it's change (lack) of pieces. Q. What is your Favourite Theme? A. Star Wars, it was always a fun theme to build and play with. Star Wars, was my favorite movie series, and still is. So, Star Wars Lego with its many great, unique pieces! *Pikeman Larry appears, continuing his quest for eternal peace* You guys mind if I take care of this? Sure, be our guest. He already is our guest. Shut up. Larry: Who are you guys? Larry: Hey! HEY! Stop that! Take that, you evil ghost! *throws Larry out of the studio* He'll be back... So... back to the interview. Q. Best In Real Life Lego Moment? A. LegoLand, maybe? Or the incredibly surprising NMRA event, with a huge lego display right next to my hotel. (I was in Cincinatti for a Star Wars music concert!) Q. Best EB Moment? A. Eh, well, there are many. But I really liked the Mystery Ship game, I just had a blast with that. Poor Stinky. Q. If you could design a custom set, what would it be? Whatever you want. No "Wack a EB member" sets please. A. If I could design a custom set, I would probably make a Mon Calamari ship, or a large Pirate ship. It could go either way. Or both X-D ! But to be a suck up to the EB community, let's make a EB community set! Good idea. It'll feature your sigfig kissing the butts of all the admins for making such a suggestion. :-P Q. Have you met any EB members? Can you describe them to us? Are they "Crazy...lol" ? A. No, I haven't had the chance to meet any EB members. Some of them are pretty close to me, like Hinckley and Sir J the Noble. But I could probably say that meeting somebody who I have talked with over the internet would be fun and cool. Or creepy. Don't forget creepy. Q. Can we see your lair? Please? Lemme guess... You have no lair... A. I do, in fact have a lair (more like my bedroom...uhm, you'll see in the pictures), and I can show it to you. Look, here it is! Upp, too late, you missed it. Oh, it's down here: This is all my lego with me currently, really. Just that. Ignore what is in the blue box. Look away: This is an overview of my sleeping/computer/building/filming area: Look, I'm filming! It was actually a test animation of a cannon firing: A corner, note the pirate book at the side of my bed! I get a pretty good view of the city(Can you guess what it is!?): LOOK AT THIS! A silly little cloud decided to ruin the cloudless day! I also made a pumpkin, which is outside on a balcony. He's quite nifty: A smiling Shy Guy? But beware...: Uh huh, spooky. This is my old room, it's quite empty besides the lego and my fish, and the tape dispenser. The big piece of paper that sailor is holding says "Please do not touch Lego" for our house predators/viewers.The spotted wall paper is a white background with a series of anchors all around! Isn't that office chair in my new home? Maybe so: There's my ISD! Q. Am I annoying? A. Should there be a time and place where we would meet, I could most likely annoy you more than you can annoy me. Nah, I don't find you annoying. Hey, could you stop poking me? Actually, he can't. It's in his contract. Q. So, whats the difference between, Redcoats and bluecoats? X-D A. Red coats, they are the pride and brave soldiers of Generic Country Number 1, they'll fight 'till the end until they are able to make forts out of the dead to protect themselves from the enemy. (Is that too gross?) The Blue coats are the brave sailors and soldiers taking to the sea to claim land for Generic Country Number 2. They'll just about go anywhere! Staudie is colourblind. Q. Who should we Interview Next? A. You should interview our other pirate fans. Like Mr. Tiber, Bonaparte, or phred, or Cap'n Green Hair, or...or...etc.!! Well then, won't our next interview be a surprise! So there you have it, a colourful and, as he requested, picture filled interview with ImperialScouts! In the future, we will vary the amount of pictures based on the preference of the guest, just as we have tonight, so every show will be different. Thanks again for joining us! Next week we'll be featuring the much anticipated and requested interview with ... *signal dies*

Absolutely great! The contrast of smooth bright plastic and rough natural stone taken just the right lighting gives it an otherworldly look, and yet it seems like it fits perfectly. A few pictures, no dialogue, yet a complete story told. Great job! *y*

These are great! They remind me of characters in some kind of crazy retro-futuristic video game. It's nice to see so many non-traditional elements and themes combined into one cohesive fighting force. Do you plan to expand into the kinds of enemies they might face?

Exactly. When building in the Tudor or half-timbered style, it's important to think in the way of the builder. You're basically putting up a framework, strong and solid but largely hollow, much like modern house construction, but instead of building something outside and inside of that, you're filling the gaps between those supports with plaster. In your example, the red serves as ox blood plaster. To this day I don't know what LEGO thought would be commonly used to make the yellow variety, nor am I asking. :-X As for the technique. It's interesting, and might have some potential, but it needs to sit a couple of plates lower on top, and doesn't need to be used at all on the bottom. Instead, you need to use some crossbeams about 3/4's to 4/5's of the way down and then a different colour to represent a stone foundation under that. Reading back, I'm as clear as mud. Hope you get something out of this.

Three options. 1. Save the threads themselves and put all of them in a folder together, so you'll always have both a copy of the interview *n* and my creative editing *y* 2. Copy and paste the text in the pms to notepad. Save. Rinse. Repeat. 3. I'm a moron, spammer! >:-( *wacko*

Take it off baby, take it ALL off! >:-) Oh, and congrats to the fair maiden who captured the cup and our hearts. *wub* Still think she'd look better in the slave Leia costume ... ;-)

I might agree to a point. If Staudie makes any more commercials, they may all go in one EB News Commercials thread. The pikeman, however, will just have to stay until he kills Staudie finds eternal peace. If it gets out of hand, it'll go in another thread too, some kind of "Continuing Story of the Haunted Pikeman of EB News Studios. That actually sounds like a decent idea. Maybe a backstory explaining how he died and why he thinks killing Staudie would resolve that, leading up to some kind of resolution of his tormented situation. This would be a good time to mention that such suggestions and comments are welcomed and will sometimes even be considered. Maybe. ;-)

Sinner is dead on here, that really is the best MOC in the last comic (since the treehouse isn't new and all). Each one of these you post is driving me more and more toward my facade concept idea, in the scale of Cafe Corner, but just a movie style shell. It's a homeowners association nightmare come true, and for that it's achieved perfection! And you're right Hinckley, the heads in the railing ... *wub* (and stolen into my mental MOC repository). Spooktacular On! *y*

I'm almost certain I've already suggested you to the resident annoyer, er, reporter. Though between that "I don't think you're annoying" and asking for it, you just went right to bottom of the list, buddy! >:-( Ok, ok, kidding... :-P You interview whoever you're lucky enough to get to reply :-P Seriously though, there are a lot of good interviews left to be done and you're one of them (so am I, for that matter, but that's going to be one serious freakshow of a job and isn't going to happen for a while). Now if only I could find a good reporter to do them X-D

I can't remember if it was actually stated in the book or not, but to me the red floor is much like the red painted decks of a pirate ship, designed to hide the blood, or in this case, symbolize that the polite cow standing before you is about to be slaughtered for your eating pleasure. Deep, huh? *wacko*

The last defence of Outpost 7709 against the pirates from Strife
Shadows replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Looks like someone took the word campaigning a bit too seriously, or maybe they're just chicken :-P All I'm saying is that since we already know whose is whose anyway, giving each participant the chance to show off their work in detail would give the voters a better opportunity to make up their minds, fully informed and might just balance the playing field a bit. If the MOC is the important part, we need to see all of it. Just because someone has more experience picking the money shots for their entry, doesn't mean the other person didn't build a better MOC, it just means they may have had a harder time showing it off. Speaking of which, did you ever post the detailed shots of yours? Unholy innuendo alert, Batman! No, I'm leaving it, you know what I mean. ;-) Oh, and I'm stalking Sinner, but you keep getting in the way. :-P Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go throw this skirt in the dryer. -
I'll have the meatloaf special, Grandma Gyl. Oh yes, lots of gravy. *y* Great job as always Hinckley, and personally I've given serious consideration to an entire town of just half building shells, all lined up like a studio backlot. This would do nicely and just might be stolen liberally :-$ ;-) I've also eaten in one of these places, and they really are tiny, greasy, and the food was surprisingly good.

I would have voted for this, without a doubt, just on principle. I almost built it myself (though I would have been stuck for how to ldraw it without fabuland figs in the system), both for the possibility of using a similar title and because it's so thoroughly exposes the genius/madness of DA. Great job! *wub* Talking Hamburger On! *y*

Welcome to EB! Please take a seat, or lie down if you would feel more comfortable. *taking notes* So, how does that make you feel? *wacko* *y*

The last defence of Outpost 7709 against the pirates from Strife
Shadows replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
After having a chance to see all the detailed shots of this, I've come to the conclusion that trying to disguise who builds what ends up just cheating everyone. To explain: Yes, it's nice to supposedly vote solely based on the build. I'd do that no matter what the competition or who was in it, and some will just vote for who they like even if it's junk. But ultimately, I think the winner ends up being the best build, whether people know who it is or not. That said, trying to disguise who's is who's and picking a small number of limited shots just cheats us out of seeing all the real selling points of the work. Not letting the builder explain it leaves us guessing their intent and missing out on the coolest parts. SO, after all that rambling, I'd like to make a suggestion. Should there ever be one of these again, and I'm sure there shall, treat it like an election. Both sides post a thread of their creation with as many pictures as they want, and all the explanation and commentary they feel inclined to provide. Campaign that sucker, kiss babies, give out cigars, bribe people, make impossible promises and tell everyone you'll cut taxes. Well, something like that. *wacko* Then vote in another thread.
